I love Gene Marshall dolls! They are so beautiful and well made. I have several I collected back in the 1990's. Little note. I once got to meet Mel Odem at a doll signing at the Doll Market in North Carolina. He was very nice! He signed a few of my Gene doll certificates of authenticity because he didn't want to stain the doll itself. Wow! I just love your videos! They are so fun!

Welcome to your new obsession! I collect Barbie and Fashion Royalty/ W club dolls, but I adore Gene Marshall and now Tonner dolls as well. Her clothing is made with such quality and style, and fashion from the 1930's, 1940's and 1950's, the height of couture and Hollywood. Your girls are from the Ashton-Drake era designed by Mel Odom, some really great dolls came later with Integrity when he partnered up with Integrity and Jason Wu and the bodies were fully articulated, these are some of my favorites. These dolls will quickly steal your heart and wallet, lol.

I recently started collecting Genes. They were made with the adult collector in mind - as you noticed, they fit in the hand of an adult and are easier to dress. I was shocked by their size at first, but now, I love them. My college friend, Doug James, designed many of her ensembles, including the one you have with the tweed skirt, which I believe is called Afternoon Off. Enjoy!

This is an unbelievable gift! So much goodness. Mel Odom put his soul into Gene. It shows in the details of her outfits in particular. Have you found the other characters in her world. There are Trent, Madra and Violet. They have different face molds than Gene.

Vogue patterns sold several patterns for Gene. I recognize some of the outfits that were made from these patterns. The lady who made those did a great job.

Oh my!!!! I love this!!! That moment when Rhett made her put on the red dress!!!!! I never knew wether to applaud him or be cross! Scarlett has a way of making you on her side even though she is atrocious at times! I’m so glad you fell in love with them! That outfit with the scarf!!! And go mama with the handmade outfits!!! You dressed them at the end in exactly the 3 outfits I would have to! Because they are bigger I was imagining a dolls house where they were the ladies upstairs….. like some kind of super race and all the smaller Barbies were downstairs serving their needs and plotting a world takeover secretly! Lol a fashion doll upstairs/ downstairs sci fi drama if you will. Now running off to eBay to have a sneak peep. A joy as always Kada . I saw a few in the Paris fashion doll show in March but I did not adopt any... my budget you know! I also missed my chance to buy one in a "vide grenier" (I know but a doll collector used to sell in this vide grenier regularly downsizing her collection). I bought a first Tonner doll that I adore. Then I bought a second Tonner doll. She is beautiful but I regret a bit and should have bought Gene instead. Oh well, so is life 🙄 My Ddung doll comfort me when I make mistakes! 😶😏🤗😁😅🤣🤣

What an exquisite collection you snagged! They are gorgeous! My favorite outfits are the pin up and the Marilyn Monroe outfit. I know I’ve seen these dolls before, but I think it the name “”Gene” that kinda pulled me away honestly. I think of Gene Simmons lol. I would definitely give each of these ladies a new beautiful name.

I love Gene. She was one of my first fashion dolls when I started collecting 25 (!) years ago. She was quite expensive then, but you can find most of her Ashton Drake collection relatively inexpensively now. Integrity/Jason Wu is a different story! I definitely think you need Madra to provide a counterpoint to Gene. Not even a frenemy to Gene, Madra is a bad girl supreme! 😂 And her wardrobe reflects that.

What a beautiful collection. How generous of your friend. I tried so hard to love Gene when she first came out but i just couldn’t. It just wasn’t the same for me as barbie. Having said that, at some point later on they came out with a barbie sized 12 inch Gene and i wish i had gotten those. I always look forward to all your videos. You have all the energy i wish i had. lol ❤
