Luke Skywalker, who in the original trilogy when he heard his friends were in danger raced to save them,freeing Han from the carbonite and helping Leia get free from Jabba after which she strangled Jabba to death, tried to redeem his dad despite the evil things Vader had done and succeeded but was also prepared for the possibility that he'd fail and so was willing to die and take Vader and Palpatine with him when the Rebels destroyed the second Death Star. Luke actually trained for a while with experienced Jedi like Obi-Wan and Yoda unlike Rey who despite not knowing what The Force is or believing it exists uses it to force Kylo out of her mind. And even though Kylo had been trained as a Jedi by Luke and in the dark side by Snoke loses to Rey who'd only just found out what The Force was and picked up a lightsaber for the first time. Then in Last Jedi she just instantly masters what it took actual strong, powerful experienced Jedi years to learn through her power of Mary Sue. People try to use Luke nearly killing Vader in Return of the Jedi to justify him thinking of killing Kylo but in ROTJ it was a moment of anger when Vader threatened Leia but after he chopped Vader's arm off and looked at his own prosthetic arm he realised he was doing what Palpatine wanted him to do, calmed himself down and stopped. But with Kylo he thought of killing a nephew who'd done nothing wrong out of paranoia. The fact that OT Luke goes from the galaxy's hero to sequel trilogy Luke who instead of trying to fix his mistake runs away to an island like a coward, drinks alien tit milk, trains Rey even though she wants to "redeem" Kylo out of lust just because she saw him shirtless, then Luke just Force projects to distract Kylo then randomly dies is a real shame.

He saw a continual cycle that happened just like we did. By 7 it was already ridiculous because all of the Jedi were dead again and there was just the one bad guy with a lightsaber. However, I do sympathize with your point.

@@WhyTho525 The Jedi not using Force healing actually makes sense. They are supposed to not get emotionally attached to others, so I think if someone dies, it´s the will of the Force to them and they don´t try to interfere with it. At least the Jedi in the prequel era. Rey took the old books from the first Jedi temple and I assume there were some mentions of Force healing, so she could learn this ability. Kylo is the dark side user, and the darksiders don´t limit their use of the Force, so he could learn this ability too.

God they really cocked up that trilogy so badly, it was 3 movies trying to be their own films and in the process retconned a bunch of things inconsistently. I mean even the prequels had a more consistent story, awful writing and direction, but at least consistent.

In my opinion I think bringing The Emperor back was a big mistake because it totally gets rid of the redeeming aspect when Darth Vader kills him so that was pointless

Exactly. The ENTIRE PLOT OF STAR WARS is Anakins redemption story. Having Palpatine come back literally makes the entire plot of the past 6 films meaningless since they failed at the entire goal of the story. Vader’s redemption story means nothing because his sacrifice was for nothing. THATS why I fucking hate the sequels and I refuse to accept them as canon. Regardless of the fact that they’re bad from a all around filmmaking standpoint, they also literally destroy the entire point and goal of Star Wars, since at the end of the day it’s Anakins story of his come up, fall, and redemption.

If you can't make sense out of it then you need to fix it, add punctuation and proper grammar; If you seriously can't make sense out of it even when you wrote it properly then rewrite the whole thing, writers have to do so all the time.

it SHOULDVE been, IMO, about Rey’s struggle to resist the dark side because she is a Palpetine and Kylo Ren’s struggle to prove his worth as a Sith Lord but also struggling w the light side. This does sound like the originals or the prequels, but if if they just tried and actually followed a clear cohesive path, then I think it still would’ve been rlly good. Instead, TLJ throws the plan all over the place and ROS tries to pick up the pieces in a rush

Luke wakes up after a Saga of nightmares, to see his beloved spouse Mara Jade, their son, Ben Skywalker, and they all walk out to see the new Jedi Order in all of its glory, hearing good news from Supreme Chancellor Leia Organa Solo, and her admiral husband, Han, and their children having adventures and are dealing with the new threat the Imperial Remnant led by Admiral Thrawn... **Sighs** if only this movie did end that Saga in that way, and brought a new and greater Saga. If only...

We already have the first Order, Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren as antagonist. Resurrecting the 120 years old Palpatine was unecesary when 2 of the 3 antagonist were killed off-screen.

@DromundKaas Resident I agree so much! It just ruins Vader’s arc to finish. I don’t like episode 1&2 but I do like 3 and in the end together with ep 4 to 6 it’s a beautiful arc. Of a young boy being corrupted thought to be beyond redemption. But gets pulled back into the light by his son and dies for him. It’s beautiful. And this movie just spits in the face of that arc and just brings back the ol’ bad just to get asses into seats. Now let’s see how they’re gonna ruin the old republic shall we?

