As a born and raised New Yorker I tried leaving NYC for LA to see how life is on the West Coast. From the food, to traffic, to the lifestyle, it was an interesting experience. I explore all over LA from Hollywood to Venice Beach and come to realize more about why so many people want to live here.

Indeed. LA is what you make of it. In LA, the city adapts to you. In NY, you adapt to the city.
Born and raised in So Cal all my life. Moved to NYC a few years ago and it feels so much more like home to me than Cali ever did. The beautiful buildings, change of seasons, being able to ditch your car for good, the variety of food, acitivites, etc. I'm definitely a New Yorker forever now!

The weather (when it's not freakishly cold) and the places are my favorite. I'm not much a fan of the residents since they're so jaded, but I love meeting people who are brand new here - they remind me how I first felt and how I always want to feel out here. Sean is so right - no matter how awesome you are, it takes a lot of work to make friends here. If you work or school remotely, goooooooood luck!
This video made sense to me more than any other NYC vs LA comparison video I've even seen, thanka man, you're really inspirational for me, keep on the GREAT work.
Hey thanks for this video Brett! We’re flying to LA next month and your recos are definitely going to be in our list😊 Hope you had an awesome time!❤️
I was born and raised in Chicago so I know the ins and out of the city and its downtown area,so yeah we get you brett. It's also a feeling you get when you're in the city that saw you grow up.
Actually all of Southern California has a nice and similar vibe. I've lived in LA, but I had friends from OC and ended up moving to OC and like it a lot. No place is perfect, but at least in OC you get that SoCal vibe but with less traffic and people lol. Some areas like Laguna Beach, are actually some of the most beautiful places on the West Coast imho.
@danmur2797

Agreed. OC beaches are great. In terms of urban areas I prefer LA over OC though. LA feels much more like a city. Many of its best known beaches are not great though, so OC has a plus over LA in that area.

Making me miss my time in LA and all the sunshine ☀️ Soundtrack on this vlog was 🔥 love laxcity and San Holo!
Why do people feel they have to generalize everything about these cities? Of course, L.A. isn't better than NYC. And NYC isn't better than L.A. Both cities are simply different. NYC appeals to some people. And L.A. appeals to others. Good grief.

I think you're absolutely correct that it makes a difference what we're used to. I grew up in San Diego and then lived for 5 years in Los Angeles. I've only driven into NYC from NJ one night for a hockey game, so I don't say I've really ever been to NYC. It intrigues me and I want to visit it and I'd even consider living there after I got to know it (because I prefer city life to rural life) but I KNOW I'd enjoy living in southern California again. I live in Virginia now and it has been interesting experiencing 4 seasons and I can drive 2 hours and see the beach, but it's very different from southern California and I miss it sometimes.

Dude I moved to nyc I’m an LA boy but yeah other than the traffic which is a skill in avoiding we just have a better life out here nyc is just damn near unsustainable these days so expensive and it makes you feel like a rat

I came here to look for new experiences, if you are a Nigerian you know this is heaven compared to where we are from, making it out of the rural, struggling in Togo, when you have amounted to some measure of success your eyes become open to new possibilities, I am definitely thinking of defying the norm of going to Dubai and visiting Los Angeles

I’m born/raised in Hawaii. I live in Santa Monica (but also live/work in Las Vegas part time) and solo travel the world often (heading to Costa Rica today and Brazil in April). Ride the bike path with my Yorkie, workout at the beach by that active lawn, treat myself to Urth Caffe often. I live living here because I can fly home to Hawaii pretty quickly and the weather is pretty good all year long compare to other places in the US. Fun to see you in my neighborhood ☀️

