I go to Swallowtail every year when I go back to Japan. Last year I didn't have anyone to go with, so ended up going myself...and embarrassed myself by trying to pour my own tea. The butler was like, "my lady, you mustn't pour it yourself, I am here to do that on your behalf". But I was so bored and forgot that you can't use your phone in there!

I've been to this place (Swallowtail) 5 years ago. It's quite well-known among otome fans. To be honest, I'm not used to this kind of super elegant high tea, so it was the most nerve-wracking dining experience I've ever had lol. They literally do everything for you: pour tea, put the sandwich/biscuit on your plate, place the table cloth on your lap. And when you go to the washroom, they carry your bag for you until you get to the door of the washroom AND when you come out of the washroom, your butler is there waiting for you. You give your bag to him and he will escort you back to your seat. My friend was a regular customer and she had like a card that they stamp on each visit. On her birthday, she gets a handwritten letter from one of the butlers. They're very polite but distant unlike host clubs where the guys are all over you.

@@creamsicleorange8266 idk about butlers, but as a regular servant, waiter or however you want to call it, you dont want to hold a tray on a flat palm, trust me. every trainer, manager or senior waiter will teach you to open up your hand a little bit~so i kinda looks like you are holding it on the tip of your 1st three fingers while the other two fingers are kinda clenched, but not too tight. that goes for fine dining also, same rule. and you are actually more maneuverable with the tray itself that way. but as i said, i dont really know is it same for butlers, its just that this way is actually safer as far as dropping things on your guests are concerned. so maybe Mel was trying to say that. Source: Myself, working at HRC for 2 years now.

I love how you can tell Lori's having fun too when he jokes around like, "Be Careful, try not to cut off my head."

It’s different to how European butlers act. For example in the bowing they would have some sort of hand gesture as well rather than a Japanese bow where they keep their hands to their sides. Although not many British people have the proper training in how to bow and curtesy now. (edit to correct poor spelling of original post)

Of course not. Go to be treated like a princess. *was taught by them* they didnt teach him how to balance the five dishes on his arm. (Probably didnt trust him. Lol) they go through a school for it. When turning their is a certain angle your feet have to be at to make it look fluid. At one point when showing us how to move one of those food trolling things one of the wheels fell off. (Our equipment not theirs) He just kept it balance and glided across the room with it missing that's when I was like "damn, out of my league." Haha

Mr.Lori was so kind and patient. His soothing demeanor and the calm atmosphere has easily gained the cafe a permanent spot on my bucket list.

Such a professional, really brings out the art in what he does.

I've been here twice in my life, and I don't know what surprised me more: the fact that they let you work/ trained you or the fact that you got permission to film here. Cause ohhhh my god this place is lovely, but the no cameras rule breaks my millennial heart. Love seeing it again, though. 😍

I went to this butler cafe two years ago, it was an amazing experience and be treated like a princess for real lol . However, You have to ring the bell to get escorted to the toilet or the butlers to pour your tea, EVERY SINGLE TIME ( there was this dude who actually looked like Sebastian and I nearly fainted seeing him 🤣)

When you voice one hell of a butler but your actual butler skills are trash.
