    @@ms2k7 - :) which is exactly why I put a heavy duty suede strap on mine out of the box with rubber grommet locks. For £30 it's not worth messing about. Pic: bit.ly/3aVd97g Suede on the inside of the strap also helps stop the guitar moving about as they are not light as you will know. This will help with neck dive on an SG as well. I've recently bought some German Schaller locking pegs to try, but probably on a less expensive guitar first :) and be careful with the screw depth on these - tell them its for a LP. You can get a grommet for free from a Groltsch beer bottle cap (apparently) although I bought a pack with mixed sizes and depths on Amazon. On all my guitars now. Pic: bit.ly/38TFYza

    @@Peter-ff1tp I understand the problem with China undercutting the American brands. I agree with you on that, but I also believe guitars are for playing. I lost a lot of sympathy for Gibson when they destroyed all those Firebird X guitars that could have been given to schools, or they could have done anything other than making that egocentric video of someone driving a machine over perfectly useable guitars. They didn’t even take the parts off before destroying them. Certainly at the very least they could have salvaged the bridges and tuners. Waste not want not.

  • @thomaskafafian2871

    @thomaskafafian2871

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Peter-ff1tp not to beat a dead horse, but another nuanced point is that Gibson has agreements with Chinese factories to make those same guitars for Epiphone in those very same factories. The real businesses getting hurt are the guitar stores because they can’t legally sell Chibsons and no one wants to buy an Epiphone double neck for $1250 when they can buy an Epiphone double neck that says Gibson for 400. It probably helped Gibson by bringing a lot of new people into the market to eventually buy the real thing when they get sick of the Chibson.

    the general consensus is without replacing a few things they really aren't, you take a chance when you get them, sometimes you get something totally unplayable and other times you get a guitar that is playable but of course with shitty hardware. I bought a blank sg last year from china (no logo!) and after receiving it and fixing/replacing hardware its really nice! though like i said half of the time you'll get something that is so totally fucked its impossible to fix. I like mine though.

I have been learning about all the different kinds of thin line and hollow body's out there trying to decide what I want..[err... need??] I came across the D Angelico Deluxe SS in Matte wine "limited edition" . Its listed on Sweetwater as a pre order for $1999.99, and says that only 25 will be sold in the US. Purely from a collectors point of view would this be of interest? I would appreciate your input or anybody else's opinion on the potential value of items like this. Personally I think that pretty much of what D Angelico is making is damn gorgeous. I would personally prefer a carved top Flame maple instead of laminate but alas those things are usually out of my price range. Thanks for any input and maybe you could unbox a few of these, it would be fun..

    Any interest in a 1994 Fender Strat 40th Anniversary Edition? Awesome guitar. Great finish. Original owner. Had one of the pots replaced about 10 years ago. There’s a loose connection in the positioning switch. Hard shell Fender TSA case....since the airlines broke the original case.

    Your channel rawks. Seems epiphone is kicking it up a notch. My Snow Falcon is pretty dam good for the money. I got a great deal on it but if I had paid $900 the price it was going for I still would have been happy with it. So I decided to order the Tommy Thayer electric blue guitar. Also Schecter guitars are awesome. Never had a bad one and I have 6 of them from new to going back to 2007.

    Weird with that first guitar they didn't also abandon the body shape with the decision not to go headless. I imagine it is a bit neck heavy and there would be less surface area to finish by filling in that vee part of the body for a starters. Even if the headless design was not appealing, just to put a headed neck on a strange body is even less appealing.

    the guitars with a sentimental value are the best, my mother bought me a 1987 marlin k34t sidewinder when i was 17 years old (it was £150 which was way way over my budget at the time haha). It started when i saw it hung up in my favourite guitar shop, somehow it stood out from the rest to me, for months I'd go in that shop just to look at it and see it was still there, i spoke about it lots until one day it wasn't hung up there anymore, but i didn't let it get me down because i knew i was broke, however little did i know my mum got it for me for that christmas, i was shocked and amazed as i had only spoken about it, never showed a picture but she knew exactly which one! and since then it has been my go-to gigging guitar!

    I got a 1982 Schecter Strat, i've played others and they feel great but i just couldn't bring myself to buy a modern one. The Omen, The Damian ect,. Not my cup of tea but the strat is something else and the maple neck on it is stunning, anodised pick guard Seymore Duncan singles 2 x A5's and an A 4.1 in the neck and phase switching , it's a bit special.

    @@Trog Oh damn I just looked it up, that thing is beautiful. But also the greatest thing about it? It's got 2 p90s!!!! Finally epiphone are coming out with good and cheap mahogany guitars with p90s instead of humbuckers. I've been after a mahogany guitar with p90s for a while now, they're surprisingly hard to find for a decent price. What I'd love even more though is the same thing but in walnut colour. I love the idea of just having a big slab of mahogany with two p90s strapped into it for a rugged non-fancy rock and blues machine. I might have to get one of the green ones then strip the paint off and stain it brown and refinish it cos it doesn't seem like they have a walnut finish one Also they've got an entire new range of SGs called the "SG Muse". Trogster, you _HAVE_ to review one of them. They look strange but great. The difference can't simply be just the paint job though, I wanna know all the minute differences like you do in your videos, nobody goes into as much detail as you. It's a strange name for an SG too.
