I Got to Drive an Excavator! (Day at JCB HQ)
I operated an Excavator and a Backhoe Loader for the first time at JCB Headquarters! To celebrate the release of the JCB Pack for Construction Simulator, Astragon and JCB invited me to try the game and then the real thing. Big thanks to everyone who helped to make this happen, it was fantastic.

Squirrel - your nephew in NZ here! Great video, a good plant operator is worth their weight in gold. It's an art. It's amazing how delicate these machines can be. And at the same time, I've had them moving millions of tons of muck in a matter of months. Awesome kit.

Shame that in New Zealand, your classed as a "good operator" if you can turn the ignition key and switch the machine on with no pre-start! Operators here in nz are shocking, compared to the uk!
I have been working with excavator (Kubota 1,5t) and I have to say, you are very skilled and fast learner. You managed to get to know the controls in very short time. It took me few hours before realizing which joystick does what and how to operate with both hands simultaneously. It is great, that JCB allowed you to try their machines, because they are one of the best construction machinery manufacturer in the world. And I think it is needless to say, but your videos are amazing and keep doing the great job.
Absolutely amazing watching this video and seeing the pure joy that Squirrel was having. I hope we can see more videos of Squirrel being able to experience these sims in real life since these experiences look fantastic. Also thanks for always being such an upbeat and positive guy. We could use more of that positivity on YT. Hearts from FL!

The moment when he said "just put it back in. You've got the skills!" That's an achievement! GZ on that and thank you for the footage :)

The combination of that, and after seeing him do ONE SCOOP with the excavator, coming over and saying "I can see you can operate it fine so i'm gonna give you more power" just straight away, shows both how quickly squirrel got to grips with it all, and how much general knowledge you gain from decent sims.
This is why more and more people start playing sims (like ConSim and Farming) with double joysticks when driving excavators etc.: because it feels more realistic
Can't believe been over ten years. Whew, the nostalgia is real. Anyhow, it's great that you keep hitting your goals or bucket list items.
I'm behind a few minutes, but scooping up that first load! Wow, game me the giggles. Well done m8!
It's officially a good day when a Squirrel video comes out
Hopefully some new simulator game play soon, miss truck simulator videos!

And my summer car videos
Tea and biscuits consumption is a mandatory requirement before operating a JCB machine. Likewise, coffee and Donuts must be eaten before driving a CAT.
I'm sorry, I can't take my eyes off the lovely instructor 🥰 That was fantastic to watch though. The history is really cool to hear about. Wonderful video Sir.
You are so lucky to play with those monsters ! When I was young adult I had an opportunity to drive a similar payloader without any help... was fun and stressing ! You give me a big push to buy that game ! Thank you to share your fantastic experience !
When Squirrel said "Bucket List" I thought pun intended? 😄
That looks like it was a lot of fun! Lot's of people dream about playing with the big toys! Glad you got to check that off your bucket!
All right, @Squirrel - I've seen you drive Scanias, locomotives, now backhoes & excavators. When are we getting a video of you doing touch & go's in a 737 or Airbus?? :D
I was lucky in that while in US federal prison I was given the job to maintain all the heavy construction equipment, even though I had zero experience with them. I sure learned a lot by the seat of my pants and by reading the manuals.
That looked like so much fun! Definitely living a childhood fantasy right there.
Squirrel doing a IRL tutorial on how to drive the JCB loader haha
Certainly interesting to see someones perspective of how JCBs are, I for one know first hand of JCBs and their operation - I work delivering JCBs to various ports around the UK (mainly Southampton) to be shipped all over the world. Great company to work for and top notch equipment! Great videos Squirrel and welcome to Staffordshire and Rocester.
Great Video Paul, did you know Greg Wallace went there for a 'Inside the Factory' ep?, showing how they're made, also interesting!
If you're ever in Australia, I'll take you around on our Asphalt crew. Using pretty much all the same brands that are in ConSim as well. Pretty cool to see it all work in the sim like it does IRL. Awesome video man. Keep it up!
I saw the intro and thought "that's a REALLY realistic simulator"
Great video as an avid machine enthusiast/excavator operator it was interesting watch and I liked the scale models of the old prototype machines at the museum. Top Notch British Built equipment
Got a Fastrac on our farm and of all the things i’ve ran from Case, John Deere, New Holland, and Versatile, the JCB is by far my favourite. Super comfy and powerful! 🇬🇧❤️
Good job Squirrel. You have some good skills. I supervised construction for 40 years and you did pretty good for a first time.
Nice video. Had my share of backhoing digging out trenches on my property with an old Massey 35. (Yellow Industrial version of the MF165, heavily reinforced. The Frontloader can break concrete walls lol). Pain in the whole body running for hours, not like that modern ones you got no that are real, comfy. Really should have gotten digger (excavator) on my MF 3060 but ... Its so much easier to just rent a mini digger (excavator) :)
The machines have changed a bit since I worked at a JCB dealership.
great vlog thank you for filming the day at JBC hope you are well and hoped you had a great day there anyways take care and of your self 😃
You don’t drive a piece of machinery YOU OPERATE IT
3:21 cookies and tea !! - that is a must have !!
That was really great and also a lot of awesome fun, I envy you man. Great video 🤠
Paul has documentary level production but still follows his roots of simulation fun Even though it's all real this time
Being a subscriber for a long time, now to see you having fun! Awesome to see. And almost 1mil Subscribers!
Im curious why they put a redesigned boom and stick on the 245xr instead of the 220x boom and stick which looks beefier.
That looks so much fun
yeah get those arcade controls turned off and turn on iso controls
Managed to pronounce Uttoxeter correctly! 10/10
Saw an episode of Time Team where the JCB operator peeled a banana, held in someone's hand, with the bucket teeth. Great skill.

