A heads up for anyone owning a GMC/Chev with the 5.7 or 6.2 engines from 2019-2023. Research proves GM is trying to protect themselves from the added costs of replacing a defective oil cooler line. The issue is at the engine block where the inlet and out cooler lines attach to a external adaptor to the engine block. When the outside temperature is cold and you start your engine, the engine oil heats up. At some point the high pressure line will have a catastrophic failure dumping your oil on the the pavement. If not shut down quick enough, your engine will lock up. GM not only has a national back order on the oil cooler line but also has a back order on the engines leaving you without a truck and possible payments. Proof is in the pudding! Research “Global Safety Field Investigations DCS5833. GM says the defect only on certain VIN trucks sold in Canada and Alaska. This is false! Research proves trucks in several states who have diverse cold temperatures are having cooler line failures. Look up GM N212326940 This should be a National Recall for every GM/Chev. truck sold! ATTENTION: If You have purchased these trucks, PURCHASE the Extended Warranty package that covers the engine/transmission. GM is getting away not paying on vehicles after 60,000 miles until the owners file enough complaints with the Federal Trade Commission and NHTSA. I was able to purchase the cooler line from the Chev dealer in Canada but after it was installed, they said the 6.2L engine was locked up would need to be replaced on my extended warranty.

Something I've learned through the years and a saying I have. "If it has tires or tit's, it will give you problems." With that said I learned that some are more reliable and better built than others, but eventually they all will give you problems. You just have to roll with the problems and fix them. Sometimes an easier fix than others. Good luck my brother and God bless.

Thanks for posting your experiences. I've been thinking of going from a gas to diesel GMC or Chevy "refresh" in either High Country or Denali trim. I've had several good test drives and I'm impressed with it, but I've been hesitant because every time I speak to a different salesperson I realize they have very little knowledge about the products they sell. This may also be the problem with the technicians and service advisors. It's the same with Toyota, Ford, and Dodge. I've waited for this redesign nearly 3 years, and I' don't t have the confidence to drop $65 - $85K on a vehicle they cannot maintain. It's common to have issues with a new redesign,, but with the prices (and markups) they must do a better job testing their products, and educating those who interact with customers. They should buy that truck back and reimburse you for the trips when they failed to perform. I'm keeping my old truck for now.

This is more common than people think a lot of the testing of new vehicles are tested by us the consumers yet we don't get paid for it you pay them because you pay them and get the inconvenience on top of it all. My rule of thumb when it comes to a new design or all new anything wait it out so that they get all the bugs out first.

I went through almost the same situation with my ‘23 AT4 3.0. My updated completed successfully like 3 days after I bought the truck brand new. A few days later, dead battery. Trip to dealer, updated stuff, sent me on my way. Next morning dead battery. Towed to dealership. I was in a loaner for a week till I got my truck back. So I had driven it for like 4 days before it sat at the dealership for over a week. Long story short, I had a bad ground wire in my power seat module that was a parasitic drain on the battery at night, killing the battery overnight. It was fixed and everything has been fine for like a month now. But my confidence took a big hit and I totally feel you when you say you don’t trust the truck now. It’s my first GMC and first diesel.

I was in your shoes way back in 1988 with my newly redesigned bought new 2500 Chevy, 4x4. For starters: I recall when my 4th alternator went south and the serpentine belt came off and whipped the hood causing numerous dents right before my eyes. The 5th one lasted after they changed the main bracket that was cracked causing flex under load stressing the bearing of the alternator.

🍋 Might want to consider filing for a lemon 🍋. If they don't have loaners they should be giving you a rental. I believe GM has to give you something if it's a warranty issue and will take overnight to repair. Service advisors are clueless. I have a 23 Silverado that I bought in June, but the first time I used the heat was in October. I noticed there was no heat on the passenger side. Dealer looked at it and said an actuator on a blend door was not working. Since there was a strike they couldn't get the part. I finally called in mid December and found out the part was in, I guess they forgot about me. The service advisor said it would take 5 hrs. I was ok with dropping it off and using my wife's car. Next day(Friday) around noon they called me and said it's going to take about 12 hrs and it should be done late Monday or early Tuesay. I was pissed but said just get it done. No call Monday or Tuesday. I called late Tuesday afternoon and they said they almost had it apart! I was livid and went off on the service advisor. I told him I would be there in half an hour and would be expecting a loaner truck. They finished it late Thursday. Now the 2 usb ports buy the heater controls don't work. Back to the dealer after the new year!

