As someone who graduated a few years ago, I would say the main pieces of advice: - Take the time to work out what you want to do! I did not do this really, and as you say having the time to be able to process it all. So the fact you are admitting you don't know what you want to do is amazing. - Get a catch-up with your uni friends in the diary soon! It can be difficult to get it in the diary, start it off now :) Plus it gives you something to look forward to every few months. - You will make mistakes and regret it, however that's ok! In some ways, it's better to work out what you DON'T want to do than what you like to do. - Hold on to good people in workplaces, you'll know a good manager/work colleagues when you see it. Enjoy working with them too, a positive work culture makes all the difference. - Try voluneering for a while! You'll meet so many new people and giving back to your community is always a good thing. - Keep journalling and reflect on your work or volunteering experiences. Why did the role make you happy? Is the team good to work with and why? - Trust your gut - if something isn't working out (job, etc) then work out how to manage it or what to do next. No job is worth damaging your own mental health. - Consider working with a counsellor or a career coach to help you process your feelings, especially graduate blues (which I definitely had). - Sometimes your "idea" or "plan" that you had after uni didn't work out...that's ok. You're taking the long road to where you want to be. - Never stop learning!

as someone who graduated three years ago, my advice is: take the risk of doing something you love for work, even if there's instability/uncertainty. I had to work a different job while I searched for a career I actually liked in order to support myself and save up, and then I took the leap---it has been so rewarding, and I couldn't be more grateful!

@@Ayesha-vy9gy great question! I think it really starts with knowing yourself-your strengths and weaknesses, your likes and dislikes. And if you’re not sure, it takes experimentation I worked a few diff internships during my college years so I knew where my priorities were (meaningful work mattered more to me than cool job perks, for instance). Through experience, confirmation from other people, self-reflection, and online tests I figured out my strengths (creative problem solving, innovation, adaptability, etc) and weaknesses (detail oriented work, repetitive tasks, etc). And I had studied abroad for a semester so I knew I could do overseas work and really enjoy it and not get too homesick I hope that helps! Sending good wishes your way!

Oh my word, it’s so comforting to hear a different perspective about graduation and life after uni. I’ve been in such a dark place in regards to my career, this awkward and unwanted gap year, what to do after graduating my second degree, wanted to do my masters but couldn’t because of financial constraints... This video just gave me a sense of peace for this season. I just need to process the life I’ve lived in uni and eventually, when I’m ready and everything around me allows, I’ll get onto the next chapter.🌵

Thank you Jade. Not many people go on KZread and talk about the very important phase of discovering the next step, rather than announcing the next step. I’m still at University, and even though I’m at the age where most of my friends have completed a lot of the units whereas I have just found a major, that I think I love- I’m training my mind, body and soul to be content and at peace with where I am. Your video made me feel supported in this goal. I pray to God that you get to spend quality time with your family, that you get to find a way to incorporate your love of learning, no matter where you are and what you do. I pray that your 1 moth of graduation goes splendidly, and that whatever is meant to reach, you, reaches you.

Congratulations Jade on graduating!! It's such a big thing! I graduated 5 years ago and honestly still don't know what I want to do. Chatting to a lot of my friends over the past year we're all at the same stage where we're in our mid 20s and still don't know what we want to be doing or where we want to be living. Society and media and films and books all sell you that you'll have your life together by your early 20s; you'll be settled in your dream job living with a close group of friends and from my experience this isn't the case. But that's okay! Being honest it can be a lonely time. You move away from your friends and maybe move to somewhere new for a job and it's then trying to create yourself a circle of friends. My advice would be keep finding gratitude in the everyday and enjoy exploring whatever area you're in. Enjoy what you're currently doing without worrying about whether you want to be going the same thing in 3 years time. Opportunities will open up! X

I plan to move to London on September and I am really excited to see what the future holds for you. 🌿My casual magic today was sitting in my uni compound earlier and just seeing the beautiful nature and trees while it was raining. It really made me pause for a few minutes and just be present in the moment instead of rushing to the next thing🌿

I think it is so empowering that you are taking time to process all the lives you have lived and know yourself well enough that you need time to ground. That is so important, and I think most people lose this in college. I also think it's important how you worded it, "all the lives I've lived." How many of us push so much that we feel we live different lives through the semesters of college?? I think that's so honest and just so wise, but so tied to the fact that you traveled for your degree specifically! I also LOVE the reminder that there are two ways to see things: life is full of possibility, or nothingness. We choose how we see it.

