Saw Don Williams twice in the UK, at the Coventry Theatre and at the Liverpool Empire. Bumped into him in the war ravaged remains of Coventry Cathedral where he was enjoying a cigarette. Being fans my then wife and my friends wife engaged him in conversation, before he responded the first thing he did was tread on his cigarette. What a gentleman, we got his full and undivided attention. A very ordinary and lovely man, no ego whatsoever.
Don Williams, I can't face the fact that You pasaed away. You had the most beautiful voice I've ever experienced in my life. Rest in pease. I go back and listen to your voice every day. Mats Carlsson, Norrköping Sweden

I also listen to this song every day.
My father was a bastard who couldn't be bothered to stay. I listened to him for the voice and wisdom he never gave me. I always thought I'd be ok if I could be the man I heard in Don's music.
When I was 11 years old I fell in love with this song. Now at 73 it still makes me cry.
From what I understand, Don is my 3rd cousin. Those in my family say that I sing like him. I guess that's why I've loved his music since I was a child. I wanted to be him.
He has the nicest soft voice. I melt like butter every time I hear him sing this song.

Great tune, Don Williams just passed away yesterday, September 8, 2017. RIP Don, your rich, mellow voice in country music will surely be missed.
Don williams has been the best of country music for all the best-liked songs
He was also called the song doctor. He finished many songs for other people. He was a true genius.
I feel this is a masterpiece. A man confessing his love and believing himself inadequate some how proves he has everything a woman would wish for (in the true love sense). It is phrased so laid back, so behind the beat, you'll think he's lying in a hammock. The Lloyd Green steel guitar...perfect

This has made me smile, because the moon, stars and sun join us all together. It doesn't matter how far you are away from the ones you love. Love means everything to me, money just buys objects. ❤ As the Beatles sang, Money can't buy me love❤
A beautiful baritone voice with this soothing relaxing music. This could be a real-life situation so is comforting for such ones going through this. The 27 thumbdowners must be despicable cold unloving people that I don't want in my happy life; stay away from me negative miserable people haha. Thank you, Maureen. He absolutely sings this as if it were him he were talking about , feeling is everything, not to mention guitar playing , being a big gentle soul who truly cares about people and last but not least his awesome smooth voice , I just can't enough of this song
There used to be a 70's tv show in England called - Out of town , this was the theme tune , a very good friend of mine used to watch it with his father as a child. He passed away last month aged 43 and they played this at his funeral, will always think of my friend Stuart Taylor when I hear this song.

I think you'll find that Out of Town was a different show, The one with this theme was called Country Boy and both shows were with Jack Hargreaves, As far as I know there are no surviving episodes of Country Boy as all the tapes were wiped. Out of Town however is available on DVD as boxed sets. Similar in content. CB had Jack mostly showing a young lad the ways of the old English country life and just to confuse Jack also made a series called "Old Country"
This song always brings tears to my eyes....
This song has been going over and over in my head for 2 or 3 days. I had to listen to it. Or I was going to go nuts. I loved Don Williams for many years. He reminds me of my younger years and my husband. My husband passed away in 1087. He loved Don also.

"I'm Just A Country Boy" Song by Don Williams I ain't gonna marry in the fall I ain't gonna marry in the spring 'Cause I'm in love with a pretty little girl Who wears a diamond ring. And I'm just a country boy Money have I none But I've got silver in the stars Gold in the mornin' sun Gold in the mornin' sun. Never gonna kiss The ruby red lips Of the prettiest girl in town Never gonna ask her if she'd Marry me I know she'd turn me down. 'Cause I'm just a country boy Money have I none But I've got silver in the stars And gold in the mornin' sun Gold in the mornin' sun. I never could afford A store bought ring With a sparkling diamond stone All I could afford Is a loving heart The only one I own. 'Cause I'm just a country boy Money have I none But I've got silver in the stars And gold in the mornin' sun Gold in the mornin' sun...

Reading all of the comments here, for those of you who do not know of the CD by Vince Gill and Paul Franklin called "Bakersfield," you might enjoy the songs they did on this CD. It is a tribute to Merle Haggard and Buck Owens where they did the songs pretty much exactly as they had been originally done. It's really good, old country.