Being from North New Jersey, I go to NYC a good fair amount of times, so I'm rather familiar with NYC culture and taking the train or walking everywhere. But one thing I know about Los Angeles after going there a couple times is: you ABSOLUTELY NEED A CAR! No joke, everything is so far, and seems like an atleast 30 minute drive according to the GPS.
LA one of most beautiful place, spacially Beaches fun and all. Big like for your Vlog and waiting for your next video
wow cant thank u enough for this beautiful video 🥰
Moving to NYC soon, this vid makes me kinda wanna check out LA at some point
Cali is love! LA is a whole vibe!
Great video! I’d probably see myself in LA, but having to take the car everywhere…
I did the whole tourist thing visiting LA and San Fran but the one thing I realized is touring a place --especially with local friends -is quite different from living there. Locals would tend to take you to the best places and you will only have time to enjoy nice weather if you are only visiting. I have attempted to move to numerous places but I surprisingly liked only one place in the US I did not expect -Las Vegas. It's different for everyone but in my opinion you should only decide to move if you lived in a place for a while or at least have visited several times throughout the year
Great one Brett 🔥
If i would given a choose between nyc or La i would definitely go for nyc ,there is no particular reason but the vibes is just amazing in nyc ,and yes for the people with no cars it would be very hard in "La" as there is no accessible subways , and various modes of transportation like nyc , so for me nyc is best ,awesome and fabulous and thanks brett sir for another amazing video loved it .
NYC >>>>>>> LA. Having lived in both cities I can say with certainty that the social dynamics in New York are a million times more interesting. I talk about that in one of my latest videos.

Incredible video! Def New York! I live in Chicago and I love the city vibe! But damn.... its 18 degrees, today..... does make you rethink for just a moment... haha
From nyc too cali is a great place to visit. Can’t live there the pace is too slow. The weather is amazing 🤩
NYC HANDS DOWN!!! I loved living here... LA is cool and all but I feel you're going to spend way more living in LA. LA definitely not a city where you can just bike or take the subway everywhere. A car is a must have hence why they have the worst traffic. I see what you mean about people being so welcoming. I felt that same vibe after I moved to NYC.
I like the bigger houses, spaces, palm trees, warm weather and vibe of LA. Plus as you said, quick flights to Tokyo, Hawaii, Manila, Bangkok, Singapore etc. Ideally I'd have an apartment in Maui, LA, and NYC.

I’ve been to LA a few times on vacation, Hollywood, downtown LA, silver lake and Malibu and it’s all gorgeous and such a good time but not for me for living personally. Gorgeous places though and I love being there every single time. Sun life organics can take my money anyway for a delicious smoothie ❤️🥰

I live in New England & our brutal summers here are the same as NY. 100 degrees & the humidity is nasty. Summer of '23 June-Sept AC 24/7. Noreaster's, shoveling & driving the Pike to get to work? I'd trade Cali for the East Coast any day.
Always love your video man 🔥 Love from India ❤️
NYC for sure, escaping from the winters is nice
Ugh I love L.A, it’s such a vibe
I traveled to LA several years ago. At that time my friend and I didn't rent a car, walking on the road under Cali sunlight seemed so weird, there is no sidewalk for pedestrians. Target Shop was just across the highway. But it took us half an hour to walk there. The city is so spread out that having a car is a must.
The comments and no one getting to end 😂 these 50 degree days are giving me life again and the magic starts to come back for sure but I wouldn’t have minded going for a month or two to LA during Nov-Feb
Great video.. 👌🏻🥰
I'm from NYC and I'm still here unfortunately.. I've been to LA twice, and I'm ready to move there. I thought it was amazing the first time. I even brought my bf there the second time so he could experience it too. Although he hardly left Downtown LA so he wasn't fully impressed yet but he does love the weather. So I gotta try to get him out there again this summer. If you can make it here you can make it anywhere, and LA only requires a little time to adjust to and adapt the lifestyle. Anyone will have a culture shock moving out of an environment they've been in forever, animals sure do. I'm going to move to LA in the next 3 years!

Gonna be visiting California (and the U.S.) for the first time this May and moving to Los Angeles has always been a goal of mine! I grew up in London so I know exactly what you mean when you say you’re used to the whole hustle and bustle and being able to move around like you’re in a college campus. For me moving to LA would be a breath of fresh air so hopefully that all goes to plan! If I had to choose, I’d say LA for the quality of life and New York for how easy it is to get things done :)
