I Like it Raw - A 30 Day Journey to Better Health

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I Like it Raw explores the premise that food is medicine. This documentary follows 5 meat-eating Albertans with pre-existing health conditions for 30 days as they attempt to go fully 'raw' and reclaim their health.

I am a raw vegan myself.. read probably 10 books on how to do it effectively, make 100% of my meals at home. I would have broke if eating only the dishes promoted here. It was too light and fruit only. They did I'll give them credit, touch on sprouting lentils, but not one Almond or nut? To make a Raw Diet work, you have to give the body what it needs and craves: Salty Sweet and Fat, they presented Raw foods to be this restrictive thing that can't be done for longer than 30 days, and all went back to burgers and fries at the end. Real Raw foods is completely satiating, leaves you 100% satisfied, if you made it 30 days, you probably would not go back, if you were doing it right. The trick i use to make it work is high protein, high fat and lots of sweets. The nice thing about the Living/Raw spectrum is you can eat all the sweets you want and not gain weight. So Brownies, cookies, pies, Ice cream: it's all on the menu. To keep you full and not miss cooked food, get lots of fat and protein from things like avocados, Soaked nuts and Beans, and then you have a ton of lighter foods like the Salads Juices and which are fundamental to this journey. One of my favorites is Brownies with Almond Milk and Hot chocolate made with Cacao and vanilla bean. If there were one book I'd recommend it would be Living in the Raw by Rose Lee Calabro and her other two books. "Gourmet", and "Desserts" she cooks exactly like I'm describing, and was most fundamental to my success than any other cookbook because of her high fat/protein recipes and heavy on desserts so I didn't feel like I was missing anything. The only cravings for cooked food come, when you're hungry, and stop eating raw foods, just because you're raw, you don't want to stop eating, or calorie restrict, totally the opposite, you're raw which is a lot different than a "normal" diet, so you need to eat!! The only real challenge to this diet is to do it as I have mentioned you absolutely must invest in a Dehydrator 1-2 Juicers, Commercial blender like the Dynapro/Vitamix/Blendtec and a food processor among others like the spiralizer and my favorite: slap chop, for quickly chopping Garlic. Some of these things are not cheap, but you can build your kitchen up in pieces, the most important is to start buying cookbooks to get your head in the game. Good luck. This documentary was interesting, but left so many gaps so I hope this message helps someone who is searching for answers.

It was such a good video. It's realistic that everyone had a different experience, different willingness, and got different satisfaction from the food. I strughle with meal prep in general. I dont think i could do raw vegan, or vegan in a healthy way. The health benefits seem undeniable. But it is so divergent from how most people eat that it doesn't seem sustainable. The temperature of the food would be a big thing especially in winter... I dunno

The participants should have been taught how to eat healthy. You don’t need to go raw to lose weight and get rid of food addictions, learn to eat healthy. Whole food plant based diet is low in fat and calories. And it is much healthier than to eat only fruit, nut butter and oils. Oils are not healthy and very calorically dense . A healthy raw whole food diet should be based on green leafy vegetables ,fruits snd a little bit of nuts and seeds. Dr Brooke Goldner heals her patients with her raw protocol but you feel great and heal diseases with that diet.

This was a bit of a fail because they did not have any real guidance. The guidance is coming from someone who is eating chocolate and calling it a "detox"? "Superfood" is hype from the chocolate industry. I'm glad that at least Shane and his family could benefit. Dan clearly wanted the experiment to fail. How did they select these people? Who sponsored this? Maybe they're invested in the meat industry.

This is counter intuitive why would you eat ultra processed foods. It's an excuse to not be discipline. You're doing damage by having sugars, seed oils, flour that's saturated in herbicides and pesticides and so on. This is horrible advice!! It's a delusional way to believe you're doing right by your health. Avocados have a very small amount of protein almost non existent. If it isn't sustainable for you to eat only fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, nuts and seeds then you aren't on a raw plant lifestyle. You do you but don't fabricate bend the rules and pander with your unhealthy lifestyle. This life isn't for everyone it takes a willingness to do right by yourself it's true self love and nourishment!
