Fungi are fantastic, that's for sure! I've learned most of my mushrooms on my own, too -- and sure appreciate the folks that have made guidebooks and those all-essential identification keys. There's such tremendous diversity in the Pacific Northwest. It's hard not to be a fungus fanatic around here, lol. Happy mushroom hunting!

Thanks! Our variety is amazing around here...I'm surprised it took me so long to notice them in the first place.
So happy you're are back. Your enthusiasm is contagious and hopefully your knowledge will be as well. I am down in Portland and I have been on the lookout for ways to learn this land, learn how to forage here, and find a great group of folks to help me on that voyage. it can be hard when you are not sure where to start. So again, Welcome back and I look forward to learning more from you.

Thank you! Connect with the Oregon Mycological Society! They've got a meeting this Monday, Oct 22nd at 7:00 at the World Forestry Center (free for the public to attend, don't have to be a member), Taylor Lockwood is this month's speaker and you'd love it I bet. Or hit up their amazing Fall Show which is on the 28th, same place, starts at noon, $5 entry 😊👍

Elanor! I loved seeing this new vid on my KZread subs! Give us some tips on when & where as in what's growing nearby & the signs of the season!

Hi! Greetings from guadalajara, mexico! In my nick of the woods we also have a lot of mushrooms, mostly in spring and winter... rainy season! Your channel is awesome, and I am honored to be able to watch your videos. OF course, up in the pacific northwest you have some different mushies, but strangely enough, I have found 2 or 3 morchellas grouwing next to the sidewalk under a little ficus tree... wow! We also have some delicious yellow boletes and a LOT of oysters growing in the woods around my city! hahaha even just regular champignons in the compost pile! one day I even found a hen of the woods growing right out there in the garden... Love this mushroom hunting! Happy foraging! Saludos amiga!

@@bradleykmdean I did no harvesting. Not even the trumpets. I'm conflicted about removing/shortening the time visible of these beautiful things in well-visited areas, even though I want them for my plate. I know people harvest in my local national park in northeast Ohio, which prohibits it, because I hike every week and beautiful specimens of say sulfur shelf are there one week and gone the next. The difference between Killarney and that park couldn't be starker in terms of which is more barren of specimens.

Living on the east coast, I've never even heard of a white chanterelle! It's awesome to see you back, I was really bummed when I found your channel and saw that you weren't posting anymore. I just wish youtube told me you started posting again sooner!

Also, on the topic of it being somewhat hard for people to get started mushroom hunting - what I did at first was just google what it looked like. For example, "yellow/orange mushroom growing on tree." It's a pretty obvious thing to do, people still overlook it. After a while of doing that, I found some really good mushroom/mushroom ID groups on facebook, and they've really helped me
Yo! Welcome Back! ❤️
