Seems reminiscent of The Dunwich Horror. Reminds me somehow of something my grandpa told me about once. I'm not sure if HE broke into this old manor-type house too, or just a friend of his had, but anyway... There was a well-off couple in a very large house. They had servants and caretakers and about 5 kids. Something happened to the wife and she started to be seen less and less. Years passed, and she had become quite reclusive and strange. Her husband died in his 60s, the children were off and married with children of their own, and it was just her and the staff. One day, there was a big hullibaloo at the house, and she was taken away and confined to an asylum for the rest of her life. The house sat empty for years, but was the subject of much chatter amongst the regular people. A lot of speculation for why she had been confined. I think he was maybe 12 or 13 when this happened. The house was starting to break down, and went up for auction. He and his friend broke into the house right before it was torn down, trying to find out why the woman had been sent away. The place had like 5 floors, so I'm assuming it took a few days at least to explore. He had to stay home for something, so his friend went alone. Some doors had been walled over, and were only apparent because they had started to break down and sag on their hinges. Finally, in this weird little subcellar-type space dug into the floor of the basement, his friend found it: a tomb of sorts. After those 5 babies, she was never able to carry another child to term. Miscarriages and stillbirths totaling something like 17. And she had carefully preserved each of them, and hidden them away in this space beneath the manor. There were notes in a little journal, describing the name and sex of each baby, the point in the pregnancy they'd been lost, and hints of the brokenness she felt at each loss, all in a fine, spiderweb handwriting that appeared shaky at times. The space was found decades after the last baby was placed inside, but not understanding postpartum depression, or depression in general, she was deemed mad and put away. Her testament of grief and despair was covered up, and the babies were forgotten. Horrified, his friend ran home with the journal and told his parents what he had found. He got quite the whipping, but his dad gave him a pocketknife a few days later, as acknowledgement of having seen something horrifying. My grandpa didn't know what happened to the remains, or if his friend kept the journal, and he never got the chance to ask his friend anything more because they had to pack up and move again, as they often did when he was growing up. It bothered my grandpa endlessly that those babies might still be there, forgotten beneath the moldering floorboards...

Holy crap. You basically wrote another book 😅.
Currently 25 minutes in and hooked. If hubby doesn't hurry up he will miss part if the story as I'm dying to continue. One of the reasons I don't like listening while working, having to pause for pick up and drop offs

Gives me this Darkest Dungeon vibe. You know, without sending an endless supply of recruits to die horrible deaths to its eldritch dangers.
Channels like this get me through a big portion of my solo night shifts looking after a hotel, and I only just found yours, so I've got lots of new ones to listen to. Nice one!

Thank you so much! I agree it was a very well written story by Rene Rehn
I have to say....this story REALLY stands out in and of itself. There's an AMAZING level of knowledge of history in it context.... admittedly a few lost on me, necessitating a Google or 2 on my part. Id say this is, perhaps arguably, a seriously NEXT LEVEL piece of authorship! INARGUABLY, very impressive! BRAVA! 👏
I knew it was Rene Rhen the moment this demi-grammar enthussss gets a good ole forgotten word, not heard since advanced lit classes in college, right off the bat!! And yeah.,.thats....umm.....its been a minute.😬

Oh shit. How ironic! I referred to myself as a "grammar enthussss," obviously not proofing myself. Ha! I did something that grates my grammar nerves to no end; I STUTTERED!!! No... Im not picking on anyone with an impediment. I'm referring to....say, writing YAAAAAY" for emphasis, but spelling it "YAYYYYYY" instead. Yep. Ironic emphasis stutter! Wrong elongation. Nice yvette!😵💫
Very Lovecraftian. Love it.
Wow! And there I was at the start of the story being jealous of the amazing family history and getting to live in a castle 😆
Now I'll listen from the beginning 😁
Juhuuu can't wait ❤ I need a good story and I know it will be good 😉 Greetings from German
Ooooo. WHAT is in the cellar? 😬😬😬😬

The guy he finds to tell him about Isaac, must’ve been Nicolas Cage!

I can't explain the lack of notifications, sorry. I always turn them on for new videos so theoretically everyone with notifications on should get them. Maybe it's the fact that it's a premiere is screwing things up

Very cosmic. So horror. ❤
What eternal mission? Eternal recursion?
My children are "Whitmores" ........
Worlds dumbest protagonist.
This story needs a narrator with a posh British accent. The young Midwestern American kind of takes me out of the story, which is good. The narrator sounds like the old radio ads from Motel Six ( Tom Bodett character).
