I INSTALLED A NEW BMW AIRHEAD CLUTCH

After undergoing a complete engine rebuild, this 51-year-old BMW airhead truly deserves a fresh clutch assembly.
Upon inspecting the worn components, it's evident that a replacement was necessary, as the old clutch was 2mm below the factory specifications.
The deficiency could lead to clutch slippage and excessive heat in the clutch area, issues I'd prefer to avoid in the near future.
To address this, I've acquired a new BMW clutch kit assembly from EME, which serves as an upgrade from the original parts. The kit includes four essential parts: the Clutch Plate, Clutch Ring (Cover Plate), Pressure Plate, and Clutch Diaphragm Spring. All these elements will be fastened to the flywheel using six new Allen head bolts.
With these improvements, I anticipate that the clutch assembly will hold up for another lifetime!

Glad to see you greased the diaphragm spring, I feel like that part is often overlooked. I went through all this on my '85 k100rs 6 or 7 years ago. I love the dry clutch setups on these older BMWs, so simple.

I’m glad you acknowledged this step! It’s definitely something you want to do, in order to have a smooth clutch. You really know the ins and outs already and even on the K-bikes, that’s awesome👏🏽 Installing a dry clutch is really not that hard, if you’ve done it before. Maybe you didn‘t have the special tools (long bolts with nuts), and this would really make the assembly hard. If you got everything together without specialty tools , than you‘re awesome! 😎

Hopefully you don‘t have to work on your clutch anytime soon, but this is a good idea for any future projects😉 You can never have enough haha
