Brad wasn't expecting the ovation - then 4 jokes in until the crowd eases and laughs. The jokes continue and language gets in the way. He needs a water. He pushes through it and shows the vulnerability that makes Him one of the greatest actors of a generation. Brad is an icon and an inspiration on and off the screen. He's what a Man should be. Kind, Graceful and Funny. Grateful to have witnessed this tonight.

I couldn't agree more. Brad has been one of my top favorite actors since I first saw him in "Thema and Louise" and "Interview With A Vampire" (while so many were going ga-ga over Tom Cruise in that movie, I was ga-ga over Brad). He's awesome!

Well said : he showed he was trying his best, he was emotional, he was vulnerable, he was a little puzzled, his mouth was dry and maybe his teeth were uncomfortable too. But he showed a cocktail of emotions, he was human et not a wall of untouchable ego. We like him for that.

Pitt likes Finsher a lot. So he wanted to say a beautiful speech, therefore he read a written one, he didn’t improvise. And the emotions came in the way of his reading. These things happen. It’s ok. There are worse things in a lifetime. We still like him for his sincerity in his work.

Brad Pitt and audience were both nervous. The audience were in shock seeing such a great actor showing up and they just wanted to look at him and live the moment without caring much about what he meant and the jokes he was making. On the other hand this was not something Brad was expecting because as a natural human we all expect some engagement and laughter when we crack jokes. Still, Brad's skills safely got him out and the audience seem pleased too. Happy ending :)

I love Pitt, and he did nothing wrong - except his jokes are in English and this award show honoring director David Fincher was held in France. You can imagine what it would be like having a French actor telling jokes in French at the US held Oscars. This clip does not make that clear, but that’s why Pitt is having such a rough time. I think he’s actually at least partially fluent in French, as well - ironically.

We chatted about his recent projects, and he shared some behind-the-scenes anecdotes. It was so cool to hear firsthand about his experiences. But what struck me the most was how genuinely interested he was in hearing about my favourite movies and memories. He made the whole conversation feel like catching up with an old friend.

A lot of comments discussing Brad's nervousness. I thi k it's as a result of the crowd not laughing. But THAT'S as a result of a large percentage of the audience having French as their primary language. It doesn't mean they cannot communicate in English, but I think that maybe they just didn't have a strong enough command of the English language to catch the subtlety of his jokes.
