Honestly, GIDLE never disappoints and are constantly progressing with their MVS and storylines within them. “Super Lady” is their TITLE TRACK from their second full album labeled “2” which dropped on January 29th 2024. For this album, Soyeon had a hand in songwriting, arrange, producing, and contributing to the composition of ALL 8 songs in the album. In this album, Miyeon also contributed for the first time and then Yuqi along with Minnie are in the album’s production credits. By the way each member represented some kind of iconic woman (good and/or bad which btw Medusa and Cruella were not always "evil" persay) but the idea here is that all confidence and POWER by women should be acknowledged and even celebrated. Super powered ladies who are here to CONQUER the world, put it that way. GIDLE are known to be one of the more progressive overall kpop groups especially when it comes to calling out the patriarchy and representing women empowerment and feminism. These are who the members are speculated to symbolize based on their appearances, traits, and backgrounds in the MV 2:48 Miyeon: Cleopatra 2:23 Minnie: Medusa 2:08 Soyeon: Athena 2:31 Yuqi: Cruella de Vil 2:28 Shuhua: Marie Antoinette ^ also currently Shuhua and Minnie have been sick but news just came out that Shuhua is temporarily halting all activities for this album’s promotions as of now due to ongoing health concerns. gidle is my favorite female kpop group...soyeon is one of the true genuises in kpop...

This is probably one of the reasons gidle mostly has female fans because they aren't afraid of calling out men and misogyny lol.. most of their songs is for female empowerment, and very feminist. NewJeans is like that too if you read their lyrics especially for the song "ETA"

Soyeon said the outfits were partly inspired by Beyoncé ❤❤❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Idle loves poking conventions in the eye. And they all seem to be on the same page with the "We're going to make some people mad." strategy. I like that.

Yea song selection is probably the most important part of a reaction channel. The cornerstone. It can be hard weeding out all the mid suggestions you probably get.

*"SUPER LADY"* MV has many shout outs to other girl groups in the visuals and some lyrics. Y'all being new to Kpop wouldn't have caught any but it's like an homage to some colleagues. It was reported that the MV is their most expensive to date costing $1.1 billion Won which is close to a million USD. The company only covered half the cost, the members paid the other half. *FYI:* - *LISA* Blackpink announced today the start of her own company called *LLOUD* she is now the 3rd member to start her own company. *JENNIE* started *OA (ODD ATELIER)* and *JISOO* started *BLISSOO* with her brother *ALSO* - *SORN* of *CLC* will release an MV today at 10am EST called *"COOL"*

To clarify since a lot of people have misinterpreted their statement about paying half the cost. That has nothing to do with going over budget or even this specific MV, they pay half of everything in the sense that their contract is a 50/50 profit split with Cube, so all expenses subtract from the profit they get to share. They mentioned it this comeback to make clear such a huge budget is also their risk, but with how crazy IDLE's sales are these days they are doing more than just fine with this type of contract :)

"For this MV they agreed to take half of profits for the members" not what they said at all, how does paying half the cost translate to 50% less profit than usual? Answer: it doesn't. A profit split for small groups at debut is not really "generous", there are a bunch that have that. A lot of them aren't in the plus at that point, it's only paying if they make it bigger.

I so admire Soyeon. She consistently lifts her team, pushing them to do more and better, and clearly sharing what she knows as a teacher (all of them rapping!) I am also even more convinced that some day she will direct a movie. lol Anyway, you've covered the MVs from the new album; I'll recommend 'Revenge' as a new, non-video song to react to. (It is not slow.) Oh, and I don't see 'Oh My God' on the list of prior reactions. It'ssss time!!

You might appreciate their performance on "It's live". They performed with a live band which gave it almost a hard rock feeling.

You guys absolutely have to check out a group called "Everglow". Incredibly underrated K-pop girl group producing top quality energetic music. I'd recommend starting with "First" or "Dun dun". I think you'll love them.

Amazing video!! I'll give this suggestion again: you guys should check NMIXX out, it's the strongest 4th gen vocal group (and it's not even close) Their music is a little too messy for some people, I personally love it, but their vocals are OUT OF THIS WORLD, no discussion about it. Specially Lily, the main vocalist. I'm sure Mr. and Ms. Coach would love it!

Excellent performance! These ladies have it! I am curious who wrote/produced this song because it is structurally very similar to the sort of thing we hear from BlackPink...shifts in texture...bits of rap inserted...whole dynamic changes for the ending section. The producers at the top of the game (which this one clearly represents) know how to get it done right.

(G)I-DLE's leader Soyeon has the primary credit for everything on Super Lady (same for a lot of IDLE's discography since the start already, it's actually getting less now since Yuqi and Minnie are also starting to get more involved in their last releases). Lyrics are hers alone, production along with "Pop Time", "Daily" & "Likey".

(G)I-dle is one of my favorite groups, they were TOP ONE group but after released trash song like "i want that" and now just meh songs like Superlady, Queencard, Tomboy - which are FARAWAY from quality of LION, Hann, Hwa...now Throne is empty;P IM really picky. BUT yes Perfomance MV was far better:)

Cube entertainment is getting criticized for being pity and cheap. The mv production was expensive a bit over $800k usd and cube only wanted to pay half of it while g-idle handle the other half. Pity bad company!! I mean g idle makes the bulk of cube entertainment $
