I'm Driving Across the Country (3,500 Miles Coast to Coast)
I've been craving a long road trip for far too long and it's finally happening! I'll be sending it coast to coast and couldn't be more excited. Be sure to leave suggestions in the comments for cool places that I should check out!

TESS !!!!! Yesss !!!! Jonathan you finally listened to us. Tess is awesome. More Tess. Less Stress.
First of all, I have to say, reading the comments, reinforces my faith in humanity. Kudos to all of the commenters for the positivity and excitement for this young man’s journey. Secondly, thanks to you, Jonathan, for providing such good content . Professionally shot and edited, but more than that, a candid view Into the ups and downs of this life that you’ve chosen. I believe a lot of folks that may be in situations where they’re unable to do these things, live vicariously through your adventures. So, you not only get the joy of the travels, but I’m sure you feel sense of purpose in your work/play. Best of luck to you on your trip. And prayers for your safe travels.

I second that
You will have the time of your life! So many people get on planes to travel from one end of the country to the other, and they miss all the beauty this wonderful country has. Drink it all in, and then plan more trips taking a different slice a bit further south until you’ve covered all the different treasures we have been blessed with here in the US from west to east/north to south! Safe travels!
First - your girlfriend needs to be in more videos as you two are a good match and it is fun watching your interactions. Second Good luck and have an amazing time it is so nice to live vicariously through you adventurers.
I'm so happy for you, Jonathan, and I can't wait to follow along with you. I've done this twice and still think of it as the most wonderful things I've ever done. It was quite a few years ago and I traveled in a Honda CVCC filled with my tent and other camping gear. The first trip took me three months and I drove 12,300 miles, and the second one covered almost as many miles but finished in two months because it was getting cold. If I could offer you some advice based on my experience it would be: 1)Avoid the Interstates; you see nothing on them. If you want to see America, travel on the old highways and drive through the towns. 2)Talk to people everywhere. Local folks will be happy to tell you about their area and fellow campers love to talk about places they've been. 3)Keep your plans flexible so that you can take advantage of new places you learn about. Have a great time!
I hope the airing of this video is at least a week behind because the change is already happening in the east. Have fun!
Your cross-country trip is going to be epic. It will be made a lot easier and safer in this age of GPS, smartphone, and internet connectivity. Those will not only guide your travels but you'll be able to stay in touch with Tess. I know you haven't even started your trip but you really should think about returning via a Southern route to experience the "real" world 😉 Have the adventure of a lifetime and safe travels!
Comedy relief by Tess….she’s a natural! I love it!! Safe travels y’all 🫶🏼🙏🏼💕👍🏼

