Boots take time to break in, roughly 2 weeks. So renting boots that may or may not have been broken in properly and complaining they are no better than broken in boots makes more sense than you know.

Yes. But his specific complaint is that there was no control with the boots. Typically that’s due to them being soft, breaking the them in creates softness. so I’m not sure that you’re complaint is warranted here

His original complaint was that he was never using burton boots again and switching to vans instead. This was due to rental boots performing much worse than well-worn boots. Control comes from many things, not just tight boots.

So no one brand is the magic brand for boots. Going to your local boardshop and trying on whatever boots you think you might like, in a couple different sizes, is certainly the move. And if you are hesitant on the prices of new boots, there will likely be some on sale from last season either in store or online somewhere. Hope this helps, boots are the number 1 most important piece of equipment. If you arent comfortable, you arent staying on hill having fun. Happy shredding!

Boots are very much like shoes, different people need different things. If you buy things purely based off the brand you’re gonna end up getting disappointed most of the time

I started with Burton photons boa then tried vans aura pro. The burtons are super comfy for me and the vans hurt my feet. It’s all preference.

What everyone really needs is to go a ski and snowboard shop and get a proper boot fit. Everyones foot is a little different and all the boots are a little different. Heel size, last, arch height, and instep volume are all very important for a performance fit and if you go to a ski shop they will know which boots they carry that will fit your foot best.

Hard to find legit shops that hire anyone with gear knowledge anymore.

Got me a pair of DC's. Stiff as hell, but comfortable, just the way I like it.

The only Burton products I use are gloves/mittens and base layers. Just started wearing Nitro boots after years of vans and I absolutely love them.

Vans warranty goes trough their online store and not trough the dealer...so if something breaks and online store is sold out(usually mid season) no recourse to get new boots...Vans sucks!

I love my 32’s, so lightweight and they fit my wide foot perfectly

Rental boots are for beginners brow. That’s why😂

Isn’t it that you need to get used to a boot, to feel how to properly control it?

Ride boots for me. Their fit to my foot is magical.

Nah, those boots were trash. If I was going to blame bad riding on boots it would have been those 3 year old vans with no inner support laces. This video isn't that deep though. Just explaining why I went with vans. 11 days on the new vans this winter and they are so comfy and stiff. No heel slip issues like I was having in that video. Definitely room for improvement on my riding though. Always will be. Cheers

@@thegoodobserver I'm not a burton fan neither, but you should know what you are getting when you put on those boots, you cant really blame a brand because you tried on a rental boot which prolly had hundreds of days on. Ride according to your limit or the limit of your gear, otherwise you'll get in trouble regardless of what gear you are using.

Got 30 years of riding under my belt. I’ve had lots of boots. I’ve had burton boa boots. Worst boot ever. My god my feet would cramp in those boots. DC park boot with laces is my favorite boot. Comfortable, won’t over tighten them, they break in nicely. I could wear them all day with no problems.

I just got my first new pair of boots after 25 years... I had no idea how to lace them up, so much new technology on them with the twist knobs .😂 I'm still riding a 1990 Rad-Air all mountain board with metal bindings.

Ions are prety much the only boots that fit my narrow feet. Maybe some salomon will. But those ions are just really nice

I used a used pair of Burton boots from 09-24. Sole finally fell off 2 weeks ago after probably 20 years of riding. I'm sure Vans makes some nice boots, but give me a break. Burton has made a name for themselves for a reason.

I got a pair of very high end burton boots back in the day... not comfortable, poor support. Got some vans high standards and rode those for 5 seasons until I blew out the BOA. Got some solomons I love, but they're breaking down after 3 years, so just picked up brand new set of AURA Pros, feel great out of the box before even molding the liners.

I still have some Vans BFB's from 2006 or so. Hundreds of says on the snow. I've repaired them a handfull of times and they still feel and perform better than any other boot I've worn.

