I have been having a BLAST fishing all sizes of the TUSH hooks and the Hover Baits-this bait has totally changed my Swim Bait Success and interest in trying different size baits - It is much more exciting fishing this technique than standard Swim Bait Jig Heads - it is so versatile in how many different style baits can be worked. Y’all have truly added a lot of creativity and interest in my fishing day-Thank You for your excellent teaching videos

I just got my TUSH hooks a few days ago and I have been fishing them like crazy all week. I was also noticing that my "normal" swimbait setup ( 7' medium heavy on a spinner with 12 lb fluoro) was causing me to lose fish. I went to my crankbait rod setup (7' 3" medium heavy with 17 lb fluoro) and haven't lost a fish since. Super heavily pressured waters and not getting bites on anything else but hover rigs and TUSH hooks. So...yeah.

I do the same thing and found having a pretty stout rod helps a ton to get the tail moving, I use it with paddletails instead of straight tails. Having it bounce really helps you keep it slow moving and steady at a depth, without it swinging back at you. A bigger profile bait (why I use paddletails) catches the water better and really slows it down. Jerking the rod also keeps the tail moving. I thought this was pretty common!

This new lure is something I’ve been using for a couple years by Hogfarmer called The Spunk Shad it’s literally the same thing Edit - Missile Baits partnered with Hogfarmer to make more Spunk Shads.. guess Wheeler loved it and made his team make one but I’d bet good money he’s been fishing these too

I don't know that its necessarily that new of a technique. Charlie Brewer used a similar technique to fish suspended bass in open water with his original Slider head and the 4 inch Slider worm. But he doesn't give any additional action to the lure. His theory was that our own nervous system prevents us from holding the rod perfectly steady and that the subtle vibrations are more natural than actively shaking the rod. But he would cast, count down to the depth, and then reel it back on a "steady" retrieve. He called it the Do Nothin' Method.

Matt did a TUSH intro before his Potomac tourney and at that time TW didn't have them advertised. Passed that info info on to Matt and checked again today during this video and they are indeed listed. I order two packs of 3/16 earlier off the CT site and received notification they're on their way. Hoping they'll arrive by the time I leave for my July 4th trip. BTW, I'd been kidding Matt about when the caps were going to be available and also ordered one with the 3/16's which I'll proudly wear. You and Matt are on to something. You and Matt also put out some great videos with clear info and useful tips. Keep up the great work!

I can’t wait for the CT jigs to arrive 🎉 I have fished ballhead jigs since the early 80’s on Kentucky and Cumberland lakes, and I used to pour my own with my brother and use 3” curly tail grubs when you could buy them for about 25 cents a piece😂😂😂😂 I think Core Tackle is going to be huge, and I wish you and Matt the greatest success 💯👍👍👍

I ordered the TUSH about 3 days ago and I can't wait to get out there on lake. The Hover Rig from Core Tackle is actually the only "lure" setup that can out-fish the Shaky head (when the fish are on the bottom rocks). And I didn't think that was possible!!! For the longest time, the Shaky head was the go-to lure, until the Hover Rig!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing the videos!

This is called the midst, rolling, or Biwa rig. It has been popular in Japan for a long time. They tend to use much lighter jig heads small twitches and a constant retrieve to get the bait to roll from side to side. It is a variation of the technique known as hoverstrolling which is any other Japanese technique that Milliken has been using which he calls the hover juggle.

I used to live 5min from Pool 7. I plan to make more river videos this summer. The Ozark pool is about 1.5 hours from me now so it’s not as easy to get there, but I love fishing the river.

Why are we acting like Wheeler is the first person to ever "hang a minnow" Guys have been doing this in the north for decades.

I’m curious on what you think is the most important aspect to this technique? Could this have worked with a keitech on a jig head if you did everything else the same? Is it the straight tail swimbait, the shaky retrieve, or what? Got my order of hover and TUSH and excited to try them out!

I haven’t experimented with this technique enough to really know what baits will and won’t work with it. Jacob was using a smaller bait on a jig head so a Keitech may have also worked.

Great video as always! Very informative! What are your thoughts on using this technique in a non-shad, very clear lake?

Been doing it in East TN for decades. We call it tightlining. And it won't be working for much longer 😅

Maybe I’m missing something here… What’s the difference between fishing a fluke or Gambler EZ swim in this same manner with a standard weighted swim bait hook, or even a swim bait hook with a weighted head? How is this different? Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to see you having a great day on the water…I just don’t see the the difference between this and a similar swimbait/fluke with a weighted hook. I think I’d rather see a tutorial about how the electronics are used, and how these guys find these schools of fish, than another bait. One thing I no for certain….It doesn’t matter what bait you throw if the fish aren’t there. I did pickup a few of these hooks, to show support, though. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Jonny - I have sent a message using both FTM email addresses and messenger around the June 24th time frame. I image you are very busy and wanted to know when you might answer the question I sent concerning your sonar settings guides that are available for purchase. I didn't want to purchase one until I know it is what I need. I have Solix units, and only guides for Helix are available. The question was, can settings for Helix work just as well for Solix. Thanks.

I just got some in the other day. The 2/0 3/16oz TUSH works perfect in it. I've actually caught several on that combo already.