Yes please! 😉🙋🏻♀️ Your banter is natural and sweet. I’m also super excited about your trip. I’ll be living vicariously through you! East coast foliage is on my bucket list as well!
Every video with Tessa in it is gonna be a banger
So happy for your upcoming trip. How many of us would love that journey too. Angels all around you, to keep you safe and guided to the best experience. Helene/Tx
Sounds exciting I’ve always wanted to do that 👍… make sure you don’t just stay on freeway, travel the back ways on smaller roads, see how people live across the nation… also I love when you cook & I’m sure you’ll be doing plenty but I’d be interested in seeing food places in different states/towns….Lastly please do more than 1 video per week… if you’ve watched Ryan twomay that’s all he does is travel across the USA & during those trips he will up his videos to 2-3 per week so PLEASE do more than 1 a week🙏
3:04 🚣♀️ 😂 Tess is such a riot!! 😆💕👏👍
My family and I did a 5,000 mile road trip from the Midwest to the Canadian Rockies with plenty of stops along the way, Montana, North Dakota, Wyoming. It took 3 weeks, but it was a great trip, we were able to see so much.
Yay Tessa!!! So good to see her too! I’m looking forward to seeing your 4,000 mile trip! Safe travels!!!
Always fun seeing Tess with you on an adventure. Looking forward to sharing your cross country adventure with you. Safe travels and God bless.
Fellow Portlander, recently discovered your channel after I picked up a F150 for canopy camping! I did about a 1/3 of your route a few years ago in the opposite direction. If I may, SD is pretty boring but the Badlands make it entirely worth it, absolutely recommend. Also I hope you're in Minnesota before the winter really hits, if so I'd recommend Deluth and Lake Superior, it's trippy having grown up on the coast seeing so much fresh water! Safe travels and have fun!!@
I’m happy to see you do a long road trip. It means you can’t take a sledgehammer to your camper for a while 😅 have fun!!!
Note you will be hitting snow areas of New England, New York and Canada, it gets cold here. Have a good heater, good snow tires and chains if needed. You need to be really prepared coming into this part of the country. Bring plenty of money too, for just in case. Have a great time and this part of the country is beautiful.
I’ve been from WA to NH 5 times, traveled I90, I80, and I94. So much to see and do going cross country. New England is beautiful during leaf peeping. Safe travels!
Love it! Good luck. I can't wait to watch.😊
Safe travels! I look forward to watching your trip.
Looking forward to the trip and the videos that come along with it! I appreciate people like you who are willing to film experiences like this so I can live vicariously through them until I can get out more frequently myself!
Admit that Tess is the star of the show!
Stoked for this! Have fun man!
Love it, can't wait to see your journey!
So cool! You're doing something on my bucket list! Cant wait for the content👍
Really looking forward to watching your road trip!!
Good luck on the trip sounds awesome dude
I have been a subscriber for a long time and enjoyed your adventures and cooking. We live outside Denver and are currently somewhere in Iowa in our Bigfoot truck camper on our way home from Newfoundland. This is our third trip there and the first time was from Seattle. My advice to you is to get lithium batteries and a dc to dc charger if you want reliable power while on the road. I am 81 and my wife is 78 and we are going back to Newfoundland again next year. I am looking forward to watching your road trip videos. Have a safe trip!
Hi Tessa! Have a good trip! I’ll be watching your adventures!
This is very exciting news being a fan from the midwest. Thanks for throwing us a bone lol. Cant wait to see the journey! Be sure to check out the Great Lakes!
So excited for you!!!!
I'm stoked for your east coast trip! I am sure you going to have A LOT of fun. Just be sure to bring EVERYTHING you need.
Cool, you're going to have fun! I'll throw in my opinion that taking in some of the southern routes would be a good idea. I've done road trips in Georgia and along the Mississippi from Memphis to New Orleans, and they were both great. Lots of good hiking in Georgia, and I wouldn't be surprised if they had some fishing, too.
Awesome man can’t wait to follow along!
Jonathan, I ❤️ your videos and where you go, I'll follow. I ❤️ the midweek one, that was soooooo relaxing and I adore your kitty, I love your little place it's a nice house with yard, and I adore Tessa. You and Tessa are couple perfection. You both are precious!!! I'm looking forward to your travels, and as always, safe journey.❤
Can’t wait to see the adventures!!
Can't wait to follow you across country, safe travels Jonathan!!!
Wishing you safe travels.... looking forward to seeing where the road takes you.....
Good luck man!!
Awesome! I for one can’t wait to see what’s to come! As you said, you have a nice big camper, so out that bad boy to use! Congratulations 🎉
Dude, I’m really excited about this trip. I think it’s going to be amazing
Fabulous, looking forward to that .. east coast beautiful this time of year !!
I'm excited to see the world through your eyes. Praying for safe travels.
Looks like an exciting trip! I look forward to your videos!
Electric paddle board pumps are almost worth their weight in gold. Can plug them into your truck or power station. Nothing beats the convince of an inflatable board for truck campers
Safe travels !
Happy trails!