Jazza Gazza maybe luke didn’t know that. Rey kept all the Jedi books in falcon, probably studied them and learned a thing or two. In the mandalorion series, baby Yoda was seen using the same ability, so it wasn’t just something they came up with just for this movie

@@jazzagazza4976 Because it's explained in the movie that, to heal someone, you would have to give part of your life force. That's why Kylo dies at the end of the movie. If Luke tried doing the same thing to Anakin, he'd be just as near-death as he had been.

I liked the movie, in the way that I like transformers as a "turn your brain off and you'll enjoy it" movie, but if you even try to reason something then it's fucking gargabe. My other problem is how it didn't acknowledge TLJ, I hate that movie but the first half of RoS felt like it's supposed to be episode VIII, take Rey's training montage for example. Replace Leia with Luke and nothing changes, Kylo finding AN ANCIENT EVIL AWAKENS could be done in the second movie. Rey struggling and getting madder every passing hour? Episode VIII... That's my main problem. I can see potential in the movie, I can see what it wanted to do but at the same time it felt like JJ tried to make episode VIII and IX in the same movie and he failed spectaculary.

That was one of the first moments that got me rolling my eyes. If you wanted to make a haha funny moment, then someone else should've nagged at the droid for Rey to correct them after. This is the exact same type of writing that you get from Marvel movies yet everyone think they're masterpieces.

I think this is the most "meh" movie trilogy ever made. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. If it wasn't Star Wars I feel these three movies would be far less hated, but that's the issue, they are Star Wars films. People expect more than just a few "meh" movies, and so they should. Disney has undoubtedly turned the Star Wars Franchise into a money printer, with little care as to what they're actually producing.

It's The Hobbit trilogy all over again. At least the Prequels, for all their faults were so blatantly rubbish you could enjoy them on a 'So Bad it's Good Level.' They tried to do something new and bold, failed miserably but gave us some laughs along the way (UNLIMITED POWERRRRR!!!!) The new saga by contrast is competent but boring.

We still got some amazing works set in the world the prequel trilogy built up. Clone Wars is the most obvious, Fallen Order is set post Order 66, and more. I can't imagine anything similar in the world of the sequel trilogy, because they barely build a world.

If you were open-minded enough you can then realise that effectively, vader sacrificed himself to genuinely kill palpatine and save the galaxy from the sith for good.

Im sick of seeing those porgs..... They were a funny gag in their first appearance but as soon as i saw their first merchandise, i immediately knew they were gonna be star war's new "minions"

I think you bring up an interesting thing with the puppets. Something I noticed in these movies that I really missed from the original and prequel trilogy were all the aliens. Sure there are still a lot of aliens in the background but the older movies weren't afraid to have more bizarre looking and eccentric characters featured prominently, even if it sometimes backfired in the case of Phantom Menace. One of the two most iconic characters in Star Wars is a muppet, there were no prominent characters in these new movies that were aliens, not even a bit of face makeup.

They did hire a writer for it. But when he said that making a good storyline for 3 sequels of the most iconic movie franchise ever would need 1 year to make, they said no.

I think the main problem is that they had no clue on what the overall story was going to be. From what I've heard, the original trilogy was written as one long story by George Lucas and then broken up into 3 parts. (Assuming that's true) that means the original trilogy was defined because it was overall one story so the movies connected. With the new trilogy, they just had a "Do whatever you want with it and we'll see where it goes" attitude

Bassically yeah, either they have one person control the over trilogy, or they get multiple directors but first agree upon the overall layout of the trilogy before they start it

There’s an absolutely 0% chance they would have Rey, a female character, lose an arm. In Disney movies (and most modern Hollywood movies in general) women never take any serious damage. Hell, we were lucky Disney allowed Daisy to even get mildly dirty and sweaty at times.

Tyler Massey forget the prequels, remember that time Darth Vader betrayed and murdered Anakin Skywalker then later we find out that he actually was Anakin and Vader only murdered him from “a certain point of view”? Or that time Luke made out with Leia only to find out in the next movie that they were siblings?” Lucas retconned major story beats with the following movie on several occasions due to his “evolving” plan. The actual first planned sequel written for A New Hope was Splinter For the Minds Eye, it’s terrible. Or Lucas’s original plan for Yoda, to have him played by a live monkey in an alien costume. His first attempt at the Star Wars script was a disaster with an entirely different storyline and characters. “Empire” the best film in the series benefited from Kershner who disregarded a lot of Lucas’ direction leading to serious clashing between the two. Plans change but the advantage Lucas has over any others who play in his sandbox, he fully understands the rules of world that he created. It only looks like a plan because we see the finished product but the OT was filled with as much drama as the ST, the PT had the least drama of all the films due to his complete creative control but ... well yea they’re the prequels.

