DD is such a star getting you round in that horrific weather. Poor Jammy tried so hard - looks like a hind just skidded as she was going to take off and stole all her forward momentum but she made such an effort. You two will be better than ever next season I'm sure - so scary but you are both safe thankfully!

I couldn’t detect her hind slipping, to me it seemed she just got her timing off by a little, too far away first but then by the next stride she realised she was on the jump, made an attempt to lift over it but the top front side of her front legs skimmed up the jump but she just couldn’t lift over it which then caused her hind to come over the top. It’s been many years since my 2&3 DE days so I’m definitely not on point with things. Just trying to jog my memory of things again as my sister is training for her very first ODE and has asked me to review some of her training videos for assistance with it. I hope I’m not blind and it’s not too late.

@@GlitterGlamGal Yes exactly that. It was just too close. These things happens thats the danger of jumping especially eventing. I'm really not a scared rider..but eventing is pretty brutal(since the jumps are mostly stiff and won't fall)

She was a bit to close during take off and tgrew herself off balance completely trying to eat her hind end , she acty did an amazing job at correcting herself , I can't see if she slipped at take off though she just looked a stride to close 💗 what a gem though for trying so hard to correct herself

I hope you are feeling better after that hard tumble Meg!! At least Jam had already qualified for Badminton 2023 before this happened!! I hope Jam was alright as well. As a Retired Paramedic, falls were the scariest things for us to deal with at all the horse shows we covered. Especially if they had a 2 or 3 day event going on. Ride Safe Everyone!! Wear your Protective Vests and HELMETS!! Best Regards from a Retired Paramedic, a S&R Dog and Handler Team Trainer and Horse Trainer in Ontario, Canada, Jenn. 💖🇨🇦🇬🇧

@@AtLast796 No, if you read the first part of my post, I did say I was glad that both were alright. Read what's there before criticizing the rest of the statement. And I am grateful that she DIDN'T NEED this show to qualify for Badminton, as she had already qualified both horses. Read the statement again please before jumping down someone's throat like this. It wasnt appreciated. Especially since I was a Paramedic for 37 years and covered a lot of horse shows in the Nation's Capital of Canada, Ottawa, where there is a major show every August that top riders come to every year. And there was 2 and 3 day Eventing there. We dreaded covering these shows, just in case of serious falls like this or worse. So I do know what I'm talking about on the other front as well, as a Former FEI Level Coach and Judge, now Retired, but I still teach riding to young people. Hence the statement, Ride Safe and Wear your HELMETS and Vests! Have a good weekend. Jenn.

Glad you're both safe! And that Hobbs made it out of the horse box! lol Your team was sensational. Hannah absolutely killed it! Especially considering the nasty weather. Regarding the fall, it was so brave of you to put that up. It's my worst fear going XC. I think she just wasn't comfortable with the footing and wanted to get another stride in but simply didn't have the space. I really hope your vest absorbed her foot falls. It looked like she may have stepped on you. Sending all the best vibes your way. At one point in the video, Hobbit mentions how nervous she was during the first run. Really hope she wasn't too distraught over the fall. Would love to hear her view point, as a mom, on how it feels to hear the announcement (or however she found out) and whether it is a confidence knock to her as well as you. OKay, this is long enough. I'll be back for the next Pete's Eats ft Hungry Hann.

Oh Meg, I'm so sorry to hear about that fall. I hope you and Jam are doing okay. My heart dropped when I saw the rain pick up again during DD's run. The ground was very much still really saturated from the day before. I know you eventing horse&riders are tough but that ground looked as mean as the rain you had when you made your way up there. Bless the three of your hearts and those of Hobbit and Pete too ofcourse. That was one scary fall. Jam seemed to really try her hardest to tip toe around you. You can just see her panic in her face, bless her. I really hope the two of you are okay! On a positive note: You and DD looked absolutely amazing she has such a fun personality. You and Jam were lovely in the earlier phases too. She has such a beautiful form and scope. Such a bummer she lost her footing like that, she really tried to fix it with that extra step too, sweet girl. Unfortunately it didn't work out. I have so much respect for you and your ponies facing such challenging jumps in that weather.

Well done for getting back on and competing the next day - that takes guts. Try not to let this fall knock your confidence; it’s a dangerous sport, you’ve got an honest, brave horse, you’re a very capable rider, and those were incredibly slippery conditions. Having had some awful busters myself, it can shake you up. Make sure you speak with a Sports Psychologist about it early so you have the best chance to deal with anything that may subconsciously affect you before it becomes an issue in the long run. I hope your bruising is easing (Jam’s too, poor girl), and you have a steady supply of muscle soak at your disposal.

Well done Meg, Dee and Jammy!! A massive congratulations! Cannot believe how well those horses travelled on that horrific ground. You rode amazingly and that fall just looked so jarring. Well done for getting back in that saddle! Hope you and jam are more than OK and beyond proud of yourselves! Amazing to see your team support there too. So looking forward to seeing part 3! 💖💪

Thank goodness you both were able to walk away from that fall! I hope you heal up quickly as it looks like you caught a couple of hooves as Jam righted herself while you were under her. Feel for Hobbs as well- that would have been scary seeing or hearing your daughter took a nasty fall like that.

So happy you’re both okay, that looked horrible. Sending you both lost of love! With that said, I couldn’t stop smiling about the man standing beside the car when you fell off. He panicked so hard while having his coffee in hand, and frantically started looking for places to put it down on, bless him.

Oh no that's the type of fall none of us want. I knew it was coming but didn't expect a fall like that. Bless, I hope you both are doing better now and you weren't hurt too bad and can't wait to see you both out killing the xc course again. That looks like an insanely tricky course on top of those horrible weather conditions. Just know you're an amazing rider and it could have happened to anyone. Sending lots of love❤️

Omg, i thought i was prepared to see that, but i totally was not. My heart is in my throat and i just burst out in tears for you and Jam! I am a paramedic and we always deal with the aftermath usually, but seeing the fall is absolutely sickening and i am so so glad that you are both ok and walked away from this. You are an inspiration to anyone and i cant wait to watch the next installment to see you overcome and get rewarded for all your hard work. Be gentle with yourself and let your body and mind heal xxxx

Megs, I'm absolutely bawling my eyes out after just finished watching. While I know you are physically ok, that fall looked horrific and I cannot help being very emotional after seeing it. As horsewomen, I'm sure most of us have had our share of bad falls, but it doesn't get easier to see our experience. So much love to you! You are an absolute legend! ❤️

Amazingly jam really stayed up. You however seemed to get tangled in her feet. What a cliffhanger to leave us on ?! Have to say most of us have been there if we’ve ridden solid fences. Those catapult moments are just awful. I’m glad you were able to continue with DD. And I’m sure jam will have learned yet more about her work.

  • @egeegee7146

From what I can see she went to pat the ground for a slightly shorter stride but slid due to the going and thus ended up not able to lift in time ending up catapulting. Genuine genuine pony just caught out by the conditions underfoot. If I am honest she seemed to be a bit flatter over the steeple chase and maybe the ground doesn't suit her? Or she hasn't had chance to understand conditions like that. And will give fences a little bit more room in future. Must say that happened to my mare. My goodness she never rattled a fence again!