That's like the video my girlfriend showed me of a guy backing a semi up to a tea cup, then dropping and lifting the trailer axles repeatedly to dunk a teabag he had attached to the trailer. Sadly he got out and added the milk by hand.
Wow a squirrel video!
This was a really interesting watch. Can't wait to see where else you are invited to in the future!
Could a couple of Logitech extreme 3d joysticks be used to try and give a kind of real control feel I wonder
Your OMSI 2 videos was such vibes and nostalgia you made me so jelous not having the GAME
I'm sure you filmed this ages ago, but I literally driven past that JCB depo 4 times since yesterday 😂
Absolutely brilliant, must have been a fantastic experience, excellent video and well done 👏🏻
i thought someone farted when you started driving at first lol
Looks like a lot of fun was had. Good on ya! Guess you're going to want to improve your controls for the computer now.
Fantastic video! It was great to see this experience through your eyes
I was always told ISO was left stick whole boom up and down and slew and right was dipper in out and bucket curl and SAE was the boom and dipper swapped sticks
what a great experience
You should have brought with you a car ready for the the depony, because smashing cars with a such excavator, and have control like the showel is a part of your body is insanely fun, that one step above extremly fun. I worked at a scrapyard and was the nr. 1 driver on a 30 ton Kobelco where there showel it self weighted 1.1 tons. You may see how satisfying it is to figure out first how to enter the destruction, should it be in the frontwindow to the seats and twisting the whole dashboard out with the steering wheel and everything, or having a distance, rasing the boom, and just releasing with full extend of the radius straight in the roof! Its such a kickoff!!! :D Excavators are a part of your body as technology is described as a stick. You have control of a such machine... Wheelloaders are fast on wheels but the view sucks and its clumpsy... Useless..
He a builder
Did you manage to see any hydrogen equipment
Amazing video. Nothing beats first time use of a machine in real life after using it in various sims. From personal experience there is nothing quite like the all wheel steer. When I was getting my telehandler license, finding out a fraction of a steer with the boom extended some makes a big difference to the forks/attachment position on the end! The feeling never gets old when using these machines!
Do it everyday and the thrill goes away lol😮😅

Wow how come u haven't been uploading I used love watching ur my summer car how come u upload it anymore
Hey this isn’t simulation
Did they had any plans for electric versions of their equipment? Or do they already have those?
@squirrel
Жыл бұрын
They already have electric and hydrogen powered vehicles. For the big stuff they will use hydrogen.
Iam. Excavator operator
who nikced my gaiming chair i have that red gaiming chair
Was it JCB who mandated using Generic Rock Music for the construction equipment video, or is that a Universal Media Law? :D
Matt is no operator, machines rocking about all over the shop. Day 1 lesson is to always make yourself level and stable. Definitely just a seat warmer
"Backhoe" giggidy
JCB equipment is trash prefer CAT
I've hated every JCB I've ever had to run.
