Hi Doc. For a dental specialty/residency, do u already earn like a medical resident? Or do you have to pay for your tuition fee? Thanks
This is really insightful, I haven't really thought about how generalists really do have to bounce around for all kinds of things and that can be a big let down over time for certain people
And I love your channel! Thank you for being so transparent and honest with the financial side of dentistry. Best of luck to both of you, can't wait to see your success continue!

I first became interested in dentistry because of my orthodontics journey, but the broad range of things you could see and do as a general dentist interests me a lot now. I also don’t know whether I’ll be up to do another few years of not working and making money once I finally finish dental school. I think specializing is a decision I truly won’t be able to make until I get to the courses in school, but videos like this are awesome because I get to see how others went about navigating this hard decision. Dani, I really appreciated how you mentioned how important it was for you to try your best to save someone’s natural teeth. That is a good value to have as a dentist or specialist and I feel the same way.

Hi. Can you please tell me if a dental speciality training for 3 years in eastern Europe will be recognized in the UK? I don't know if I should be doing a dental specialist training in my country and after that coming to the UK or not doing one at all and come as a general dentist. How much does it matter in the UK to be a dental specialist from another country? Thank you!
I've been telling myself for a while now that if I decide to specialize, it will be in endodontics! It seems very focused as discussed which absolutely allows for mastery fairly easily. Good luck!

Generally, as a GP I can do some of molar endo, fixed and removable prosthesis in moderate case that does not need full mouth rehab , some wisdom teeth (not fully impacted upper ones), and I'm starting to get into implant as well. I also want to know how about other GP do.
I am curious how old you guys are when you finished dental schools. In Australia, we have bachelor degree of dentistry and some students get in dental surgery at 18 years old and finish at 23 years old.
Im studying denistry in South Africa how do i come to america after my studies

Hello! I’m not sure if this video is a sign for me. But I’ve been watching your videos Joel when I was in the process of applying dental school back 4 years ago. Now, I am finishing up D2 year and gained a huge interested into endodontist as well. I’ve been battling if I will be a good applicant to apply to the endo residency since it’s so competitive . I would love if Dani could make a video about stats, gpa, and her journey when she was applying for her endo residency. Thank you so much for creating this video!

I’m very curious, once Someone becomes a specialist, can they still go back to being a general dentist if they no longer like their specialty? Or can they also work as a general dentist part time while also doing part time specialist? ( I know idk why people would do that, but just curious)

I think going into a speciality is great if you're the type of person who wants to be amazing at 1 thing instead of being ok at 20 things. Also the multi-tasking part of general dentistry isn't for everyone.

Most US programs are 2 years, but the two programs in Canada are 3 (you do a masters as part of the program)
I'm a junior in high school and am thinking about going into dentistry but the only thing holding me back is the amount of debt I'll be in for the rest of my life.

An important question to consider
Did you think of staying a generalist and just getting an dental microscope? Save the tuition and lost if time. With practice you can do and bill the same as specialist.

It is called clickbait, some youtubers use it to gain clicks=views=crazy dollar. Theyre doing fine tho, good vids
The only thing bad about endo is that you have to do a whole lot of endo. lol. Mostly re-treats too, if you practice in most places. I realize the practice of endo is changing....presumably for the better. I do a sh*t ton of endo as a GP, but it’s also one of the few things I refer. I don’t want to do retreats. I will consider retreating my own failures to try to learn from them. That’s my rule. Endodontists usually have a great practice, and they usually make bank.I think it’s probably the best bang for your buck. I’m board certified in Pediatric Dentistry...and we need more double board certified people. Everything has changed in how we treat nonvital teeth in younger patients.

@@is-cy3zo Some residencies pay a stiped and some don't. In the late 80's when I was a resident, I got paid a little under 30K per year, and I got decent benefits. Plus I was able to have a part time private practice. I don't think most allow that today.
Finally clickbait I actually enjoyed
