It's hit or miss. The one near my home is awful, Another one is great. I got lucky and scored a BOSE Wave radio for 15.00 in 2019. It's one of my better finds. I'll admit, most of the time, they price Dollar Tree goods for three times as much. I've seen IKEA products sold at Goodwill for more than what's offered for new.

Bad experience with several pairs of pants that I bought but wouldn't you know the 1 pair of pants that I didnt try on wouldn't fit so I took them back not knowing there was a no return policy. Took them back anyway and I got the 5th degree, they inspected the pants like I damaged them or something so while watching her look the pants over I noticed several flaws myself so again they did let me exchange them. The big wigs earn millions from that store and to be treated that way for a store getting donations for outrageous prices, never again.

I work at Goodwill as a cashier & sales floor associate. Employees get a 20% discount on their total purchase. But, we can't "hold items" or buy anything for other people. Employee purchases are tracked by management. Now, Goodwill stores are under video surveillance. If management suspects you've stolen something, you can be fired.

I for one am grateful for the training they give to people who need a break in life.

Yes. But unlike regular retail The idea is not to advertise their stuff. The idea is about providing training & helping to rehabilitate employees learning skills in a work setting. There is always a crowd ready to make purchases at Goodwill. They don't really need to advertise to sell their wares. Their advertisement goes into getting people to donate.

Keep in mind they have to provide a place to sell the item, heat, electricity, employees, insurance, sorting, cleaning, buying shelving and racks and hangers, cleaning supplies, repairs, updates, carpet cleaners every 3 months, floor refinishing every year...there are MASSIVE expenses to opening and operating a retail store!! If it sells for $15-30 online why should they have to sell it for 50 cents?? They could close their retail locations and sell it all online too! They provide a service that earns many people six figure incomes!! Paying $1.99 for something you plan to sell for $15 is a deal!! Let's just say what if? Picture this your teen-age daughter was shy one week of graduating high school but was cut short because she was in an auto accident from a drunk driver. As she recovers she is suffering from flashbacks from the accident, she is on meds but can't sit at home letting life pass her by. That's where Goodwill starts her on a part time basis learning to separate clothing in categories, pants, tops, dresses and so forth. When she gets proficient and learns to trust being around people, she builds her confidence. She is promoted to placing books on the sales floor, clothes on racks according to color, etc. Some wierdo is with a cell phone using video. The employee is unaware that the video is an innocent gesture and not directed at her, but she is alarmed, feeling violated. If that young girl was your daughter, how would you feel?? Too many people get caught up in their little world, rather than seeing the larger picture of the whole world.

Can’t wait to see the art you got. I just picked up a framed Picasso print for $7.99 at my local Goodwill. Saw some velvet pieces in carved wood frames. Hope they will be there next time I go. Or maybe a Frida Kahlo!

The goodwill near me rocks. & I'm not sure why because I don't live in the best area, it's just close to work. I find awesome things everytime and I don't get it. Things you never find. And the employees work their butts off & they're really nice. Not my usual experience with the stores but I'm loving it while it lasts. I usually don't even go to goodwill but after looking for something and finding such great buys...I keep checking back in and I've yet to be disappointed.

I have a pair of those golden Blenko bowls somewhere. I live in WV, so they’re not hard to find here. I had totally forgotten I had them. I moved into a smaller home four years ago and they are somewhere in storage. Luckily, my son owns the storage units, so I don’t have to pay but now I want my bowls thanks to your video! Motivation to clear out that unit! Love your videos. I wish you could have gotten the bowls you wanted.

I lived in Vegas for a year. Shopping at thrift stores was super. People were moving from the Northeast, and Southwest, and there were lot of great clothes. And some very interesting pieces of furniture. If I had stayed there and bought a home, I could have had the some really one of a kind pieces for my house.

Had to do community service for a ticket. Chose to do it at Goodwill here in CA. The store manager is the one that will dictate prices on items. They would get donations from stores and the crazy thing was the store price tag would be on and Goodwill would price it more than it cost in the store and didn’t even remove original retail tag. Makes me want to buy it right?
