I Guessed Wrong And It Almost Cost Me $1,000,000...
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
THIS IS THE HEAVIEST LOAD WE EVER PICKED as we were at 150% capacity of max lifting capacity in our 75 ton Rotator... Wrecker Rick & War Machine hit the road to Bullhead City, AZ to help out a friend who needs to relocate a large shear and brake press! The weights of the equipment (and size) is really unknown until we get there. Our Mission: Load up both pieces of equipment on the lowboys and follow to Lake Havasu City, AZ to unload. Watch along as we figure out how to rig this equipment, pick the equipment, and almost lose the equipment along with our $1,000,000 Rotator in the process!
Enjoy!

I'm sure they curb the actual weight caps of those rotators to keep people from killing themselves...however cable's snapping might be something to ponder ...but impressive risk taking

@@hamm29 He's definitely over the working load limit of the cables by just a bit, 7/8 has a working load limit of 15,200, All 6 together brings it to 91,200 and he was just a bit over that, but the breaking strength of 7/8 is a 5:1 safety factor so it shouldn't break so long as its in good condition until 79,600 per line, bringing the total to 477,600 pounds. He is over the working load limit but there is more than enough safety factor in place for him to not have to worry about a cable snapping.

This is Heavy hauling great job Richard
I used to work at a place in Philly called Edward G BUDD automotive stamping. And these look like the units the office workers would use to run tests on incoming material. They used Train Flatbeds to move real equipment outside to work on it. One stamp, a 500,000 ton snapped a railcar in half, before someone realized it had been built in place, in Giant pieces, in 1907! The place closes in 2006 because there were no skilled workers who wanted to risk their life in a Zulu neighborhood, for a paycheck. My Uncle George's last day there. He made more that day, then he made for the first year, and a half he worked there. He stamped the 4 doors of 410,000 Ford Tauruses over it's production life. He started when he got out of the Army in 1945. Imagine getting paid 3¢ a stamping, and it's an entire Jeep floor pan? Never missed a day of work. Loved his life. Drank 2 beers every day with his lunch. Said water was unhealthy to drink. Stay Western.

@@heyinway Last I heard the Bush administration sued the German owners of Budd, and forced them to sell them to the Chinese trying to knock down the $4 trillion loan Bush spent on the Iraq war. I know a bunch went to Mexico that made the F 150s, and the Taurus & Sable after Bush, and friend crashed the stock exchange. Obama sued Ford because they used GHW Bush grants to buy the stamps back in the 80s. Ford had to open a plant in Detroit to use the presses the government said they had shipped south of the border. It was even in Ford's commercials in 2012. "America is opening back up!" Yeah thanks to an Obama lawsuit, to get Americans working again. My Brother says Big Bart, the 1,500,000 ton press got pieced out for scrap, and the top flange with Budd's cast into it, is in Germany as a 20 ton retirement present to the former president of the company. He told my brother, when a Republican government says you're paying your workers to much money, and you should move everything to China, it's time to close the doors, and go home.

That shear was one of the good old Cincinnati shears of the late 1950-60's ear, where metal was king. You could have lost 12,000 pounds of weight by removing the flywheel. The aerospace company I worked for had a 50 foot diameter vertical lathe that weighed in at 1,200,000 pounds. To remove the table, there were 8-10 pie shaped wedges each weighing close to 70,000 pounds. All of our large machines had a mobile gantry where all of the controls were located along with the operators station. When they got out of the heavy metal business, the salvage crews came in with air arc torches and chopped it up. A sad day for the company employees. The good thing about new hydraulic wreckers is once they reach maximum load, just stop working. The old mechanical wreckers run until something breaks something, like a gear box, PTO shaft or drive chain. You're a braver man than me Wrecker Rick.

Rick, the large presses all weigh between approx. 40 and 70 tons. The smaller ones 25 - 40 tons. A good 40 years ago, we cleared out a production hall where there were large presses, bending machines, straightening plates and dozens of other smaller machines and tools. Punching machines stood there. We had a 500-ton truck-mounted crane because we had to lay out further. Moving into the new hall was not so easy either. Nice video Rick, fortunately nothing happened. Greetings from Frankfurt Gerold

@@zyamadeadborn1785 on the door panel near the beginning of the video is a chart, riveted to the inside of the door face. Rick was referring to that chart and the Cameraman showed this. Before using any position the truck must be level, Rick admitted this was his 1st time using the leveling gage. I'm very glad he read the chart.

@@MURPHYSDIESEL yeah I have been there before, but these days you just can’t do that sort of stuff anymore. It’s up to the operator to call it and say no more, I need to get another machine in here to help out. At the end of the day the customer isn’t paying you more for risking your machine and you as the owner of the company need to promote a culture for your drivers to live up to of safety is first and not to risk damage to their equipment. I reckon a crane would be a good addition to your fleet. 👍
That’s how most turn a rotator over. Lifting and not leveling. If you have a MMO it has a digital level gauge. The turret has a sterling valve that bypasses not a brake.
