Today, I bought my ultimate, money-no-object dream car, a 2009 Aston Martin DBS, with a very rare manual transmission, and it just so happens to be the exact spec that James Bond drives. But what did it cost me? EVERYTHING.

I've driven the auto version - its amazing even though I was terrified to start off with - made a mistake and went over a hump back bridge at 60mph - all four wheels left the ground and it landed so gently I only knew from the whoosh of relief from the owner sitting next to me :-)

The moment I became a car guy was when I was about 10 years old, and my neighbor had rented a stall in her garage for winter storage of a DB-5. When spring came, I was out in the back yard when the owner started it up. The music from that engine was like nothing I had ever heard. I poked my head over the fence to see and hear James Bond's car.

Good for you Tavarish! Use it everyday. I used to have sport bikes when I was younger and there was that group of buyers that only wanted the newest thing and acted like after 3500 miles a sport bike was toast. I’d snatch them up cheap and put 25k on without issue or concern. The same type that buy expensive cars and don’t use them for their intended purpose and then discard because they can’t be seen driving anything that old. That beautiful DBs is just broken in at 30k miles and needs to run! You are the furthest thing from a poser and I love that you simply like what you like without apology. Keep it up, well wishes and happy holidays to you and yours. Cheers!

I'm not sure why we haven't seen a video on the Lexus LC500 but I'd be willing to bet that once you reviewed one of these you'd change your tune about Aston Martin. Fortunately you're a very skilled mechanic so when the Aston needs repair, you can do it. The Lexus however is not at all like the A.M. It is reliable and will cost much less to maintain than your DBS. I follow your channel and would love to see what you think of the LC500. I own a 2018 and love it. I'm also a 50 year, second owner of a 1969 L71 Corvette 427/435 and that car has been my daily driver all these years. It looks brand new and I'm fortunate enough at almost 74 where I can still drive a four speed. The two cars are as different as night and day. Keep up the great work Freddie. Love your channel.

I'm completely with you on the whole liking a car with some mileage. Cars are machines, they're built to be used, not to sit and be statues or static show pieces. There's nothing worse than a car that's been used so little it doesn't work properly. A car that's been used but well loved will always feel enthusiastic. I've got a 30 year old sports bike that starts beautifully every time because it's lived exactly the kind of life you describe for your Aston and I love it that bit more because it feels like it wants to get out, see the road and be used (And shout at other vehicles).

But when they ask me, i tell them that my dream car is simply a BMW M3 e92 manual. Its just something i love about that car. Its not the fastest and not the slowest by any means, but i just love the looks of it

Massive bond fan here... and i gotta say, imo, the Vanquish (second gen) is the best GT car in the world. Its a bit bigger, and with the gorgeous lines, integrated spoiler made of CF, and the awesome ZF 7 speed transmission, it will always be my favorite. But the DBS is definitely a damn close second.

That's a myth its not welded together or soldered together, its based of 2 Ford Duratec V6 engines but it was designed and re engineered by Cosworth who are the Co owners of the Ford Duratec v6, it was done properly with a huge new block, along with many other improvements 😂 www.exoticcarhacks.com/car-reviews/aston-martin-db9-dbs-buyers-guide/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Duratec_V6_engine

I don't get the excitement over manual cars. I see the same excitement when I've watched DDE video's who constantly talk about their "rare gated manual" I suppose as i'm in the UK it's because manual cars here are pretty much the norm over automatics.

  • @kwbalance108

That's the thing. Lots of vehicles in North America are sans clutch pedal. Only 1 of the 4 cars I've owned were automatic (first one...intended to do an auto->manual swap) and I'm the only car within several blocks that have a manual. Depending on what State you're in, there are most certainly not common.

Damn! Well done achieving your dream car 💪🏼 Regarding the bond spec..... I met Garry Powell (the stunt man who rolled the car) He explained it took a lot of effort, as it was so stable and they destroyed several cars to get that shot. They needed to load 150kg in the sill, then fire a canister / jack under the other side. Also, it was his partner Vicki laying tied up in the road, as she was stunt double to true stars and martial arts competitor. Keep it up and I’ll keep watching 🤓

Don't Panic! I have the DVD....haven’t seen it in a while...and in the extras, there is a segment where they describe in detail, what you are saying. They really tried hard to roll this car, but couldn’t. They tried all kinds of stuff. Finally, like you said, they installed jacks, like the kind that raise F1 cars for tire changes, and using compressed air, they were able to pull off the stunt! Amazing!!!