A.Boots are most important part of setup B. Rental boots are disgusting🤮 C. Been riding Vans good boots since the 90s. My kid has Vans double Boa. I ride with a pair of ThirtyTwos which is another good brand

Aurora Pro are the best boots I had, sadly they did it a bit softer so had to move to something different 😅

Yup. I got new DC top of the line models this season.. But I'm having trouble because my 17 year old 32s are still more comfy and stiffer...and look WAY better....no BOA though...

Nah man, if it works for you then that's all that matters. For me, I really like the BOA system and to get a burton comparable to the Vans I bought, I'd have to spend $540. The Vans cost $289. 10 years ago I had the burton motos, without the BOA system, and they were great. Happy Shredding to ya!

No way !!!, i,v got burton 22,23 photon step on boots and genesis binding,s omg so stable so much support the edge to edge riding on these boots and binding is fantastic, ❤🤗😎🙃

Had buttons that lasted me 2 seasons and blew apart. 1 step in the vans and I was sold forever.

Are you blaming the boots for eating a snow cone on the mountain?

That’s why I chose DC step in boots over Burton. Much more comfortable and the boots perform very well. IMO DC came out on top!

Go with the lace up version over BOA if you plan on riding more than 20-30 days a season.

I have the vans infuse boots I remember the first day I tried them, my buddy let me borrow his boots to see if I liked him before I bought a pair and changed everything about the way I was riding.

What an advertisement. I dont like burton but ya man your boots were worn in. So they were comfy and you were used to them. A brand new boot that hasn’t been broken in isn’t as comfy and takes a run or two to get used to. What a kook

Not always the case. I was curious to see how my old broken in boots felt compared to my new pair, and to my surprise it felt like I had no control and wasn't sure how I rode in them in previous seasons 😂 the new pair leveled up my riding.

You cant just say this...burton has many different boots. Photons are the sturdiest boots Ive ever had and they are step ons. They are FTW! Blows vans away

DC dual boas! Been the best boots so far for me

I’ve ride burton Ion and ill never get anything else. They are a stif enough for those ice coast days and then you can let out the top BOA for the park. If you like the fit of Nike then Burton is great. If you like New Balance which is a little wider of a fit than Burton may not be for you. Ride what you like but don’t hate on the Burton just because.

Just sharing my experience. Those Ions are $550 new and don't last that long. Another commenter said they love Ions too but they only get about 100 days of riding out of them. Just seems crazy for a boot that expensive. That being said, no hate towards burton. Just a little criticism. At the end of the day go with what works best for you. Glad you found a boot you love!

Love this channel, but this isn't a fair video. Try Burton Ions or Drivers. My Ions are solid in any condition, though they're usually coming apart at the end of an 80 day season. But with the Burton warranty I've gotten a new pair, no hassle, every Spring. But the best boot I own is the Nitro Capital TLS. An incredible boot with a smaller footprint than Burton, Van's, Ride, anything I've owned or tried in 28 years of riding. Give Nitro a try. Every one of their boots it top notch. Just my $0.02

I appreciate your feedback. This most definitely isn't a fair in-depth review and the title of the vid may be a little too hyperbolic. I'll change it to be more accurate. This was more just the sequence of events that lead me to the vans boots. Another factor I didn't discuss was price. For me to get a pair of burtons comparable to the vans it would have cost atleast $100 - $200 more. The nitro capital tls is around $540 while the vans aura pros are $289. I'm interested in the burton warranty and glad you mentioned it. That's a huge factor I hadn't considered. I'll look into it. Hope to make some actual in-depth, fair reviews in the future. It's not financially smart right now for me to review too many items because I'll be buying them all myself. Should the channel continue to grow I'll reach out to different companies and see if they'll send items to review free of charge. One can dream. You probably have a widish foot. Burton boots are super narrow. This is why everyone should just go to a boot fitter.

That's a good point. Could very well be. My heal just kept slipping up when I was using those burtons. The title of the video is a little hyperbolic. I had a pair of burtons 10 years ago that were great. It was just my experience this past winter that really made me love the vans. Cost is another huge factor but there wasn't enough time to go into that in the short. I'd like to make a more in-depth boot review/comparison in the future. Width is an important factor that I wasn't considering. thanks for the comment. Cheers!

