im bipolar and its not necessarily that or what the video said it was. Bipolar is triggered by a traumatic event in your past or something else to sorta "awaken it" there s more but im lazy. depending on the severity of it;it can come in different sorta cases-cos ya gotta remember it is a mental disorder

It can be terrifying at times, more scarier than others, severity and how it effects each person differs pretty immensely. I have Bipolar, and when I was 8 I started seeing a therapist, and when I had seen her for about a year and a half, I was diagnosed with it. I constantly was thrown in a cycle of depression and suicidal thoughts, to these random bursts of energy where it felt a thousand ideas were running through my mind each millisecond to say the least! I was given different medications to help cope with it, and after trial and error of antidepressants, I started to stabilize. Originally, my life was a cycle of: "I'll-do-three-all-nighters-in-a-row-writing-incomprehensible-pages" then go through a raged, depressed "I-will-destroy-these-with-fire!" But now, its been a bit over 12 years from when I was diagnosed. It was a definite climb, especially with the major events I've had to go through, including separate grieving periods and dealing with PTSD. I've been able to stay fairly steady, and though I have some times I'll be thrown into a period (generally a month as most when these happen) mild-moderate swings of between sadness/overall I don't care anymore to an excessive burst of ideas at times that'll make me pull an all-nighter or two, these are rare and I'm doing alright! It's way better than I was, and I'll do with what I have. If anyone has any questions on Bipolar, or in general, I'd be happy to do my best to answer them. ^^

Real quick, what she described was a manic psychosis episode which is different than most manic episodes. Mania include insomnia, talking fast, impulsive desicions, money spending, and overall hyperactivity. Manic phycosis is all of that plus delusions. Sometimes schizophrenia is misdiagnosed as bipolar or can be accompanied by it. Overall I hope that she is well and getting back to normal life.

Bipolar people can have bipolar psychosis, in which they experience hallucinations and delusions. It's different from schizophrenia in that the psychosis only occurs when they're in a manc or depressive episode. These symptoms fall pretty fairly into bipolar; not just schizophrenia has hallucnations and delusions.

If bi polar comes with hallucinations its likely schizo affective disorder or it the person has another disorder next to it. Psychology interest me which is why I watched this but it didnt line up with anything i read before. Besides she only had mania and no signs of depression. Just a manic episode and paranoia thats another thing that threw me off.

Chills guys, literal chills. This is so far the most accurate video I've ever seen! I can't believe how similar her experience was to mine! I'm bipolar too and I had my first manic episode in the university. The second one was abroad and I was admitted to a psych ward. I had very similar kind of delusions, like shower was a way to communicate, I also took a bath with the clothes on, I had all kinds of theories and ideas and I was also forced to withdraw out of uni till I was better. Mad respect for the girl! I know exactly how it's like. Edit: believe it or not, I demanded a silver bracelet instead of a silver necklace I don't remember why tho, some delusions, like she said, are fuzzy and you don't remember anything when you're better. Shit. I got one tho my granny gave it but I don't wear it anymore..

When she said she thought an invisible man was chasing her I felt that, I feel like for me its recurring actually….. I feel like a group of seven men are following me cause they believe I’m a genius so I’m a threat to humanity. So I hear voices, see shadows and feel a presence near me. I also believe they try to program me but my telepathic powers are too strong which is why the teleport into shadow form. I’ve had these thoughts since I was a kid actually.

I have had to go to a mental hospital too, but after I got on medication things started getting better, it has definitely been a bumpy road but things did get better. So if your going through a hard time just keep going, I know it’s hard but you can do it :).

Really extreme cases can have it. Bi-polars affects the same part of your mind that schizophrenia and sycosis can. The reason her mania got that extreme might have been because she was on anti-depressants. Anti-depressants can, in certain people, make your episodes worse in patients with bi-polars and the like. I'm glad that she was able to get the help she needed and is now on a medication that makes the illness easier to deal with.

(Her appartment was on third floor and had a balcony) She was send to a hospital and diagnosed bipolar. A few months later, I talked with her about it, but could never really understand it. She was telling crazy stuff she believed. And how people just didn't understand her. How everybody else just didn't get her point. (Btw, she never wanted to jump) Your story helped me a lot. To this day, I can't follow her explanations, but now I understand better, how she felt and how true her altered reality must have felt.

