I have breast cancer

On December 21, 2021, I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer after months of appointments, biopsies, and misinformation. Today I am sharing my story in the hopes that I may help that one person out there who is navigating a challenging time and feels alone.
The online world comes with many beautiful perks but the constant highlight reels of Instagram and social media can often make us feel isolated. Like we're not doing enough. Like we don't have enough. That we aren't enough. And while I love sharing the amazing places we've traveled and never miss a chance to capture a sunset I want my voice here to be more impactful. We are all enough. We are everything we could ever need. We can find beauty in the midst of turmoil, despair, and chaos. And I want to learn how to do this with all of you.
Thank you for making this a safe space for me to share such news in an open conversation, with no filters. We love you. We will get through this and look forward to the many teachings and blessings we will discover throughout this journey xx

Thank you for the lovely comments. It has been a shock and a living nightmare. Ali went out to the gym and didn’t come home. She was hit by a stolen car and died instantly. She leaves her daughter, who is 10, and countless friends and family devastated but with wonderful and happy memories. She was a wonderful woman. Why do I share this? For the very reason that has been said. The Unimaginable can happen. One of Alison’s and my last conversations on the day she died was Alison telling me she would like to go on more adventures. Fortunately for us, we have been on many in the past. Eamon and Bec live their lives to the full and take their opportunities to experience life, and I dearly hope with all my heart that they will for years and years to come. It’s a lesson to us all. Money and possessions are only tools, not the target. Are you sitting on an opportunity to experience right now? Take this invitation. All the best, from Rob x

It’s a grueling journey, but I’m confident you’ll conquer this! Something I would recommend asking your doctor is if you can start doing fluids/pepcid/steroids iv combo on the week in between your chemos. That helped SO much with my energy and stomach issues! Unfortunately I didn’t start those until month 4 of my treatments and I think it would have been so helpful to have started from the beginning.

My 10 year old daughter and I have been watching your channel since the start of the pandemic. (Every time she sees a white van, she says "Look Daddy - that might be Eamon & Bec or Kara & Nate!") You guys are special to us because your show has created a nice father/daughter bonding time every Sunday night. Know that we are both sending you thoughts of positive energy and healing. We love ya both... be well!

Your positive attitude is half the battle…. You’ve got this!! I’ve had cancer 5 times (have a wonky gene)… surgeries, chemo, radiation and yes, I did fertility treatments too with the first one when I was 33…. Once treatments were done and I was given the all clear by my oncologist, first month off the pill and we got pregnant on our own. Even though I don’t wish this journey on anyone, keep the faith, positive attitude and find humour wherever you can. Grab your lip gloss, big girl panties and a ball cap and go give ‘em hell…. Sending you both my love and strength. Xo

As an empath this has hit me so hard. I’ve never met you Bec, but I’ve watched and been a subscriber for a very long time. Another person has said this, but I feel like I’ve gotten to know you like a friend. I was bawling the entire time and my heart feels very heavy. Can’t wait to be supportive and stay with you every step of the way 💕. Also, can’t wait for fertility treatment content.

I had a stage 4 hodgkin lymphoma when i was 21, i’m turning 30 this year and if i can just give you a piece of advice: don't neglect the psychological side. I forced my self to be strong through the whole process of hospitalization, chemio, hair loss and all to end up with PTSD and I’m fighting with it until now. Wish you all the best and good luck on your journey ❤️

So true. I was diagnosed in January 2022 two months after losing my sister to this terrible disease 😥 Family/friends keep commenting on “staying strong”. Or - “What a strong woman you are”. I’m not strong, nor do I want to have to keep up a facade of being strong. I simply have no choice but to go through surgery and treatment if I want to increase my chances of survival. I’ve joined a large group of women going through BC - this has helped immensely as we all have a true understanding of how this journey feels ♥️