@@thegoodobserver glad you found a boot you like! Vans also fit my foot well. Once you find the brand for you don’t change it. They generally base future designs off the same foot mold. Motorcycle helmets handle this best since they sell by head shape + size.

just got burton boots for the first time after riding for almost 10 years, probably wouldnt go back to wearing anything else.

Solomon makes the best boots imo

I'm sure one day everyone will have their own version. I almost went with that set-up because their was a used pair of step-in boots on fb marketplace for cheap. Decided to wait until I can first try that type of set-up. How have you liked the step-ins? Do they ride the same a typical bindings?

Maybe you have a wide foot? Someone left a comment saying burton is made for narrow feet and that's probably why I don't like them. When you're ready for a new pair check out the vans aura pro. $289 new. Btw, I have no affiliation with vans. Just really like their boots. Cheers!

Burton is like the Kia of snowboard products. It's easy to do better.

Salomon boots fit my feet so well, I've gone through 3 pairs of Dialogues lol. Recently I branched out to DC boots and have been happy with fit etc. Burton boots just don't fit my foot outline. I would always get discomfort. Salomon and DC boots I can where all day long fresh out of the box with no discomfort. I don't even heat mold

Shouldn't judge equipment based on rental gear. Rental shops carry the cheap of the cheapest garbage. Just like the snowboards they rent... It might have the Burton logo on it, but it's surely a piece of trash. I also say that not being a fan of Burton but you can't judge just by rental shops.

Lost balance in a bump and hit the ice patch... boots have no control 😂 wtf since when boots give control. Id not diss burton much maybe to stiff of thick for your liking so you can enjoy park riding vans. Once you get on snowmobile or traverse something for good freeride you might want thick stiff insulated burtons depends what you do 😊

Vans are so far ahead of everyone else. The only brand that’s really competing with them is Solomon imo.

If you like stuff boots, you can’t beat Ride.

Not just that but it was only a 60 second short. The rentals were burton photons.

If you want the best and most comfortable snowboard boots, go for a pair of Salomon. Been using quite a few brands and Burton are really not that good. Try a set og Salomon and you'll never want a different pair..

Just forget about brands and buy boots most comfortable for your foot

@@thegoodobserverno just their boots. Zion board only because I have had a hook up as long as we made footage. Binding were the the old P1s by Burton. Had a bunch of them so just stuck with them.

I had to get new gear Dec ‘20 for work (on Dollar) and I haven’t bothered to buy new stuff yet 🙄. But my Solomon’s are where it’s at. Plus I put custom foot beds in them (from Sure foot) and now they’re a dream. ❄️❄️❄️

Never blame your equipment. It’s usually the writers technique. If the boots suck, they suck the boots are the most important part of your gear not to mention your skill.

Burton Boots have become so horrible and also short lasting rubbish. Been riding Nitro Boots and they are in my opinion far superior.

So man things wrong here. First put a helmet on. Second a rental boot is going to be designed for comfort not function. They’ll be the softest boot you can buy. Third Burton is going to make a range of boots from top shelf quality to bargain quality. They’re a big company they can do that they make money on the trash gear and the best gear. Fourth your facial hair is wack. Fifth your beanie, wack.

I love the BOA system. Gets the boots tighter than I can with normal laces and if it breaks almost every shop in town has replacement parts. What do you prefer?

I use Cabela's Inferno 2,000-Gram Boots, I know most snowboarders would hate the more grippy parts on the bottom as opposed to a more flat boot, but I love them. Warmest pair of boots to use when out in really freezing temperatures when hunting, snowboarding, or ice fishing.

To each his own. I've only owned burton boots up until now. The vans dominate for a fraction of the price. Plus they last longer. New burton Ions are $540 and last about 100 days. New Vans Aura Pros are $289 and last about 300 days. This is definitely not an in-depth review though. Just an opinion. I'd like to do more serious reviews in the future so stay tuned. What's your favorite boot?