Very good information about your Duramax diesel. Just bought a 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500 (with the Duramax, LZ0 refresh). Have only had it about a month without any issues. . . I have to applaud your patience with this dealership. At the 2nd visit with the same issue, I would have firmly (but calmly) elevated this to the Service Manager, then General Manager, then Chevrolet, etc. I to paid good money for a new truck and I feel that services after sale is just as important as the sale. If GM doesn't feel this, I'll never buy another car from this company. No bad experiences from my local dealership (or GM) yet. Good luck, you deserve the service you paid for.

You going out of your way and I commend you for keeping your cool. My 2012 Sierra had chronic issues and finally needed an engine rebuild at 30,000 miles. The issue was the Air Fuel Management system shutting down cylinders and not providing oil to them. The truck was never the same afterwards and I ended up trading it in at a loss. Ask yourself with the problems you have now do you think they won’t get worse with age. I wouldn’t be able to trust it even after months with no issues. I would get rid of it at this point, especially with over a month in the shop.

No. Cmon. His only issue was a bad ground wire. The codes and everything are always thrown after battery dies. The grounding issue was fixed…things are fine now. The OTA updates was an issue for many and is being worked on by GM. It is a lot of bullshit to go through, but the. Actual issue is not that big of a deal.

More Nissan that anything funny enough. Ford and GM truck not that often. I've always owned GM and never have a problem other than normal maintenance like brakes tires and fluid changes. That amount of people having issues with newer cars is still a low number compared to the amount sold.

@@35RSkyline really not funny, its piss poor American quality. Any engineer can tell you within seconds which is a better built car inside and out. If you look at the cars history the Japanese built cars far outweigh American built cars. Even though my Toyota was built in Mexico, the quality is flawless, its the way they manage the factories. It’s a systematic issue. American cars are just not up to par with Hondas and Toyotas. I agree it needs tho change but the new cars are garbage. Checked out a Ford Maverick the other day compared to my Tacoma it was utterly pathetic in the comparison of quality.

Man I test drove one of these and fell in love with it but now you have me second guessing whether I should get it or not. Back in 2008 I had a Nissa Xterra that kept having issues and I finally went into the show room where they had potential customers and I very loudly told the girl at the front desk "I need to speak to someone who can help me" and I explained the issue and how they keep me coming back time and time again. The sales manager tried to get me to come back to his office and I said "no lets talk about it here in front of everyone so they can see what a great dealership this is and how great you're going to take care of me for having to keep coming back for this check engine light". He was so pissed his face turned red but after I left that day the issue was resolved and they did give me like $150 to spend on services (like oil changes and stuff). But people look at you like YOU are being a jerk when you do something like that.

I’ll stand by comment I had in a previous video, I think ours and other KZreadrs issues (it’s happening to non-diesels) is the computer they used for the refresh. I think diesel part is fine. When mine broke down it was almost identical to how yours did (not charging, not jumping, not turning off to kill battery, the codes) but mine wouldn’t start for whatever reason. Got it towed and they couldn’t find anything wrong with it. In fact, the tech told me using Spotify crashed the computer. Mine hasn’t acted back up again but the trust has definitely been hurt

They are replacing my Canyon with a 2023 Sierra SLT/Elevation with similar features. So, it's not the engines or diesel, it's GM & their crappie OTA's. Get back to where I can put it into 2W drive, and it’s stuck in 4W-lo. Tried everything in the manual, nothing worked. Called the dealer, and the service technician said try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes. Luckily a nice man had some tools and I disconnected the battery, waited about 30 minutes and it was back in 2W-drive. At least we could drive home. Message said service 4W-drive system. Doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in me. Truck has less than 2,000 miles on it. Will take it to the dealer. Good luck with yours. I am thinking GM, under the current leadership, will fail.

