I Heard The Bluebirds Sing
I met a girl out in the hills
Who gave my lonely heart a thrill
Her beauty seemed just like a breath of spring
And when I looked into her eyes
I thought of blue mid summer skies
And when I held her hand in mine
I heard the bluebirds sing
They sang of wondering (Wondering if he love her)
Will she marry? (Marry if he'll ask her)
Will her heart beat? (Heart beat true for him or for)
Them and ever more
And when she's lonely (Lonely is he near her?)
When there's sadness (Sadness will he cheer her?)
Will they always? (Always be together)
Until in death they part
I courted her for months on end
Until she promised we would wed
We planned on being married in the spring
All through the long cold winter months
It seemed that spring would never come
And every gloomy winter day
I heard the bluebirds sing
They sang of waiting (Waiting for the flowers)
And of counting (Counting every hour)
'Til the bluebird (Bluebird chirps his welcome)
Into the world once more
And while we're waiting (Waiting for the sunshine)
We keep hating (Hating every storm cloud)
That has gathered (Gathered o'er the mountains)
To keep us far apart
And when at last spring touched the earth
We were married in our village church
Our wedding seemed just like a dream come true
So many years have come and gone
Our love is still as true and strong
As when I found her long ago
And still the bluebirds sing
They sing of loving (Loving every hour)
That I'm married (Married to my flower)
And we're happy (Happy ever after)
As since the day we met
And though we're older (Older love is sweeter)
We grow fonder (Fonder of each other)
We'll be sweethearts (Sweethearts close together)
Until the end of time

Sadly those days are gone .. today they want to be either a footballer or an internet celebrity or a porn star or TV celebrity with tattoos, body piercing, puffed up lips enhanced breasts and a year round tan. Quite sad really !!! Those days are gone forever..,welcome to the world of woke, confusion, gender reassessment and simpering snowflakes and mincing wannabes😂😂

I enjoy getting together and playing and singing music. There’s about 20 young people from church that play and sing and we get together one night a week and play and practice….. it’s just awesome.

Lovely version of Hod Pharis's song written here where he wrote it in Calgary. I was introduced to him once at a radio station. He was a policeman and then a DJ. This is a classic song and the kids do a far better job of it than some of the others who've tried it. See KZread. Thanks for this, especially Bethany. I play it each night.

A fine group of Young People who take their music seriously kicking out a fine tune. Blue Grass is the early sound that by time produced the early Western Music. It is enjoyable to hear some of the the early Bluegrass sound and know it is alive and well.

Bluegrass is a blending of Appalachian music (which is old Scottish Irish Celtic Music) and old African slave spiritual music. The banjo was a creation of the American slaves, they brought with them the idea of their old guard tribal drums and to create a stringed instrument like the Europeans living here they added a neck and strings to the guard drum. This over time merged into what we now know as Bluegrass. And Bill Manroe helped popularize it. It is a form of folkish blues music. Many Bluegrass songs are about down on your luck, hard times, and struggles of life, death etc. Yet, there are traditional gems like this one. Pure Americana

Reminds me of my childhood. Not my family but there were quite a few folks here that did the family sing-alongs.

What a marvel, that can only come from a pure source, not tainted by America, by persevering against its influence, forging the heart, faith and tradition
