This game is surprisingly fun. just a few tips; 1) only give each god one nectar at first until you have given them all one. You will get keepsakes for each god to aid your runs. I highly suggest Skelly (the 'dummy' in your weapon selection area) as he will give you another 'death defiance' to use (another life) 2) In your weapon area with Skelly, you can choose different weapons to use each run. The one with a purple/dark glow will give you 20% more darkness when you receive it. Great for starting out. 3) You can destroy (and sometimes deflect with Athena's boons) nearly all projectiles coming at you. Dash strikes with lots of weapons can clear a large amount of projectiles. 4) The hammer, in my opinion, is by far the best upgrade you can hunt down. ALWAYS go for it, as it can change your playstyle drastically. That 'chop' attack you used, is one of my favorites for the sword.

Thanks for saving me the time to type these tips. Though it seems like DF doesn't know how armour works. Glad df made a video and hope there are more to come! Though I feel it's unlikely to become a staple as the meta progression is more story stuff.

I put my nectar and gems into the death defiance so I have three lives at a time, and my favorite weapon is the rifle; I use the hammer to get the giant AOE special that can hurt you, and I actually managed to beat Hades on my first time reaching the maze and beyond. If DF wants to go BIG damage, definitely build the rifle and get the giant AOE hammer modification for it.

Yeah, the sword has a ton of fun upgrades. The first time I beat the game, I did it with a combination of the cursed blade and the fast strike (forgot the name) upgrades, for the most brain dead playstyle ever! It was fun.

idk, only time I don't go for Hermes is when I have a hammer on offer as well. Even take him over Chaos. His attack speed up and Dodge chance can carry so many runs almost by themselves, and Side hustle is amazing if you get it early enough. Lets you be very liberal with your money, which means lots of extra boons, upgrades, or sustaining pool-items.

I used to hate him but then he gave me a +3 dash upgrade which turned my tidal dash into a something beautiful. Might not be optimal idk im new as well, but it looked pretty.

Hermes is great at making a decent build into an amazing one. I almost always go for hermes unless, like Silyon said, there's a hammer.

6:50 the stardew valley hole gives you more highly randomized boons but it can potentially give you a MASSIVE damage or resource boost, if you can survive a few rooms of the malus it also gives you the kind of gamble DF usually relishes :D

I think my favorite part about DF is that he goes into games like these totally blind, and he’s unusually better than me at all of them. I have nothing to give but respect.

how the hell someone dies to hydra? its even weaker then some champ rooms. even furies keep you busy unlike hydra who just sits there and no neckless hydra aint tougher... by time you meet it most bosses become easy

@@Aiveq Larry is hard if you are just starting and don't know the patterns, once you know them you win easy, but it's the same for every boss, they are pretty easy once you played a while

@@ferfer4410 i have yet to die to larry in all my runs. he has most telegraphed attacks and very small amount with majority of em deflectable to boost your damage. take asterius... bastard has two isntant moves that he replaces normal combo with and i still do not know why or whats the pattern. moves are first swing has wind up, sometimes he does instant. second is he replaces wind up on leap(3rd hit) with instant backswing. furies have dash and can unload bullet hell on you point blank. heck even megagorgon has less telegraph then hydra

Great video as always! For the rock guys that fall from that sky that you were complaining about taking too long to land, if you stop running for a second they will start their dive and then you can dash out of the way. Glad to see you making some Hades content. I’ve been obsessed with it!!

For the falling stone guys you can bait them into dropping by standing still and dashing out of the way at the last second to run in and attack them rather than running around the map waiting for them to drop. I seriously love this game and love to see you playing it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

So glad somebody I follow is playing this game! Some tips, always try to get Athena's dash shield (it really helps you avoid damage in the long run), only gift nectar to each god once, and use the shield (really the reason I finished the game the first time)

shield, aspect zeus+zeus special+bigger lighting+% double lighting. throw out special, stand inside and block till need to relocate or everything dies gun, aspect whateve+triple special+dionysus cast+dmg for special+dmg for cast. if you like artillery bow, aspect zagreus+doom special+doom stack+more arrows on special+boost doom. shoot point blank special>profit gloves, aspect demeter+demeter attack+aphrodite special+backstab dmg+weaken duration+chill dot. bonus dmg from 2 debuffs and back stabs plus extra hits from aspect with most powerful special amp? yes want some more broken stuff? this game allows for plenty of flexibility to get broken

@@Aiveq no one really talks about it, but chao shield with heavy heavy dio special investment OR chaos shield with Doom on special. its not as potent in 1.0 as they changed the spread on chaos shield to a cone when it used to be 360 and track better, but its still absolute easy mode the game.

@@ShadowAraun shield is broken all together... get hammer upgrade that shoots bullet instead of bull rush, sit in a corner and shoot away... you wont die and still do decent damage even with subpar boons

@@Aiveq funny you mention the worst upgrade honestly, the dash has i frames which is part of what makes shield PERFECTLY. BALANCED.