solaariz yea, but atleast they where in Lucas’s sandbox and he was always there to guide the trilogy’s even if faultily. Disney Star Wars never had that one consistent guide through the trilogy who could keep the movies on course and help unify others ideas into making a good product. Lucas made and established what we know as Star Wars, Disney instead of building on it seems to have no regard for what came before... or they wouldn’t of re written half the cannon so they could build their own Star Wars in their image... in typical micky mouse fashion they aren’t trying to expand on what came before and completely disrespected so much already established lore in this trilogy... force healing, light speed suicide bomber, not to mention they brought back all of our favorite characters so they could kill them off, because god forbid our childhood favorites get a happy ending

@@Xphantomgamer Yeah, the prequels have some issues, but there's an actual story in there, buried under all the things that no-one had the balls to tell Lucas "That's a terrible idea", so he left in. But the sequels? I watched them at the cinema, and they were OK in a "turn off your brain and watch the pretty lights" way, kinda like how I enjoyed Avatar (the Cameron one...). I'm glad I watched that in 3D. I have no plans to ever watch it again. I am certainly not interested in spending lots of time and money on that setting, like I did on OT Star Wars, and Disney Star Wasr is currently even less interesting to me

It's honestly kinda hilarious to me that a channel called "I Hate Everything" gave Bionicle: The Movie a better review than Rise of Skywalker. I wholeheartedly agree, but still, Bless.

This is how I would do it. I always felt the biggest missed opportunity was not showing how Luke and Leia ran the order. That was one of the things that I feel would have made it better. Rey should have been Anakin reincarnated, explaining why she is so strong, her connection to the skywalkers, why Anakin's saber called out to her, why Anakin's ghost was absent, ect. Both he and Palpatine come back but in different ways, where Palpatine just puts his soul in another clone body, while Anakin, fearing the return of the sith, gives up his immortality and reincarnates into a completely different body. Rey and Finn also fall in love. Never was that big of a fan of Reylo personally as I always saw them having more of a brother/sister relationship than a romantic one. Rey would also actually have to train as well. xD Instead of just learning stuff that even the chosen one had to train for. She'd still be gifted but I felt she learned stuff too easily. You also could have not had starkiller base. Don't even mention planet destroyers until the final movie, where they release a coupe dozen star destroyers but they destroy well known planets like, Dantooine, Hoth, ect. Rey joins with Luke's new order and after Luke sacrifices himself to prevent Palpatine from killing them, 4 main Jedi go to Exegol to defeat the emperor. Rey, a scavenger and former slave who freed herself and the reincarnation of the chosen one. Finn, a storm trooper that was part of an experiment to artificially create force sensitive storm troopers. Ben, formerly known as Kylo and a former knight of ren, and Poe, a former Jedi from Luke's order and became a bounty hunter who uses the force. Poe, Finn, Rey and Ben join together to fight hoards of sith marauders and sith troopers and finally face the emperor. Leia unites the warring factions that were manipulated by the sith as well as the knights of ren and snoke and his loyalists. There are light sided, dark sided and even gray sided orders shown here, and they all have their own beliefs and agenda. Rey technically fulfills the prophecy since she is the reincarnation of the chosen one and she destroys Palpatine once and for all. Her being the reincarnation of the chosen one would really make the sequel trilogy feel like it's part of the Skywalker Saga. Think about it. Prequels showed Anakin's life as a Jedi, then the originals showed his life as a Sith and with the sequel trilogy, it would show the reincarnation of Anakin: Rey, living a new life and a new adventure. Now be honest, tell me what you think. I personally think something like this would have made the sequels amazing.

@Mustiboi Salman Not really. Especially if this is supposed to be part of the "skywalker" saga. Meaning that Palpatine and Anakin must face each other at some point in some form. If the Sith truly were gone, then have a different threat. But if the Sith have to return, it makes more sense for Palpatine to return and Anakin to return in a different form.

It's not "cool to hate marvel movies." If you genuinely hate them and think they are bloated, forgettable messes, you get accused of hating them because "they are popular."

Damn, when time goes on, this trilogy feels even more annoying and pointless. Was it really worth it to destroy the story of fucking Darth Vader, just to get things such as Rey, Poe, Finn, Holdo, Angry Luke, Rose, Kylo Ren... Palpatine's return is an embarrasment for Star Wars. Best part of The Rise of Skywalker was finally getting Ahsoka Tano to be part of the actual movies. Thanks Disney, that's the best thing this new trilogy brought. Wonder what's gonna happen to Prequel trilogy hating in the future, these new movies surely put some new views to it. Personally never disliked them, and now i'm glad i can enjoy them even more. Always look also for the positive aspects.

