ABOUT THE GLOW UP DIARIES: At rock bottom I picked up a camera and began documenting my physical and mental pain that seemingly existed without meaning. From age 17 to 22 years old I recorded the “Glow Up Diaries” which is a raw docu-series of my deepest, most painful moments in an effort to find a newer, brighter existence. I openly share my difficulties despite the insistence of the media that such “shameful” feelings be kept in a closet.

    a tip from my doctor for anyone that’s hating their bodies: stay away from numbers, your goal should be to have a body you feel great in. don’t let the numbers control you like they did to me

    i like looking at the number. i dont have a flat stomach, but im 5'4 and 110lbs at 14, which is really what a flat stomach would be. either way glad its helped you!

    I agree numbers should not control you, but a lot of people think they feel "great" at an unhealthy weight. I have an easy time knowing when I feel satisfied while eating, and I never get that gross "full" feeling. My body knows when to stop to maintain my current weight. A lot of people don't know the difference, and they feel satisfied after they feel full. Their ghrelin levels are weird. These people must use at least a vague numbers system, because they never understand why they aren't losing weight .

    when you said "exercise is a celebration of what your body can do, not a punishment for what you ate" brought tears to my eyes. This recovery to a healthy lifestyle is definitely hard, but you really motivate me. I've gained a good healthy amount of weight!! Sometimes it's hard to see that it's a good thing with this disorder but it's all for my health. You're doing sooo great Alivia. Thank you for sharing your journey. Really inspiring

    I think I have an eating disorder, I constantly feel the need to eat and this causes me to chew my nails and my lips and the inside of my mouth. Whenever I’m not eating I feel weird and wrong :c I’m probably just a normal teen

    When you talked about eating and you said “I only knew far right or far left” I felt that. I don’t know how to control what I eat. I always eat a looot and then I feel bad. But I don’t know when to stop so I then eat very little and it’s not a healthy amount. What IS the middle??

    My mom told me that if u eat a little bit of healthy things like fruits (not a lot of friut tho) and vegetables as a snack and then u can eat it whenever ur hungry or just need to eat something. It wont make u gain any weight bc ur only eating alittle bit of it. I started doing that along with jogging around my block and i lost 30 pounds in 9 months.

    Try to cut more unhealthy sugars and over processed foods out of your diet while still allowing small treats :) that way u can still eat a lil of your favourite foods and it helps me not binge on junk food as much.

    lane here’s my advice, drink a lot of water and count your calories , and exercise , if you hate exercise like i do try exercises that you enjoy , maybe go have a 30min walk every morning or try biking ,it’s my favorite btw ,i hope this helped you and motivated you to turn your life around, i believe in you dear 😊✊✊

    moonxiu subliminals i agree with you, but at the same time you need to know how much food you’re eating, i think people should try counting calories but not obsess over, i wouldn’t recommend using a diary because that will make you obsess over it, instead you should estimate how much you’re eating

    Looking at her weight right now. 1:40 . I’m an 11 year old turning 12 next month. I weigh 125 pounds, just 3 below her. To other people, they just feel bad and tell me it’s fine and that there are plenty of other girls who are a little overweight. But to me, that’s not even what I’m thinking about. Last month, my oldest brother asked the family if they wanted to workout in his room. He thought it was a good way to have family time and for us to have muscle. Before he that month, I had basically body shamed myself. I wasn’t happy with how I looked. Although I kept telling myself, “ You are just a child. There’s no reason for you to feel bad for yourself. There is no reason why you should be worrying about what others think of you.” But i still wanted to look skinny. Like all the other girls I’d see at school. I wanted to be skinny, pretty, and confident. I wanted to have someone who like me. Just atleast one person. But since my brother has encouraged me to workout and get muscle, I have been telling myself that you shouldn’t need to impress anyone. You don’t need to look good for any boys. You don’t need to feel sad for yourself because of your weight. Ever since last month, I have been confident. This is a small message for all you girls out there struggling to look like those beautiful models. You don’t need to impress anyone but yourself. Be proud of yourself! EDIT:Thank you to anyone who is reading this. I want people to just understand. But what I’m trying to say is to take it easy. Before you start working out and getting muscle, block out all the toxic people stopping you. Block out any negative thought about yourself. Ignore what people have said. Just think about you. Remember - you are doing this for you. To make you feel better emotionally and physically.