That’s hypermania wow I was never that deep down the manic hole but I would have manic episodes and to think of it, it was all a blur I remember somethings and it’s honestly embarrassing looking back I felt like people around me must have thought I was truly crazy. My bipolar disorder always had a long depression episode right after my mania, that was horrible, I only felt truly like myself one week out of the whole month. My disorder had control the rest of the time. I couldn’t go finish college or hold down a job because of my disorder, when I was in a maniac episode I thought of all the other jobs I could do and make more money all these “brilliant” ideas and when I was having my depression I couldn’t even be bothered to leave my bed I didn’t care about anything I was fully ready to just be erased off the earth. When I was finally diagnosed I was relieved to know that’s not how a normal person is supposed to be thinking and behaving. My mom cried because she knew she passed it down to me since almost all the women on my moms side has genetic bipolar disorder. With therapy and medicine I feel normal like nobody else has control of me but me.

So they may not be real, but definitely relate to someone. I personally don’t think a story must be real to be catchy or whatever as long as it’s well explained

Man, I wish I could somehow convince my dad that what he's going through isn't real. I had to move back in with him as a 32 year old guy to keep an eye on him since he's sure there's some conspiracy to murder him hatched by friends of my now deceased mother. He sees writing on the walls/everywhere and is sure his neighbors are writing them to send him cryptic messages about how they're going to torture him. When someone says they don't see it, we're "just not looking hard enough" When I try to explain to him he's bipolar and he needs help (he was diagnosed such more than a decade ago), that these things aren't real, he erupts into anger about how I must be part of the plot, and that disagreeing with him only "gives them what they want". He likes the ups he gets, but he mis-attributives the sense of positivity he can get from it as something positive. It's a crapshoot if he'll just be more active or if he'll start going into a tirade about how people are after him, desperately reading lines from old spills on the carpet. I really kinda miss my dad.

Hugs to you Dealing with a parent or any loved one with a mental health issue isn't easy at all especially when they refuse to take their medication or accept help I hope that your dad does see that he needs help soon and that you are able to have some rest from this hard situation. Its good to see that there are still good, kind, caring men around, you are a dying breed 💜

Okay... I’m hearing her talk about this rush of ideas that keeps her awake at night as she tries to track them all down and therefore making her end up becoming ecstatic over them for long periods of time... and I’m wondering if I’m crazy because I can be like that too? Like seriously, to the extent where my ideas are making me so happy and I pour them out to people not caring if they’re realistic or not- I just think in the moment that they sound amazing and could change the world? ... Just me? Okay (I’m an ENFP who’s a writer, to justify all that. I’m not saying I’m bipolar [hopefully not anyway] or trying to make her life sound better than it is,it’s just that that specific part of her experience is super relatable to me on a bit of a smaller scale)

I was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and this video helps me make sense of some times in my life. I remember one time i was convinced that I was running out of time but I didn't know what was gonna happen when I ran out. I was going through a really stressful time in my life and I think the stress triggered that episode. Luckily my sisters had grown accustomed to calming me down and bringing me back to reality.

My mom has bipolar disorder and she said once that she was hospitalized because of a mania episode. I didn’t know what that meant since I’d only ever seen her in depressive episodes, and this video really helped me understand what may have happened. I have so much respect for her knowing what she’s had to go through.

My grandmother had this combination of features, struggled with it her whole life. Moods shifted, along with medication, some particularly bad moments had her almost seeming like a totally different person from a completely different world. It was never something we really got to talking about, and she's gone now. Its odd how much this hit me and made me regret not getting into it with her. Gave me some solace at the same time though, so thank you.

I have OCD and it is interesting how similar the symptoms are. What she is describing sounds a lot like intrusive thoughts. The difference is how it is handled is that as someone with OCD I perform compulsions so that the intrusive thoughts don't come true. I feel so bad for people who don't have the benefit of mental health care and proper diagnosis. It took a long time for me to be diagnosed and it was hell. Some people may never get a diagnosis, they may end up ending their own lives, or doing drugs to self-medicate. It breaks my heart.