Thanks!
I’ve done two coast to coast trips, incredible experiences! You’re gonna love your trip! Enjoy!
This is great JY
Super excited to see these upcoming videos. After that I’d LOVE to see you drive up to Alaska. Love the videos. Keep em coming.
I am excited for you and living all my life in the West I get it. Growing up road trips to the East was a regular thing in my family to visit my parents’ families. Next week I leave on my first long distance road trip. Just going as far as Des Moines Iowa to meet up with a lot of friends. But the getting there is what I am looking forward to and the different route home. Round trip it will be about 3,750 miles. My best to you and I am looking forward to seeing what you find out there.
I’m from the Portland Maine area, and have been here my entire life! Haven’t been out west yet but this video inspires me to get out more, and hopefully plan a trip out there sometime soon. Craft brew scene out here is great and you definitely need to get a lobster roll from high-roller!
Love the jump man, enjoy the adventure!
Godspeed man, i drive a 2001 f350 7.3 with a truck camper and just bring some wearables with you , couple gallons of oil maybe a wheel bearing and some u joints!!! also do your truck a favor and flush the rear diff !! chances are that rear diff has the original fluid in it and you might end up cooking a rear end
Looking forward to it. Be careful.
Great news that you are going on a huge road trip ! I will look forward to the videos. Hope you get back before it starts snowing up north.
Hey Man, Big fan!!!. Good luck on your trip. I'll be following.
Awesome. I’m excited.
Wow! Looking forward to your road trip across the USA!
BRAVO!!! SAFE TRAVELS!!!
Sounds like fun looking forward to going along for the ride and see what comes
So stoked for you! Safe travels! I’ll be anxious for every upload. I’m a truck camper based in Freeport, ME and I have to say, as a Maine native, coastal Maine is a must see. Especially for the fall foliage. I’m so anxious to see it again myself, it never disappoints! Feel free to reach out if you want to go for a hike or SUP trip✌️
Hey G I've got forested acreage outside of Syracuse New York. It's no problem at all for you guys to stay here a night with the RV or stay in one of the cabins. Or grab a coffee. Along your route in the northeast id recommend Vermont and New Hampshire parks, and the Adirondacks. 🙏
We have bald eagles in Missouri (we had one in our yard last summer). Come on out and see our beautiful countryside.
Adventures awaits my friend.. so excited for what’s to come. Cheers 🍻
Jonathan, I’d say you have to take the good ole Blue Ridge Parkway. The Blue Ridge Trail parkway is a total of 469 miles from near main all the way down the east coast following through the ancient Appalachian mountains. These rolling hills also bring a treasure that you can’t get anywhere else in the world and that’s millions of caves. I’d recommend finding a caving guide who can take you to one of the caves or, visit Luray Caverns, Virginia for the best experience with a smooth guide through the ancient mountains.
I grew up New Jersey , so i have seen the New England fall and now live in Virginia!! The Blue Ridge Mountains are beautiful in the fall and we enjoy all the festivals !! Both are just breathtaking!! Welcome to the East Coast!!
Let s hit the road then! Can t wait😊
Jonathan, welcome to the east coast. Lots to see. Just in time for the fall foliage. Looking forward to your videos on your road trip. Safe travels👍🏼
Enjoy your trip
Enjoy the drive!!
Vermont, Mass, New Hampshire Fall foliage is worth the trip. Have a blast. Btw, make sure your AAA is updated.
can't wait to watch
Looking forward to the adventure! And glad I got to see Tessa.
Coming from somebody who lives on the East Coast, you are doing an Autumn trip a little late in the season. Going to be darn near Winter by the time you get all the way into Maine and could be already seeing snow. Just be prepared for that. Probably would have been better if you started the trip a month ago. I'm just across the border from Maine in New Brunswick Canada, and I have seen full-blown winter in mid November

Since you're staying north during fall winter, and will be going over mountain ranges, make sure to prepare ahead for ice and snow conditions and have resources to see snow expectations on the highways.
Hi Johnathan and Tessa (Welcome back Tessa ) I can't wait to see the new up and coming trip

Howdy 👋 thanks for tuning in! More vids soon to come
This trip is gonna be the absolute best! So much to see! I def recommend popping over to Duluth, MN and the North Shore! And go through the UP. Some of the most beautiful views and places.
Have fun Jonny! I’ve driven across this beautiful country about 6 times now, hopefully I’ll get back to your part of the world one day, it’s special up there for sure. Stay safe.🌺🌲😊
Awesome! You will be traveling right past me in central NY, Utica! Lots of great places to see and explore here! I look forward to your adventures, Thanks!
Yay! You are coming close to where I live in New England!!

A lot of people from New England in this comment section.😅
Jonathan--It's very, very exciting to hear about your plans! And you seem totally into it, which is fantastic. Just something to keep in mind: U.S. Rte 20 goes coast to coast from (Newport) Oregon to Fenway Park in Boston. And it's a 2-lane road for most of the way, and goes through Yellowstone Park. And it's the longest highway in the U.S. If nothing else, it could be a point of reference as you head east. Good luck!

Second US 20 or a combination of route 14 and route 20. We recently drove from Marengo IL near our home town to Casper WY all on route 20 and it was amazing. Northern Nebraska is incredible.
🎶 East bound and down, loaded up and trucking! 🎵 🎼
This is gonna be dope as well! You're takin off just before I am on something similar. Best of luck dude.
GREAT SEEING TESSA AND YOU ON A ADVENTURE AND I HAVE TO SAY YOU TWO HAVE AN ADORABLE KITTY TAKE CARE AND SAFE TRAVELS
Camping and traveling: Much better than renovating!!

