Certainly weren’t your typical I-IV-V with a vi. If you notice something with the Beatles, and I just came to this conclusion of couple years ago after listening to them for the past 55 years, what makes them so great is a combination of lyrics, beautiful harmonies, and incredible chord selection with classy but limited leads and a steady drumbeat. Put the key, just about every song is in constant motion. If there isn’t movement with chords or some type of melody movement on guitar or piano or bass, the vocals are in movement. Constant never ending motion neck keeps grabbing your ear. Listen to any song they have, and you will notice, if the music settles in on a chord, the vocals are in motion and vice versa. It’s probably just my imagination and it’s something that can’t be figured out, but for some reason, something happened when they got together and hold their skills in Germany and made the move to America that will most likely never be repeated. I also understand how it must drive them crazy to constantly talk about the Beatles as they are all individuals, the two that are left. But I always also felt sorry for them because as members of the Beatles, they will never really understand what it’s like to be a Beatles fan. It’s not just about the soundtrack of just about everyone’s life who was born in the 60s or 50s, it’s much more than that. And when I think about it it’s crazy to have that much love for a band. But it is what it is and I’m glad I was around while they were

McCartney and Lennon are famous as songwriters, but McCartney and Harrison were the ones refining the band's unique music. In real life, McCartney bossed Harrison around to get the best of him, and it worked out wonderfully.

James, the two chords in lick of beginning is more like ... an open D pedal with 12th fret chords.. For G/D, no 1str., open G and B with 2nd string slide up to 12th fret for high B. Then for the DM is still no 1st str., continue the D pedal, 2nd str 12 and 3rd string 11 for the A and F#, then onto to III for GM etc. You sound tight. Nice.

Oh, and not sure about the color notes in the Em7 and Am sus 11 to Am. Good for when you're singing w/o harmony vox. But I think Beatles kept it more basic on this one. They liked old Dylan back then. Straight ahead chords, I think.

My favorite part in that song (well one of them) is that little answer to vocal on guitar, that comes after "why tell me why did you not treat me right?". Also - don't you think there's a 7th that should be added to the riff when the verses wrap up? During the "you're not the same" parts? The little lead guitar thing.

The Beatles Bible says it's John on acoustic guitar and Paul on bass, and that's pretty authoritative. This was the third version of the song they'd recorded, so John would certainly have had ample time to get it into his fingertips.

The Beatles (or anybody else) weren't very likely to play a guitar song in G#. It's probably either played with A or G shapes, tuned up or down or with a capo or with manipulated tape speed. In this case, it makes a lot more sense to play it with G shapes. So you can either put a capo at the first fret or tune all the strings up a half-step.