    I went through something like this last year, I gained a lot of weight when I stopped caring for myself. I than lost it and went back to a healthy skinny body. I was so happy but then my depression returned and now here I am at the heaviest weight of my life, doing it all over again. It’s hard when you have to do it a second time.     I can relate to you so much. Whenever I get bouts of depression (once or twice a year) I lose all motivation and become extremely unhealthy (stop exercising, eat only junk food, eat waaaaay past the point of feeling full sometimes to the point of purging) and end up gaining weight. But then when I'm no longer depressed, I exercise consistently and eat healthy (and really enjoy it). I'm really envious of people who don't have depression; it messes up my life in every way (mentallly, physically, health-wise, productivity-wise, socially, etc). It's a never-ending cycle 😞

    Girl, just a tip for you when you’re going to the gym: Do exercises with the correct form. It’s mostly to get the most out of your workout but also prevent injuries. I saw your push-up form and you have to engage your core and position your pelvis correctly. If that’s difficult, do push ups on your knees. I did burpees, planks and push ups with a wrongly positioned pelvis and hurt my left quad real bad. I’m currently going to a physiotherapist for having an incorrect form while exercising. Don’t be like me, check your form.

    7:23 I actually find the complete opposite works for me. When I have sugar I crave sugar, if I just stop eating sugar then I don't want sugar anymore. That might just be an everyone's different thing idk.

    well our tastebuds reset every 20 some days so that’s why you dont desire sugar if you go a certain amount of time without it. that’s why it’s so important to have a well balanced diet, INCLUDING sugar, but of course balancing with meat (if you eat meat), vegetables, etc.

    Oh my goodness, you‘re an angel. You have no idea how good it feels seeing a youtuber who is finally honest and who has the same problems.     Take pictures instead, weight doesn't really do much to show change bc it fluctuates a lot and is based on a lot of factors so just take pics every week or every few days

I started going to the gym since this May and have been regularly doing it, skipping only sundays. I even did IF and slowly lost my weight (lost a total of 4kg) in 3-4 months. But i restricted myself so much that i started having all kinds of cravings. Even sugars which i have been successfully avoiding for a whole year. I gained back all my weight in 1 month plus 2 kgs more. I'm currently starting over!

    The first episode of this series was in my recommend. Two weeks ago I decided to take a break from instagram, due to a toxic mental state of mind. I have severe anxiety and body problems. I view myself in a negative way and although this comment will be lost in a comment section, I will want to tell what I’m thinking just watching these videos. I’m a freshman. Even though I can’t do as much as you have right now I never knew where to start to become more positive. I still don’t. I do have goals, but I never know how to start or stay consistent with the process to get to them. Seeing you go through breakdowns, fighting mentally, and not knowing how to balance things out makes me realize I can also glow up. It does take motivation and willpower, It takes being strong with yourself and learning along the way. I want to learn how to grow and escape this game my mind has trapped me in. It’s currently 12 : 13 am and I have school later today. I will do my best in reaching my goals, learning from Alivia, and making sure that my being is as safe and healthy as I can make it feel. I’m inspired by you, you’ve come so far. I hope to find my own ways of motivation and self realization as you have. Thank you for documenting this process for others who are going through similar issues.

    the amount of intelligence this series has/is has boggled my mind, whether it be weight loss problems or just a simple lack of being able to get into a routine, your videos help me on a daily to see the light and whats so hard to get when you're down in the dumps..     It surprised me how relatable you are!! I'm also trying to lose weight currently (my 3rd week ) and everything in you said in this video, from "working out to burn calories" to "attempting intermittent fasting and later realise that's not for everyone" and to "believing evey word the media says", that's what I'm going through too.     It’s really crazy wonderful seeing this video and realizing I’m not the only one going through what she’s going through. I’m just starting to notice the bad behaviors I’ve picked up were out of ignorance and insecurity. This just makes me even more motivated to change and become better at taking care of the body gifted to me.

    I have been on a weight loss journey for a few years now and I randomly found your diaries a few months ago. They may not have inspired me to lose weight, but they were the first example of a healthy weight loss that I encountered. This helped me out so much and I think back to things you said throughout the series. The tricks, facts and encouragement you have given to everyone have stuck to my mind for months now so thank youu so much for making this series. Congrats on your glow up and thank you for helping me with mine.

    My friend reccomended me watching you and your glow up diaries and I am so impressed, seeing how this journey is turning out it only motivates me more to accomplish MY goals :D yesterday I started my own diary as well and I'm writing down all your tips, mistakes, lessons cause I have seen that I also had almost the same problems at first like you, so thank you for shoving it in my face and make me concious about my mistakes and how I should actually handle it.     Thank you so much! I'm training for my black belt, and one of the requirements is that we don't eat sugar for three months before the test. I'm not much of a dessert person, but I do enjoy the occasional piece of dark chocolate, so the sugar thing's kind of a struggle for me. I'll definitely give your advice a try

    When I saw ,,Glow up diaries episode 9 next wednesday'' I started laughing but then I went on instagram and Alivia said that she is going to suprise us, so I am excited for that. And Alivia thank you for everything. I am on a Glow up journey from Monday and I am doing great so far and this video helped me a lot.❤❤