@@ShadowAraun split second where you need to know where it begins vs variety of enemy attacks vs press and hold invulnerability from front that you switch on a dime? and worst upgrade? it lets newbies take their time to learn patterns while being protected from damage AND chipping away at foes AND goes through blocks which again... great for newbies reaching elysium. slap some poseidon boons and you can see numbers in 600 vs trash and about 200-300 on bosses because of knockback immunity on them without taking any risks. compare that to twin fist where you need to bob and weave, someone who just began will die way more often

The black trapdoor looking thing at 6:57 brings you to someone called chaos. He basically gives you strong boons that don't activate for a few rooms. They all have some sort of drawback like "For the next 4 encounters take +300% damage from traps, afterward your special does +50%"

I just wish the videos were longer! Best part of my day. Lol

Great video once again. I almost forgot how hadeses early game looks like as I have been playing it since the early access launch. Make sure you upgrade the character and the Dungeon as you can unlock more healing as well as money chances. You should also prioritize giving the Shop Clerk and Skelly Nectar as well as switching your keepsake between the substages.

@@jjaapp18 You can't really decide that based on hours but more on the amount of runs for some people 50 runs take 100 hours for others it's 30 hours

Glad you are playing this game. It is probably my favorite roguelike.

Man Df you are really only scratching the surface of this wonderful game.

Really happy your playing Hades so I offer a tip, nectar doesn't affect boon rarity, the difficulty of the encounter and certain mirror upgrades do, the nectar improves your relationship with that particular god which is for story stuff

This edit was refined DF, who ever did it, good job.

A couple of recommendations buy the second dash in the mirror, it cost like 50 darkness and I way easier to dodge. Also the 2 best keepsakes for beginners are the one that gives you skelly and cerberus

I would love to watch you keep playing this. I think you'll love the gun when you unlock it.

I love when DF is like "I'm doing really well in the first 5% of the game." and he doesn't even realize it.

@@ladigoos8835 Well, there's so much more left to the game than what DF has explored. He hasn't upgraded weapons, or explored the heats yet. He did a similar thing with The Binding of Isaac where he's not completed any of the "secret" bosses, let alone come close to unlocking all of the items or characters or mechanics. I just find it funny when there's a game that required multiple plays in order to even get to all of what it offers and DF thinks the starting-powerful build is strong. :) I'm not saying he's wrong, just that he doesn't realize exactly what the barrier is for power (or game mechanics is) until he invests Super Life kinda time into a few of these games. :P Hades included. Roguelikes typically require many multiple play-throughs to experience the entirety of what is capable. Spelunky (and now Spelunky 2! Woo!) are good additional examples. ^_^

So took me watching you for 7 months to finally hit the subscribe button. I see you all the time in recommending never dawned on me to hit subscribe. Thanks for amazing videos to watch

DF I know the buffs from the mirror are pretty nice but unlocking other weapons will help you a lot if you don't want to get close to enemies. I personally really like the bow cos you can wind it up for higher dmg, and with keepsakes and boons that +dmg when striking distant foes or when you don't get hit, you can 1 shot enemies across the room. With certain boons it is basically a machine gun that doesn't require timing or aiming. Many people like the shield too you might want to have a try

I was waiting for you to play Hades. Took you a while. I died once to the Hydra, the first time. Don't worry, soon it will be piss easy for you too. I got up to Hades (2nd phase) in my last run.

God I love this game. The learning curve is kind of steep but once you get into the hang of things it has a great flow until you hit the next wall.

df, the thing that was gonna take health from you is a chaos portal. it gives you a new boon that disadvantages you for a few rooms, then gives you a really strong buff.

Watching DF play remind me of my first run in hades.. the difference is I die to mag in my first 10 run

with a sword you can actually just hit the projectiles and they disappear, or even deflect if you have the right boon!

just for the record, gifting to gods doesn't upgrade any boons, it just unlocks more trinkets and stuff, and sexy sexy voice dialogue and story, which is the real prize tbh

You should consider investing into Athena's boons in the early stages. Her boons allow you to deflect projectiles and even sometimes damage back at enemies. I find it especially powerful if my dash has block, but it also works well as on the main attack.

Give Skelly a nectar, he gives you more lives. Giving the gods the nectar doesn't actually upgrade them, it just progresses the storyline. The first time you give them a nectar they give you a gift, but that's it

I came to realize that DF's favorite words are *guns* and *Damage*

The jars in that boss fight contains food, don't be afraid to break stuff!

talk to Nyx. she'lll upgrade your mirror so you can respec and switch between upgrades of the same tier .like say instead of multiple death defy, you'll only get one but it recharges each room, stuff like that. talking to people between runs and giving gifts can net you a lot of upgrades. any time you see a exclamation point, talk, it eventually leads to upgrades.

Ah, 13 minutes and 15 seconds of bliss.
