What you called a bookshelf is called a what-not. Because you put what-not on it - things that have no other place to sit within the home. The glass rolling pin likely has openings with lids (sometimes with corks). Cooks would fill it full of cold water. Some cooks believed it made the best pie shells. Wish I was there with you. My wallet might not be too happy but I would be over-joyed!😊

My head is exploding with all the amazing treasures in that house! I would have spent hundreds there! Some of the prices weren’t bad-I’ve paid $15-20 for children’s chairs many times. The butter molds were a deal and those books were beautiful. I will have to watch this video again. That house is amazing with all the built-ins! I would be taking pictures for future reference if you are still thinking about building your forever home. This was one of your best ever tours!

Glass rolling pins are the best. Fill them with iced water. They will not stick like wooden pins do. I wanted all the milk glass, cosmetic jars, I think there were ironstone creamers. TFS

The black item you thought was a chicken feeder is! it's by Hoeft & C patent date was Aug 18 1914. The white porcelain container is actually a loose leaf tea strainer.

Hi Julie. What a treasure of a house. I could be happy to live in it just as it is. I really hope noone 'remuddles' it and ruins it. Good find with the glass rolling pin. The small ceramic strainer you wondered about goes in a teapot for loose tea.

This looks like some elderly person’s great-grandmother’s things that have almost been left as is. And I think some of those items should go to a museum! My grandmother had items like this and when she passed but most of them were donated. She was the family keeper of things.

The glass rolling pins was designed to put ice in it before people had marble a stone counter tops. The cold temperature makes the dough easier to roll out without sticking. I actually have one. I fill it up with peppermint candies at Christmas time. It's super cute.

I would have bought the entire contents. My Lordy, that place was a museum. NOTHING was overpriced if you collect true antiques. I saw Flow Blue pieces, would have doubled the price for those wooden butter molds. The black metal piece does appear to be a water or feeder for baby chicks. I could have put every piece for sale and made money….but I doubt I could have parted with any of it. Sadly, people don’t appreciate it, think it is worthless, and try to “up cycle”. These treasure cannot be replaced. And Oh My Goodness, that cotton. I grew up on a cotton farm where it was hand picked. That “grade of cotton” display definitely needs a museum to care for it properly. It is very sad that people have lost their history. Oh yes, the pieces at 1:34 that you said might be bookends, appear to be hand carved jade. I am not sure without closer look, but that could be worth quite a bit of money. Soldiers used to send pieces home from overseas. You will rarely find such a collection of treasures in one place again. It makes me so sad.

@@blessedmommy7805 I used to have a small antique shop, loved the “hunt”. Where I am, those were wonderful pieces, well cared for, and very good prices. How I wish I could get in just one place with such treasures. It all depends on where you live. Try New Orleans to Mobile, Al prices. You might suffer sticker shock. What a great sale!

This was an estate sale of a lifetime Julie! Beautiful true antiques. You can’t go into a place like that thinking you’re going to have Goodwill bins prices. These were well cared for items that were worth every penny. Those needlepoint items were the deal of the sale. I would have bought every one of them. Those hand-carved jade bookends were incredible!

@ginaharwood Thank you for adding your comment. Wasn’t that place spectacular? So much history in one little house. And you are correct. Don’t expect GW bins prices. GW sells junk you dig through and maybe you find something. This estate sale was a walk back in time.

Ok before I forget what I was going to tell you I will tell you now. That tall ceramic piece with the holes looks like a hat pin holder. Now if you can find the fancy hat pins to go in it that would look nice in your decorations. The calendar plates from 1911 are over 100 years old. They are seven years older than my Dad would have been if he was still living. Those old magazines would be fun to look at the old ads in them. They would also be good for decopodging (not sure that is spelled correctly) on things. Cut out the pictures or ads whichever you like and just lay them in all different directions on a glass jar. So many amazing things at that house.
