So October 27th, 2021 marked me and my wife's 3rd wedding anniversary, and a few months earlier around mid-July, I came up with the idea to do something special to celebrate and let her know how happy she makes me and how thankful I am of all the help she's been giving me to get through the pandemic and to get my career going. This particular song, a Horror-Icon parody of "I Want It That Way" by the Backstreet Boys, is one of her favorites. And it holds a special place for her because whenever she's feeling depressed, I serenade it to her in an effort to cheer her up. Thus we consider this one of "our songs"
So I thought about originally just doing the cover with nothing else attached, but once again I become a slave to my ambition. So I decided to commission Lightning Bliss to make an animation to it and make a secret attempt to couple it with this year's Halloween Riff with me, Bliss, Katie & Aeon. However because of copyright, the completed riff went into appeal limbo and we had to wait for it to go through or simply make a redirect link to it. But that wasn't the only thing that pushed this back so much.
Whenever I tried recording it without my wife's knowledge, (thankfully the walls in our place are so thick she can't hear me recording in the other room when she's sleeping), I was noticing my singing range was beginning to change quite drastically. I was sounding more pitchy, my higher notes weren't as strong, and it felt harder to hold onto longer notes or avoid sounding scratchy, almost like I was going through a second puberty. That led to a lot of self-doubt and negative thoughts that prolonged production. Thankfully I was able to use a new program I discovered called Melodyne to fine-tune my vocal as needed. So yeah this is technically auto-tuned, but it's so subtle you wouldn't be able to notice. Doesn't change the fact my perfectionist tendencies had me doing so many retakes of each harmony. UGH! -_-
Either way, I toiled away at this for quite a few months to try and make it as good as possible, and it was one of the most nerve-racking projects I've ever produced. But I'm quite pleased with the end product, and I'd like to hope the love of my life feels the same.

As a latecoming G4 brony, now I know why Lightning Bliss called Thespio "uncle song horse". That was a incredible performance! Not sure about that uncalled for interruption, but the cover/parody was really spot-on with the notes. My wife was going "aawwwwwwww" at the end after all is done. The Slashstreet Boys? 'The Nightmare on Elmstreet Boys.' sounds catchier! I know I could've said just The Elmstreet Boys but not everyone would get the reference and it wouldn't sound as frightening, and the nod/concept of the band wouldn't catch. None the less.