I still want a prequel remake. One without Jar Jar, without Sand, without "let's try spinning, that's a cool trick" and without Midoclorians. Leave the "high-ground", but make it more logical (it's not that illogical, everyone's stuck on the wording and relation to real live combat, but in the movie Anakin needed to jump to get over to Obi-Wan, Obi-Wan got him mid jump, which actually does make sense in the end) The prophecy can stay and the dialog needs some work from some good screen writers (although I didn't think it was too unfit for puberty Anakin, still most of it was rather pointless and too drawn out) Would be cool having better CGI too.

I started out defending the sequel trilogy until someone asked me 1 year after RoS released: "Have you actually rewatched the movies" I never once returned to any of the sequel movies. The prequels I can still return to and get an enjoyable watch out of - but I don't think the sequels can do that...

Bang Bang bang I personally liked the movie. It was WAY better than the Last Jedi, and honestly, the part when the Force Ghosts all started talking was so cool. It was fast paced, so there was never a dull moment, and it was pretty enjoyable. It was a pretty good movie. Was it the best movie of all time? Hell no. Was it the worst Star Wars movie? Hell no, that goes to the Last Jedi. I feel like J. J. Abrams fixed the problems that came out of the Last Jedi, and gave us a good movie. Hell, George Lucas wrote the story for this movie, but he also wrote the story for the Last Jedi... Eh, all I’m saying is that I enjoyed it.

Sad how the one interesting characther, finn, the deserter stormtrooper, could have been such an interesting characther but instead just turned into "haha clumsy funnyman". He never acted like any kind of indoctrinated soldier, imagine them using Finns knowledge of new order doctrine to avoid murdering his former comrades in arms, maybe even instigating a mutiny? So much potential and instead we get a guy who just guns down his former comrades without any hesitation and has the discipline of a overweight toddler.

This movie used nostalgia as a shield to distract people from the bad writing.

This is the best one xD

Story time: The ending felt underwhelming and disappointing when I saw it in the theater with my dad and sister. When I got home I put on Netflix to a Japanese Heist anime film called The Castle of Caglisostro its 40 older than this film and that ending felt much more satisfying than The Rise of Shizawalker

I think Rogue one is the best star wars movie Disney have produced.

they changed directors and reshot half the movie but yeah, it was ok in a shoot your snitch in the back kinda way

If you listen closely, when all the Jedi are speaking to Rey, you can faintly hear Ki Adi Mundi saying "what about the droid attack on the wookies?"

It has been a mess but at least the filmmaking was of quality and while the movies may not hold up to scrutiny they are engaging and that is what disney is going for.

R2-D2 has better acting skills and character development than Ray lol

I wish Rey would have just been the birth of a new family saga instead of shoe horning her in with the skywalkers

Got to love how he has the power to wipe out all those star ships But can't overcome one person with a lightsaber...And some how having two lightsabers makes you stronger at blocking even though you only have two hands And he experienced the rebound with Master Jackson and still didn't use a force push to slam her in to the wall at a 100mph Like fuck me it was shit, the more I think about it the more I hate it

One thing I truly hate about this film is the fact they got Ian McDiarmid back as Palpatine but didn't let him ham it up as awesomely as he did in Revenge of the Sith.

Rey: buries Anakin's lightsaber in *sand* Anakin: comes back to life (just as inexplicably as sideous), turns back to the dark side, takes up the mantle of Darth Vader once more and vows to kill Rey This would've been the true Rise of Skywalker

Lol that would have made a better movie. Maybe they could have even had Ahsoka Tano defeat her master and actually introduce a real strong female character that fans actually like.

I thought they were gonna have something to do with Kylo and Rey kissing. Like raising a new generation of force sensitives, but they killed him off.

TrickyMississipi Phantom Hope

The Last Jedis worst sin, to my mind at least, was absolutely squandering Phasma. She was a badass silver stormtrooper captain. There was huge potential for her appearance. Like, hell, her armor could've been lightsaber proof and her backstory could've been a retired Jedi hunter from the early days of the Empire, which would've given her a personal stake in the story. Instead we got "Sweet! Silver stormtr- oh. She's dead. Well that was a thing". As for Rise of Skywalker, it was clearly designed by committee. It was trash, bastardized to try to pander to all groups of conflicting fans at the same time and also to the Chinese government, because nothing must be created that might offend the mighty Chinese market.

Is it just me, or is the title of the film a giant grammatical error? “The Rise Of Skywalker” just doesn’t make sense.

It makes sense if Skywalker is being used as the name for exactly one person. Like, the Rise of John Smith. Still though, it doesn't make logical sense because no one calls Rey just "Skywalker", and it's possibly the shittiest title they could have gone with
