I had a supracervical hysterectomy....

This video is detailing my journey that led me to having a hysterectomy due to fibroids. It wasn't an easy decision, but it had to be done. I hope my story is helpful to many others. Please leave any questions that you may have for me. I will be doing an FAQ video very soon!

I am 1 week post op. I've always had menstrual issues. I went from MISTAKES to birth control, from more birth control to eventually having my baby(20 yrs ago) to having the NovaSure Ablation a few years ago that really helped. This April 2019 I started cramping and for 4 months I suffered the MOST EXCRUCIATING PAIN that I can only compare to CONTRACTIONS AND LABOR. My Dr and I decided on exploration surgery in which he was aiming to clear A blood clot, polyp or fibroid that was in my uterus. Due to scar tissue, that procedure failed. So,we decided to carry on and do the Supracervical Hysterectomy. I don't regret it at all. Hours after my surgery I was pain free. I'm having a little discomfort now but hopefully it's just my insides getting back to normal. I wouldn't wish that pain on anybody.

The surgery was worth it to me , 3 years later and ii don't miss my uterus at all The horror stories you hear about how your body is going change and how you'll continue to have a period... never happened to me Im glad i kept my cervix though i haven't had any problems. Get plenty of rest but also get out and walk as soon as you're able to... even if it's to the mailbox and back. Best of luck to you.

I watched your video and shoock my head so much I felt like a BOBBLE HEAD doll. LOL. I have been EXACTLY where you were. I bled so heavy over almost 10 years. Last Nov, I bled right through my clothes only 2 weeks after a period. Cramps and all. It was like I didn't have the HEAVIEST period only 2 weeks before that. I was in the middle of TEACHING class when it happened. I had to leave class, go to the bathroom (I had pads everywhere, so no problem), and change and leave work. That period stopped Christmas and started again. NON-STOP. I had to have a D&C, had 2 ER visits, and was put on bedrest. They did a sonogram, sono-histogram, and transvaginal sound. Had MRI a while ago too. Finally, gyn sent me to oncologist because fibroids were so big and location was dangerous and I had so much scar tissue from 3 c-sections, he didn't want to touch it. D&C showed uterus was soooo large (10x normal) that doc said it would NEVER stop. Also said fibroids can sometimes turn cancerous. 3+ months later, I feel GREAT! I had a great recovery, but it took longer than expected. I have also had 2 mini-periods because I kept my cervix. That can happen from time to time but they are practically nothing. Annoying, but spotting only for a few days. I did have the same issue that you did, where I forgot that I wasn't bleeding. I was so used to bleeding that it took a long time to not look for it. Thank God you are feeling great and have done what NEEDED to be done. I know about the waiting game and it didn't work for me either but we all have to come to terms on our own. God bless you - welcome to the other side, where life truly is better.

Cindy Sinclair My goodness you went through a lot! I can't believe some of the similarities we have too. It's definitely nice to know I am not alone. I have to say, working with kids and dealing with fibroids has been so tough. I often felt I needed to put on a brave face and not show pain to avoid their worried little faces. I have felt the pain of fibroids ever since being in the school system. I look forward to returning and feeling like a better ME lol. It's hard to still feel sad with this decision when I feel so much better. 😊 May God bless you too sis. Thanks so much for your comment and for watching!

Going thru this myself. 2 yrs ago I found I had fibroids and had Acessa Dec 2020. It was supposed to shrink the fibroids in a years time, but that did not happen. Mine actually grew, and about a month ago it has gotten to the point that I can't do much. I also feel depressed from it because it robs you from a lot. I've lost jobs due to missing because of the fibroid pain, can't workout any longer, and my belly has swollen/feels like constant stabbing pain. Surgery is next week, and I have prayed to God a lot that they can save my uterus/ovaries & if not at the very least the ovaries/cervix. I am 33 and ideally I also wanted to have kids, but right now the biggest is the size of a small watermelon so it is extremely painful & a lot of pressure. This is the 6th doc I have seen in 2 yrs and I am exhausted mentally, physically, financially so I am ready to hopefully get my quality of life back. TYSM for sharing your story!

I'm glad to hear your story, I had a similar situation as you, fibroids, endometriosis and Adenomyosis, painful cramps I was sucking down ibuprofen, for Christmas my period came for the whole month, I had to get blood and iron tablets to take, the whole thing was a nightmare, I'm now post OP 1 week of supracervical hysterectomy. I'm 45 and I had my kids bet 18 and 24, the dr left my ovaries and cervix. I know for you it was a big decision since you have not had any kids as yet, people have no idea what it is like dealing with this pain and bleeding almost every day of your life, I myself went into depression at one point. Stay strong there are so many options for having children I know you will find one that suits you the best, good luck.

