Hi, I'm Jiji. You may remember me from such anime film as Kiki's Delivery Service

Jiji was one of the best parts of Kiki's Delivery service. Im so glad this film was part of my childhood, I still love it to this day. Also Rest In Peace to Phil Hartman.

Reminds me a lot of Sabrina Spellman's smart-mouthed cat Salem.

Love that of all the actors they could get for the english dub, they got Phil Hartman. Best choice imo

Sadly the 2010 Blu-ray remove all of Jiji's added lines, love them so I play the other dub myself.

@@lancethefilmguy9392 It was not part of the Japanese lines, all others lines are there just not the ones you'll see on the old DVD/VHS. Thankfuly you can download rips that have all var. of the dub on one file.

@@GreyWolfLeaderTW Jiji is still male in all dubs of Kiki's Delivery Service. In Japanese culture, talking cat voices have that sort of feminine esque voice for both genders, while here in the US, talking cat voices are more gender specific.

Phil Hartman was very talented, I grew up watching him in The Simpsons, and hearing him voice Jiji in the film was hilarious and entertaining. RIP Phil Hartman

There's a lot more that Jiji had to say in the earlier releases of the movie back in 1998 and 2003, unfortunately its hard to come by. I found the 2003 DVD edition a few months back.

I love it so much, that every synchronization of the Ghibli films have individual dialogues. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of the english voices in the film. And I'm not a big fan of Kiki's english voice, I think the german voice suits her better. But with Jiji it's just like you took the english voice actor, teached him german and gave him a different script. The humor and the irony is the same

I'm still confused why he lost his voice. I think it was a loss of mentor trope but he was happy as a regular cat though.

I don't think he actually lost his voice. I'm pretty sure that Kiki just couldn't understand him because she temporarily lost her powers.

I think it was because Kiki matured as a witch once she got her flying powers back. Once a witch matures, they can no longer understand their cat.

Most of the times the english dub is one of the worst together with french solely because of MALUBULUL german dub is often pretty amazing but just like mulubulul in naruto it sound like absolute and utter garbage naruto just isnt so nice with its dub except of course pain (eng dub) that man gives me chills