I am looking forward to seeing what is next on your path - I am sure it will be something amazing for you and the world! . I'd love to hear more about your thoughts on the climate crisis - as it is such an urgent issue and we need as many people as we can to contribute. Much love. 🌈✨

my casual magic today was that I shared with one of my uni tutors (who is Korean) that I am going on exchange to South Korea next semester!! her reaction made me feel so incredibly supported and excited, and Jade, I also 10000% have you to thank for initially planting the exchange inspiration in my head a couple of years ago :) I will be thinking of you and your wise words whilst I am preparing to leave over the next couple of months ❤❤

Hey Jade💚I'm 23 and graduated as a nurse in December and I started my full time nursing job in Feb. But now I'm taking some time out of work and doing what I've always wanted to do - work as a camp counselor in a summer camp in the US! When I come back I'm hoping to work in my favourite book shop then afterwards I want to work a ski season in a chalet and try skiing for the first time!! I'm so excited! Do WHATEVER you want to to do, it is freeing, both for the mind and soul❤️☘️

You are so real for talking about parents getting older and us graduate students realising this. As someone who has lived 12-hours of flight away from their family for 4+ years, I feel this. It's a constant feeling of being split and guilt for missing out on big things. Thank you for bringing it up.

my casual magic was going to the gym today, like the whole commute there and back plus being there and not focusing on everything going on. Just taking the time to breath, look out the window and listening to music 🪴 your channel inspired me to improve my life, change the way I think about my body and also my mental health. I realised that again when you talked about your body image because without realising it I stopped disliking my body at some point in the past month. That realisation made me very happy. Thank you for choosing to share your life and thoughts with the world. lots of love.

I've been following you since your A-levels and I'm so proud of and happy for you. I've also closed a chapter of my life last week and while I had to move on immediately and more exciting adventures are ahead, it's hard to move through something like this, to truly feel the pain of loss and eventually let go. I feel you. My casual magic was a six-hour-call with my best friends from middle & high school yesterday that we hadn't even planned on letting go on for so long. But we lost track of time updating each other on our lives - one of them is in Taipei right now for an exchange semester - and hanging out as if there were no screens keeping us apart. 🌳

Hey Jade!🍀 My casual magic for the day is this very moment. I decided to take a detour from my usual path and discovered a lush street with pink blossoms and pine trees with berries that almost look crafted, while I listen to your wonderful journey in this video. The uncanny visuals, the smell of nature, the feel of a cold breeze in summer especially in Texas and your beautiful words in my ears, is etching a smile on my face that I will not forget anytime soon. You are lovely, thank you for sharing your journey with all of us and letting us in for the ride❤️

I’ve followed your journey during my gcses 5 years ago, it truly helped me, i remember seeing how the biology meltdown got so much attention and thinking “finally someone is going to shift the narrative on this education system”. I havent watched your videos a lot since graduating but i also lived for a while abroad while doing my bachelors and hearing you talk about your experience made me so nostalgic and sad, but it shows how much youve grown these past few years, i can just listen to you explain things i struggled with deciphering and making it make sense for hours.

jade!! it's so crazy that i've been able to follow you these past four years while I have also been moving countries + studying. I'm about to graduate as well from a program called World Bachelor in Business where I studied in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Milan. watching you go through the ups and downs of studying abroad was beyond helpful in my own journey 💞 i relate with you on long-distance friendships as many in my cohort are from different countries and not headed to the same place as me. I also think your work on education systems is so interesting, with my program you attend different schools in each place so it has been fascinating to see what different systems value as I move around. I am also heading back to my home country (USA) but to a new city (NYC) for my first job! 🌻 my casual magic today was taking a scroll in my street in Milan and reminding myself how lucky I am to live this life. best of luck to you post-grad, you got this 🤝

I really truly deeply understand when you say that now you just want to go home and ‘process’ what you have been living this past years. I have been twice on Erasmus during my bachelors degree and after my second one, during the last semester of uni, everyone was making plans about what to do after and I just simply couldn’t think about it and decided to go home for some months and rest. This months have been very valuable for me but honestly I also think that they made me weaker and more attached to routine and familiarity than before. This is not necessary a bad thing, but it has been difficult to admit to my self that I no longer feel like the young girl that constantly wants to explore the world and meet people… this type of person is a version of yourself that you get to be when you are alone somewhere and has to force yourself doing things because otherwise you feel like you are not enjoying your time. It is a very complicated argument to express properly and I don’t want to be misunderstood, but I seriously suggest you Jade to at least find ‘a way of escaping’ after a couple of months spent at home, like for example a volunteer project, a trip far away, a short internship away from home… and then you’ll be really able to reflect about the type of life that you want, but moving back home just because you need time to ‘process’ and without a plan could be very dangerous. Take your time, is important, but also be strong and never loose focus on your dreams ✨
