I Love Lucy | After years of living side by side, the Ricardos leave the Mertzes

Фильм және анимация

After years of living side by side, the Ricardos leave the Mertzes, after a bittersweet departure, and begin their new life in the suburbs.
I Love Lucy is an American television sitcom starring Lucille Ball, Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance, and William Frawley. The black-and-white series originally ran from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957, on CBS. All 180 episodes aired on Mondays.
In total 180 episodes of I Love Lucy were produced, plus a pilot episode. The pilot, which was not made for broadcast and did not air as part of the show's original run, is generally not counted as one of the episodes and therefore listed separately for reference. It is, however, available on DVD and Blu-ray releases of the first season. Following I Love Lucy, a further 13 one hour-long episodes were produced under the title of The Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Show (later and more commonly known in syndication as The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour) with the same cast and later packaged as seasons 7, 8 & 9 under the I Love Lucy series.

Since most shows have NOT been on the airwaves for a couple of decades (unless you count satellite TV), you should consider changing your phrasing. Online streaming has been the delivery vehicle for original programming recently & before that there was cable.

It was bittersweet episode. But I loved how later on the mertz moved to be with the Ricardos. It would not have been the same without them being with Lucy and Ricky. The 4 of together was just so epic and beautiful.

I remember being upset with Betty Ramsey because I thought she was going to replace Ethel. Then lo and behold the Mertz's moved to the Country and my world made sense again. Of course I was 5 years old then.

0:50 [ETA: Also 1:54] Man, Lucy & Vivian had such chemistry between them, even in serious moments! I could FEEL how hard it was for their characters to part! I'm so glad they went on to play housemates in The Lucy Show in 1962. It was great to see them as different characters unrelated to I Love Lucy. They were the funniest, most enduring, most widely recognized, & most beloved comedic duo ever, bar none. Dolls of them from their iconic candy factory scene were sold, and a postage stamp featured an image of Lucy & Ethel in that iconic scene. I know this is a comedy, but there were moments of this scene where I couldn't help but think of Lucille Ball visiting Vivian for the last time to say good-bye just days before Viv died from bone cancer. Lucie Arnaz always speaks highly of Viv & says she was at their house a lot when she was growing up. She would read her bedtime stories when she was a child. She said her mom cried for months over losing Vivian.

I still remember the evening our neighbor came to say goodbye on her wheelchair along her daughter. They were moving to their new house, permanently handing down the family house to a son to the family who’d finally gotten his wish granted. We were neighbors since before I seen light of day. I LOVED her sweet cinnamon rice dish. Nobody makes it like she did. I could hear her footsteps coming towards our home yards away and I’d peep from a hole in our door and .. yup, it’s her, alright! Waving the mouthwatering rice dish of hers up in the air as she walked along the sidewalk. Pretty nice lady. I was probably 7 back then. The night she came to say her last goodbyes .. I was a woman over 30 of age. She stayed in touch by calling our home every once in awhile.. calls that grew fewer overtime among the following years until she called no more. She wasn’t overweight if you imagined her that way for waving the dish up in the air ha ha.. she was only short and walked funny. I miss her! I shall remember her for life. She cried at the departure and .. we weren’t the only house she stopped by to say goodbye to in her wheelchair. That nice she was.. yeah. 🍃💐🥲