Absolutely 😌
I just drove from Toledo, OH to Canon Beach and back. You'll love it man. I've been all over the east coast too and it really is so different from the west. The middle of the country is the hardest part to get through. I would recommend going through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and back down instead of cutting through Chicago. There is a ferry that also connects Milwaukee with Michigan. Good luck man! Excited to see your journey!
Woohoo!! This is awesome! I feel like I'll be tuning in to Jonathan's Road Adventures!! Can't wait to see where episode 1 takes us. The food, the scenery, the culture, the people. It'll be like a Travel Channel miniseries. Oooh, imagine Jonathan's Transatlantic Adventures. Ok, I'm getting ahead of myself. 😅 These follow-up posts are gonna be awesome to watch, though. Good luck, Jonathan!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻 Tessa and the cat will hold down the fort. Maybe they can make appearances via Skype or something. 😉
Watched on my tv .. but had to come to the channel .. I’m so ready for this adventure looking forward to the content .. safe travels
Mark my words. You better make sure your diesel fired truck is ready to go. Change your oil, fuel filter is very importanam and carry a spare, with tools to change it out. Check all your diff oil levels too. If you don't....This could be a disaster waiting to happen. Good luck!
Those of us on the EC look forward to you coming out!😊
Go to Cape Cod! Take the ferry to Martha's Vineyard. See Bar Harbor. Go to the Outer Banks in NC. Go to Quebec.
Great video. The Andirondaks are Amazing anytime of year. Hope you get to visit. Happy travels
Well that sounds exciting but you might want to do at least a little planning. Also, depending on your budget, you might want to plan some free camping spots because campgrounds have gotten quite pricey. I follow a couple on the Endless Adventure channel. They have been trying to see all the states in the u. S. And have been to a lot- you might want to touch base with them to see what info they can give you as you sound a little anxious about going into the unknown. I also like the Travel Beans - they bought a van just to visit the u.s. in as their home base is the UK. Can’t wait to see what places you pick to visit!
Hi from South Jersey! Can't wait to see your east coast adventures! Love Maine!
Epic! Safe travels and foremost; enjoy! 😊
The only way this will be enjoyable for you is if you don't put any timeline pressure on yourself. Take your time. Stop often. Be willing to stay a day or two in one location. But if you tell yourself you have to be one a location at a certain time this trip will get old and arduous.

The real knowledge, right here
You will have a great time. I was born in California, raised in the Rockies and currently reside in Michigan. My wife is from New Jersey. We have traveled coast to coast several times and it never gets old. The United States is a beautiful area, you will find the geographical differences amazing. I can't really say one area is more beautiful than another, just different. I too will be driving my truck camper from Michigan to northern California next year in the Fall, will be taking a route new to me and sharing your excitement. Safe travels to you.
Johnathan This will be a great trip! Only thing I think is you could be making a big mistake going north from Portland Maine. Over next few week could be running into tough weather from NY going north. Ice, fog, rain and freezing mornings could bring snow coatings on the roads. If you want a really enjoyable trip head south from Maine and you will get to see some of the greatest and diverse coast lines America has. New England has much of what you have in NW US just maybe not as majestic with high cliffs and rocky shorelines. The New England coast has lots of different types of coastal areas. Beaches, inlets, large bays and some great rivers that feed into the Atlantic. There are TONS OF HISTORICAL places all along our coast. Most towns will have many many places that were built 100-200 years before any building built in the area you live. Lots of State parks in all the Eastern States here have camping with fee but this time of year a lot are very reasonable. Most have very good internet connections as well (which might be to your advantage) The BEST about a southern journey would be the opportunity to fish in some of the best waters in the US. This time of year fish are just starting their fall migration and are feeding heavily on baits moving out of almost all the waterways from Maine to North Carolina. LOTS of content for fishing adventures if you might want to do any of these. I can almost guarantee you will catch at many places along the coast. Just swing by a tackle store grab some bait, rigs or lures and they will almost all be helpful in getting you a catch with latest info. Over next few weeks the biggest migration will be stripers, blues moving south for the winter. You might be lucky to catch a fish of a lifetime from NY, New Jersey and maybe Mass. Might mention some of the stripers that are caught can go up to 40-50lbs from the BEACH. Wish you luck on this journey and hope you will consider at least a little going south instead of north once you get to your initial intended destination. I fish a lot in NJ (live in PA) but can give you some good fishing info if you make it to NJ.
