I'm Adopted: Tracking Down My Biological Family | On The Red Dot | Full Episode

Serene first found out she was adopted when she was 16. But she never took the step to discover who her biological parents were, for fear of offending her adoptive family. However, in February 2021, after stumbling upon her adoption documents while spring cleaning, she approached the CLS for help to track them down.
Apart from cold crime cases, the volunteers at the Crime Library Singapore (CLS) also work to reunite families. Can they successfully help the adopted help-seekers find their birth parents?

Why would being adopted means being a outcast in the family? I am sure her foster parents chose her and love her a lot too to bring her up. It takes so much patience, savings and love to bring a child to adulthood. I hope this does not convey messages that being adopted means being an outcast in the family. In fact, the family has chose to love the child so much, and did not in anyway gave up.

True in certain ways. Why she said outcast... ? But we really don't know her situation. Maybe she having some difficulties along the way during her childhood which we really don't know. Some people are not good in expressing or interpret how they feels sometimes. Its a very emotional thingys. We are not her to be judgemental about her words, feelings, expression or why....

Willa Mak's biological mother meant to say that they used to live in an outpost village, not Blk 38. She was translating directly from Hokkien to rudimentary Mandarin - Swah Pah in Hokkien (meaning Swah: mountainous/forested area Pah: shanties) is commonly used by the older generation to reference villages situated in the more far-flung areas in SG where agricultural farming took place. Her literal translation is typical of elderly dialect speakers who learnt the language during the sweeping Speak Mandarin campaign back in the 80s. You're welcome.

As soon you find out you are adapted.....you forgot about the your parents who raised you for 15 years and go back to those who just send you for adaptation...nice 🤣.....you don't think about the heart of your forester parents when they see you searching for your old parents who just send you for adaptation

i don’t really think it’s fair to say that as she mentioned that she decided to not bring up the matter when her adoptive mother was still alive. she was still thinking about her family. she did not bad mouth them. i also don’t think it’s wrong for her to want to meet her biological family and want to have a relationship with them. the biological mother already said they were not able to raise her, which is why they had other people care for her. at the end of the day, she has more family to love and be loved by. don’t understand why you’re so negative about this.

Chinese or asians adoptive parents that are more conservative type usually don't share or tell their children they are adopted. For Willa or Serene or even most adoptive children, they don't abandon or forget their adoptive parents. In a way, they are just curious about their biological parents and need some form of closure of why their biological parents gave them away. So I think it's not really fair for you to say that.

Doesn't mean searching biological are ungrateful. Its a closure in life. You are not them and stop assuming or characterised someone Remember... Karma
