He probably wanted to keep the show going because he could just dump the remaining life with Ogre and kill both Ayli and Lynch, then probably take out Larry on the next turn. Pulled the same move with my own Greven deck many times, it's a blast to watch it happen but wouldn't really make for a great episode I guess.

Kyles life gain was astounding. Larry is actually a G. Aily got her tainted victory and Lynch was also there.

The one time Larry felt sorry for Ayli and left her alive made him dead... I hope next time Larry doesnt show mercy and just wins P.S. idk why i just love seeing Larry play, I guess he gives the cool Dad vibe.

That was an amazing game, and the whole... Larry saving Ayli was an unexpected twist in the "story" of the match that made it so much better. Betrayed and hurt... but maybe felt she had a better chance at taking down the threat that was Kyle more then he himself did... or you know, just did it to screw with people... hard to tell with him... fantastic all around though.

What a nail-biter of a game! Always love to see Ayli and Larry at the table.

So glad to see my personal favorite commander hit the table love mono black BURN

The fact that everyone made the game drag out with such low life totals is hilarious

The Larry/Ayli arc is my favorite storyline in Magic I lol’d at the second Nexus of Fate. Amazing win here.

She also would draw a card on end step without discard phase. Shes not ignorant to the rules just willingly not abiding by them

Plane chase would make my play group take 3 hours for one game easily

At the end of the game when Lynch dies Ayli shouldn't have gotten Chun-Li back it should have gone to Exile/Command Zone because Lynch controlled it when he died. In the end it seems like it wouldn't have mattered as long as Ayli only kicked Chun-Li a max of 2 times because she still had 7 mana left before she went to her extra turn.

Great episode. It was very exciting. This make me think of the saying: "The only point of life it matters is the last one". 😅

There is a little hint Stars scream you can tuck yourself if you want to cuz it says opponents examine yourself for other people

3:07 i cant think of a better creature for a hug theme than a giant snake. Snakes are literally *made* to hug you to death.

Commander damage only applies to combat damage, not spells/sorceries. Even though the commander deals damage to everything, it wasn't combat damage. That's the only way to apply commander damage

amazing comeback!!! after he pulled that move gaining that much life I didn't want him to win lol life gain is the thing I hate most to play against that's why commander damage is great, thanks WG lol

OUT OF CURIOSITY AND NOT YELLING JUST TRYING TO GET YOUR ATTENION. lol at 22.47min when Kyle used Chandra's Ignition: why didn't he win? Chandras's Ignition says the creature deals damage to each creature and player equal to his power. Since it's the creature doing the damage and it's his commander doing the damage it's 26 commander damage to each player....? No?

Ayli would not have gotten chun li back at the end just by killing lynch she wouldve had to recast. Since it was exchanged with gilded drake and not controlled via an enchantment, once Lynch left the game all things he owned AND controlled would be exiled.

I like when Larry invoked Lil' Jon. We are nothing without Larry!

22:20 Kyle loses 1 life from tapping the Cabal Pit to cast Greven. Greven counts all life you've lost that turn, which includes life lost before he entered the battlefield. Greven should have had an additional +1/+0.

Didnt the guest win when he played the chandra's ignition. Due to it stating that the creature deals the damage as a result of the spell. But beacuse the creature that was doing the dmg was the commander. He should have won?

Kinda bugged me that lynch didn’t plane chase at all, his deck is built on cheating costs, other than that I loved the episode! Love the show ❤️❤️

55:45 Ayli should not have gained control of Chung-Li back because the control effect was not one that ends at the end of turn and Chung-Li should have been exiled. would have given Kyle one more turn to maybe find an answer.

I was told that exchange control magic when a player died any permanent then goes back to its controller. So if that case she does get Chun Li back. I am not a judge but a L2 judge taught me that. And another fun fact once the monarch is out. It doesn’t disappear. It stays with the table. In turn order if someone dies who controls monarch but didn’t get hit with creature in combat. Control magic is different then if I exiled your card and I cast it. Since she casted the card and it was stolen. Then she gets it back. Make sense? It’s like the magic spell wears off.

Ah, thanks for the clarity on the Monarch. I knew that Monarch didn't leave play. But yes, I'm not a judge, so I'm always grateful for the help of judges helping us understand the game together. There was another rule that was posted on an older episode. Where someone stole one of my creatures and they posted a rule about control magic being different. But maybe they were wrong. I did a quick google search and found this but it's not a judge ruling. But this was my understanding of it: When a Player leaves the game, 3x things happen; They take everything they own with them. All control-change effects that gave them control of an Object, owned by a Player still in the game, immediately end. Everything else they currently control is Exiled. So until we see a judge ruling, looks like you have provided the best answer. But it does say in your ruling that the controlling effects end. And only objects it still controls exile.

I just asked a judge they said it would go back since the controlling magic ends. Ayli is probably one of the best players on this show. What a win, even if it was with Larry’s help 🎉

Yes, in any form, you are casting him. But Larry sac'd the Command Beacon to put him in hand to avoid the tax and cast him for 3 with Jet medallion as reduction. I am THAT Chris, Larry talked about :p

When Greven deals damage to all the players via Chandra's Ignition, does that not count as commander damage? Wouldn't the game just end?

You kinda learn not to get salty when you play voltron, doubly so when you have something like Greven "All gas and precisely zero notion of what a brake is" The Predator Captain. Every move that deck makes is an existensial crisis, so they either stop you now or they die

How did the Kukusho still have haste after the boots were destroyed, the plane didn't give them haste so how did he still have haste? It doesn't matter from the generous gift but it still bugs me that he said that.

Is this Larry’s first loss?

9/10 times my playgroup would just scoop it up if someone gains 200+ life in one turn, and that other time there would be a voltron deck that only asks if your life total is 21 or less.

I didn't see anyone else mention this but Kyle could have won with Chandra's Ignition. Started his turn at 36 life. Lost 1 life from Cabal Pits (which they forgot to count for Greven) Paid 6 life for Shadowspear Paid 15 life for Chandra's Ignition mana leaving him at 14 life. If he then used Immolating Souleater 5 times and Treasonous Ogre once it would have left him at 1 and Greven would have been at 40. 5+1+6+15+(2*5)+3 = 40

Low cmc card draw / selection spells. Can't trips tho are shoes that stay tied.
