Thoughts on the vudu shrimp??
But can we talk about how windy it’s been lately?!
Vudu shrimp is probably one of my favorite inshore baits I’ve never had any problems like this
Try a drop of superglue where the back of the lure starts to ride up the hook
Used this dozens of times and no major issues....However got bored one day and took a gamble on a trick and slid hook off the body and placed a small treble hook or stinger as they are called. Kinda like what you can do with a fluke on EWG hook. This then had the treble hook under that body and main hook on top....From that point on a regular had at least two hooks into the fish. Never had one thrown at that point.. Also the treble hook didnt seem to effect the action of the bait... Tested the movement in a friends pool...... Treble size based on size of the Vudu shrimp 3.5" red #6 Vudu 4" red #6 or #4
There is no doubt if you are targeting one fish at a time, and instead of throwing into a big school of trout you will then notice how many times they get thrown on the head shakes. You would never notice that if you were fission for trial because most of the time as soon as one trial shakes free another ones, grabbing it trust me it’s bad enough that I am on KZread looking for answers
I understand your excitement but reel the fish in before you start raising your hand
Can you start also recommending how to retrieve the lures as you review them?
I bought these ONCE. Left them in my car while working. They were melted the next day.never again
Justin, I really would love to see a video of a gold spoon, I see guys swear by them, but I haven’t had much success with them
This is like my second video on your channel…and I almost unsubscribed seeing the title lol. Man read some comments here…never seen that happen to anyone. Killer bait…you just had a bad day or bad pack. 🤷🏼♂️. I’ll give you another chance…you should spend another day with the Vudu though because this doesn’t make any sense 😂🍻🤙🏻
Use this on the water all the time and have yet to have the problem you had with them shaking the lure. I love it and with a sab of procure, it's lethal!
As at least two other commenters have noted, a drop or two of superglue would almost certainly have stopped the bait from sliding down the hook, an issue which is certainly not limited to the Vudu. Further, it's widely considered a mistake to fish ANY lure "right out of the box," without honing the factory hook until it passes the "thumbnail test."
I’ve caught plenty of species on the vudu shrimp but I mainly use them for trout because they don’t get torn up too easily and the trout love them.
Great videos Justin. I think that loop knot is at least part of the problem. I love Vudu shrimp for flounder especially a little pro-cure on the jumbo vudu out fishes everything else I've thrown for flounder including live bait. Where I'm at the 1/4oz doa shrimp is a much better choice for trout and zman diezel minnowz are my go to for redfish. I've had some unbelievable days this spring fishing the jumbo vudu for flounder just yesterday I caught 21 in 3 hours and 9 of them were over 16". In the last monthv I've caught 5 flounder over 20" all on vudu. I don't have snook in South Carolina but I've never had the problems you were having keeping them buttoned up. I have used a drop if super glue on the front of the hook and it helps. Until a year or 2 ago the vudu shrimp would rip in front of the hook but they've redesigned them and I think are using a stronger plastic so I hadn't had nearly as many rip and I stopped gluing them. I hope you'll give them another chance especially if you're targeting flounder. Try jumbo in gold, brown or natural. I've also had success for reds with the white with chartreuse tail. Tight lines, Mike
I commented this on the lst one too you should do one on the SaltNative skelly shrimp lawson helped design. Not a lot of people use it yet would be a good video
Really loving the new series
Good stuff man. I use the vudu shrimp all the time and it catches everything! 💪
Maybe you can try a rubber bait peg from amazon that you use to keep soft plastics in place. Put one on the hook shank to keep the shrimp from sliding up and keep the hook gap, perhaps.
I use these pretty regularly, you do need to get a good hard hook set with them... absolutely a very useful bait, but you do have to get a good hook set. I catch a lot of reds, and flounder in Texas.
