When I was 18, I had a Nova that drove perfectly to work all week. Friday night it would NOT!! run to pull it's self out of the parking lot. One Friday night it runs perfectly and I hit a deer at 130mph. We changed the frame and put a used front clip on it and drove it to the drive in Saturday night. True story. Thanks for sharing with us.

Hello, Let me start with, I am not a hater ! I have been messing with old cars since I was eight years old. I will be 75 in Sept. this video makes me wonder how you ran a hot rod/custom shop for whatever the time was. There are a few basic steps to figuring out why an engine will not start or why it keeps dying. I was not seeing you look for any of those things or even mentioning them. You do not need your father to help you with the basics, you should know them by heart ! Also, I did not see a voltage reducer on your firewall. You need one on that six volt ignition system. Even a lot of 12 volt cars have them to avoid burning the points. When they use a points distributor. You used to be able to buy 8 volt batteries for the old cars and they did not damage things like a 12 volt battery will. That 8 volt power was mostly for the lights on the vehicles, though they did help with starting. You are likely burning up the points in the distributor or jumping spark to the dist. housing causing a short. Getting shocked by touching the car is way wrong ! Something is causing the battery voltage to go to the body and frame and you are acting as a ground so I would check out the grounding points on the car. Check engine to frame ground, add a ground strap to aid that connection. Also add a body to engine strap. You can buy those straps or buy the strap material and build your own. Do you have the starter cable hooked up backwards on the battery ? The model A uses ( as many of the vintage cars and trucks did ) a positive ground electrical system. Your Dad should be able to help you with that ! On a 6 volt, ( as well as 12 volt ) system the ground is all important to anything electrical ! I am not an expert at anything, but I have not been sleeping all of the last 66 years ! NOTE TO HATERS AND KNOW IT ALLS, please do not send me replies to this comment. It is a waste of time for you as well as me. Well this comment got pretty long so I am out of here. Good luck with your project. Work Safe, Be well Enjoy Life

If your alternator isn't wired up yet, your running on battery voltage. Try running a ground cable from the engine to your frame. the motor mounts are probably rusted and your not getting a good connection. That could explain why your getting a shock, when your touching both the engine and car body. Your on a quest. That engine will run.

  • @CaseysCustoms

Normally yes! But this is a 2” dimple die and my gas cap hole is only 1.25”, so if i drilled it out the proper size (2”) i wouldn’t have any material there to weld the cap too. Not having the full 2” cut out also put a huge bind in the panel (you can tell after I’m done with the dimple tool) this bind would be much less severe if i was able to cut the normal 2” out.