Thank you for sharing. I also don’t have kids. When I found my husband that was a goal of ours. For several years we’ve tried to get pregnant but nothing. Unfortunately, we don’t have the money for IVF treatments. So I’ve been going through things and my doctor after 2 years suggested a hysterectomy I mentally went into shock. It wasn’t until I got told my husband that I broke down. I’m thankful for your video because I can relate to the grieving, I didn’t truly realize it until you said it. Also, I’m happy your no longer in pain. It made me think of the biblical story of the women who touched the hem of Jesus garment after years of bleeding. You are blessed and your words are a blessing to me. I will much success in your life and whatever you decide to do.

I wanted to let you know that I appreciate you for sharing your story. You've explained so much. I needed answers and you have helped me understand. I thought I was crazy grieving over having a complete Hysterectomy. I've had my children and I'm 52. But I have been going through a functional depression. I've lost all interest in things that used to make me happy. Loosing my complete female organs is very difficult. I have my surgery on March 2. I have had my period every day of my life since I 15. The only time I didn't was through my pregnancy with my 3 sons. I'm not gonna know how to feel. But thanks again for sharing. Pray for me. Doctor said I will be straight into menopause.

Omg it just like you telling my story, I went through the exact samething . Transfusion after transfusion I have had it all . My levels were so low that I was hospitalized because my counts was extremely low. I don't have any kids either, that was hendering from going ahead getting it done. But last month it got so unbearable I was bleeding so much I was week. So me and doctor both agreed it was time. Because we had tried everything we could to fix this issue and nothing help. I had my surgery August 13, and I think it was my best decision I ever made for myself . So thank you for sharing your story because , it will help others who may be struggling with going ahead and getting the surgery. God bless you

Hey I have fibroids also and I started having heavy periods too, and choose to get the iud instead of an hysterectomy back in March.. The iud started giving me leg cramps right at the crease of my leg and back pains.. I had the iud removed and the flood gates of Hell came through..I bleed so bad.. my hemoglobin drop to a 7.. and it took me two months to get it back up unto a 12.. now I’m getting my hysterectomy in December... I just wanted to share this with you cause I choose the iud route and it causes pain in my legs... if you decide to take it out just be prepared cause I thought I was got to lose my mind... be careful

As I sit here in my bed scrolling, your myomectomy video popped up. I just stopped and began watching it. I am 44, no children and was on the fence between a myomectomy and a total hysterectomy + oophorectomy (my mother died of ovarian cancer). The chances of me actually having a child at this point are very slim (age, no good Daddy candidate, etc), but my reasoning for possibly going the “conservative route” was to feel as whole as possible in the interim. I am already considered peri-menopausal. I have not had BRCA testing to even see if I carry the cancer mutation, but I already know if I go the hysterectomy route, I would have it all taken. As I heard you speak about your therapist speak about depression and how you were likely grieving, I began to weep. I can very much relate and I am in the midst of all of that now. I thank you for sharing your journey. It’s a journey that not everyone can or will understand, especially when you don’t have the support that you feel you will likely need to get through this. I do not. I live very far away from family and I don’t have a significant other or many friends here. The myomectomy is something I was considering as it likely won’t be as intrusive and my recovery may not extend out as my hysterectomy would (my own thinking) plus, I just would like to be as intact as possible at least for the next 4/5 years as menopause is knocking at the door for me (I will be 45 soon) and at that point, they may not come back and if they did, would possibly shrink during menopause also, if they did, I would be more “ready”. As I stated, if I did go hysterectomy route it will be with ovaries taken d/t my Mother’s demise and I’m not really interested in hormone therapy quite yet. Anyways, I know this is long but I think the Lord allowed me to click on your channel to provide solace and give a little hope. May God continue to bless you and congratulations on your new home Sister. 🌹❤️

It took me three doctors before I found one who would do a supracervical hysterectomy. He did have to check me for cancer first though and once I was clear of that, he did the procedure. It's been 10 days and I feel great. I have a little soreness in my tummy but that's it. I've been moving around and all. We even had a superbowl party which was 4 days later and I was walking around fine. If you don't have to remove anything except your uterus, please ask for a supracervical procedure. I feel great and I feel amazing.

I wanted to ask, did you have any bleeding and spotting after your surgery? Also, I've heard if you leave your cervix you can possibly have mini periods at the time of your monthly cycle because some of the endometrial cells and remain in the cervix after removal of uterus and can trigger to bleed as your cycle. Have you had any kind of bleeding monthly like this? Thank you for your help.. God bless..

What was your eating habits like after your first myomectomy? I ask because it has been theorized that certain foods (such as red meat, soya, sugar, alcohol etc) encourage the growth of fibroids. I wonder if implementing a plant based diet would help prevent the regrowth of fibroids after removal 🤔

Diet definitely affected mine. Mine grew under stress which made me eat food I'm intolerant to: dairy, gluten and alcohol. Not everyone is sensitive to these things but I definitely am. Maybe my body's histamine response made my fibroids grow. There is definitely a link.