I watched a video from a repair shop where they found that GM uses a soft mesh ground wire. This absorbs water, dirt and salt. It will corrode the wire and loose ground. The ground issue could be related to this poorly designed ground wire. I hope the issues you have been experiencing are resolved. I was thinking of getting full size truck and like the features and look of the Sierra and Silverado. However, I have zero tolerance for reliability issues and have doubts about the engineering and quality of the parts used in these vehicles.

The dealer claimed to find a broken wire in the dash between the radio and HMI but when they patched it, the system is worse and now every system has an error. The update claimed to have a feature update for adaptive cruise which from what 3 other people mentioned we don't have that feature and it seemed to kill the truck. If I manage to get my truck back i'm refusing to install these OTA updates.

Sorry to hear these issues. I had a 2020 silverado with the 3.0L duramax. I had nothing but problems with the check engine light..I ended up unloading the truck and haven't looked back. Really liked the truck but like you said, you lose trust. Props to you for self control. Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I have a 2021 Elevation 3.0 Duramax quad cab X31 4WD for a year ow and no issues at all. I was thinking about trading it for the refreshed one exactly the same config. I'm shocked how more expensive this truck is. I purchased the 2021 for $53.350 + taxes. No markups or addendums in Bakersfield CA. Building exactly the same config for the 2023, the price is $64.500 !!!!!!! I'm shocked with the price jump, can't believe it. I think this is the last time I get a truck.

I feel bad for you. in my State of WV after 3 times of them trying to fix the same problem the State's Attorney General will make GM take it back or replace it, I had to do it on a ATV they made them give my money back. and you're doing the right thing by keeping your cool getting mad dont do any good but still let them know its pissing you off tho Good luck after watching your videos i'm worried about my GMC truck now I had a GMC kept it for 18 years no problems other than a few minor things great truck thats why i bought a new one

GM has been having issues as of late. Not just technical issues but issues with resolving customer issues. ABS and other codes tripped due to low battery voltage. Some brands and dealers provide you a loaner for warranty related issues. Particularly if you bought it there. You're experiencing two issues. One is with the vehicle and the other is with the dealership. The dealership feels some level of helplessness because the manufacturer support isn’t all that great.

True story, when we had a Durango back around 2017 it had a issue w/ the center console, and due to part availability it sat at the dealership for 2 months. I wrote them the longest, harshest, most detailed email I maybe have ever written listing everything from a breakdown of insurance etc per day I wanted compensation for and after they escalated the issue they did give me 2 checks for those 2 full months so car was paid at least. Least you got a new truck now 😉

Ive watched some of your videos now and trying to understand, this is your diesel sierra? Not the 5.3 liter? Another video you have mpg issues with 5.3 liter? Are there any mechanical issues with that 5.3? Watching your videos really made me starting thinking if i even want to go look at this 2023 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 liter. Its gonna be for my business but i hate headaches. I got enough of that. And i totally understand losing faith. Especially when they say they force udpate. What do you think? Would you still have made your purchases knowing what you know now? Thanks for the video.

Thanks for sharing all that's happening with the truck, J. Williams! I'm trying to decide on a new GMC Denali Ultimate with the 3.0 Duramax vs the 6.2. Would be my first diesel, but I plan on towing a travel trailer, and would prefer the lower end torque of a diesel. Sucks to hear everything you're dealing with on a new expensive truck. I had similar issues with my RAM TRX, escalated to corporate and they basically stopped responding so I sold my TRX and need another truck.

I had the same exact problem, I use the road side assistance from GM to jump start the truck, the update killed my battery. Took it to the dealership here in Temple and they say that they had to replace my battery and they completed the update for me. So depending on when you took your truck in, you might have save me time because they already had worked on yours. I'm the opposite of you, I live in Temple but I bought my truck in Austin, I took my truck for service to the dealer in Temple. You might want to take your to Austin since it's closer to you.
