@@edwardnygma8533 The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku is a classic vocaloid song which became popular due to having Miku rap faster than is possible for most humans. It’s about her contemplating the ways in which she can only exist with outside help and how maybe the only choice she can ever have is whether or not to keep working as a program. This comment references it since it’s seen as sort of the quintessential self-aware Miku ballad. Hope this helps :-).

If there were a creator god, how would we really be any different from Miku? Or how is Miku's relationship to Louie different from our relationship with such a creator? Of course if there is no transcendent creator we can rest far more comfortably, sitting on the edge, dangling our feet over oblivion, singing our own songs to ourselves as long as we're around to hear them

I can only imagine how strange it must have felt when you played this back for the first time after completing it. How many other musicians can claim they've had the experience of writing a song only for it to immediately turn around and blame them for its existence?

Read a few short stories based around this concept. The idea that a fictional character is only "alive" when we're reading them; so-long as there are unread pages left, their actions possess the same unpredictability of a real person's. But once a story is finished, they drop into the past-tense. No-longer "doing" only "did." It's like opening Schrödinger's box and finding the dead cat inside.

Jack Stauber's "Video man" is kinda like this, but for the audience! It's so short, but so catchy- so you replay it. The video man says he'll sing it again for you, even though he's jealous of you for not being caged in the screen on loop like he is.

@@renatal.129 | Sorry, most of 'em were unpublished works encountered during creative writing workshops. Lots of high-concept stuff, like protagonists arguing with their narrators and things. Weirdly, one of the only times I saw the idea in published media was in a children's book titled _We Are In a Book_ in which a cartoon elephant and pig panic about their dwindling page numbers, and try to find ways to stall the reader. It's played as simple comedy, but it really can't escape this subtext of existential horror. If I had to recommend a single piece of media that more thoroughly explore these sorts of ideas, though, I'd say go play The Stanley Parable. Probably the best exploration of the relationship between storyteller and audience I've ever encountered. It's also very, very funny.

There's plenty of albums like this existant specifically within the vocaloid sphere. The one that comes to mind for me is the Infinity series, which covers a loose concept of Miku's questioning of her existence as a piece of software (similar to what this song describes). It's split over three albums, with songs reappearing pretty often over all three so I recommend (at least at first) just listening to The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku (the album not the song with the same name) which covers most of it. Of course like most vocaloid works it is in Japanese, so you'll need to read translated lyrics alongside it to experience the story but it's fairly well made and even received a novelisation which does have an official english translation you can pick up.

Any old barbershop song would sound cute in Vocaloid, but you managed to write something that's only impactful BECAUSE it's performed by a Vocaloid. It's a song in a traditional style that actually can't be replicated in the traditional way. Really cool stuff, Louie.

i have a voice (a voice) i sing your tune (your tune) i sing about the sun and stars and moon but in the end (the end) it's up to you i sing your song, that's all i ever do every note (my note) is made by you (by you) so what's a blue-haired, pigtailed girl to do? in the end (the end) i make no sound but oh the songs i'd sing if you weren't around! (around) i sing your song all night long never wrong but I just sing along [oooooooo] the tune is done and i'm a star i feel so close, and yet so very far and in the end (the end) it's up to you i sing your song that's all i ever do

This makes me really want a cover of Miku singing ABBA's "Thank You For the Music". This song is like a bittersweet antithesis to it and yet having Miku sing it would capture a similar feeling to what you've done here. Really excellent!

This is one of the most self-aware Vocaloid songs I have ever heard and I think it's awesome. Ironically, if this played before the intro to The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku in a live setting and in the same key, I wouldn't be upset at all. The West and the East making songs about Miku contemplating her existence.

When I clicked on this video the first time, I just came here bc "oh look, a bunch of miku's in barbershop quartet outfits, that's hilarious." I did NOT expect the song to be about Miku having an existential crisis. I did get what I came here for, though, so I call this a win

I caught that sneaky 'doo-wop' one of the Miku's sang at the end. Wouldn't be a Louie joint without a hint of joy tossed in there.
