I GOT INSIDE A SHERMAN!!!

I've finally done it! I've snaggled my way past the security of a museum and gotten my grubby boots inside of a real Sherman tank! This entire trip to Fort Moore's Armor and Cavalry Collection was chalk full of bucket list items, and I'm so incredibly grateful I got the opportunity to do this and film it for all of you!
I must do my due diligence and claim here (as I do in the video): What you see in this video was made possible in collaboration with the Armor and Cavalry Collection, and is NOT an experience they offer to the public. I was escorted by volunteers the entire way, and had to get permission to post this video from the Curator of the collection himself. DO NOT BUG THE COLLECTION STAFF ABOUT GETTING INSIDE OF VEHICLES OR SEEING THE BACK AREA, IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. It's genuinely a miracle they even let me back there.
Thank you to the volunteers at the Collection for being such awesome hosts for me, and thank you to the Collection itself and all who are involved for this amazing tank heaven. And of course, thank you for watching!

Hey there! Thanks so much for watching!! As I said in the video, this was all filmed in collaboration with the Armor and Cavalry Collection in Fort Moore, and pretty much everything you see here is NOT a normal experience the collection offers to the public. PLEASE DO NOT ask the collection staff for tours of the back area or to get inside of tanks, they won’t let you. Also, small correct when I talked about the game that Soflien was there to represent, it was the game “Steel Aces.” I had misspoke in the video and said “Aces & Armor.” I sincerely apologize for that mixup!
Who let Eta to have unrestricted access to a Sherman?!

I've gone ahead and added these with a few minor corrections: - The T7 was indeed the E5 version - The SU-76 I do believe is an SU-76M (I know very pedantic) - The wading test kit Sherman was an M4A4 - The Dozer Sherman was an M4A3 (76)w HVSS - The GMC I peaked into the turret of was an M18, not an M36

I can tell you from being there that they very much care for the vehicles but they dont have the space for all of the vehicles. They recently just finished a BMP-2 in one of their shops. The issue also lies in parts that im sure is rare to come by for a Matilda
@eta320

I can agree with Keo, I got to meet the curator while I was down there, he definitely cares a lot about the collection and condition of his vehicles, but the Cavalry Collection doesn’t always get the funding they need to work on their tanks. (I recall some volunteers saying they’d been wanting to restore a Panther, but the higher ups won’t approve the acquisition of a new engine because they’d had 2 Panther engines break on them in the past). They’re also a massive collection with far more tanks that I didn’t get to see. They restore a few at a time and the queue is long. Also as Keo said, Matilda II parts are difficult to come by, let alone in the US.

I’m in a tank and you’re not!
Your first coverage was what inspired me to fly to Fort Moore for the April 2024 open weekend from Australia. Cheers.
I've been in an M4A4T once (an M4A4 with an R975 Radial) and I have to say, the Loader has a surprisingly comfortable position.
He’s become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.
I've only ever been in an M60 Patton, I hope one day I can get in an M4 as well. Congrats, can't wait for the video

Lazerpig is punching air right now
As a person who actively obsesses over HVSS, I believe that the Square bulge thing on the Suspension is there, so the Shock obsorber doesn't over compress itself. I'm probably most definitely wrong, but that's my theory... A GAME...
that was incredible to see, love seeing all the really cool stuff they have out there. You must've been having the time of your life in that Sherman.
You should do a tank enthusiast reacts to tanks in “Easy red 2”.its a lesser known indie game that I think portrays combined arms and tank warfare really well.even if you never end up making a video on it I still think you should look into it since it’s a steal at its current price.
I got inside a Leopard 1 after i saw my first Tiger 1. My life is now complete.

Average fan: Hey Eta, can I do what you do and see rare tanks? Eta: No, because you are not special.
I forget that after Aberdeen Proving Grounds shut its armor museum, most to all of the armor they had there moved to Fort Moore, and it's out of public eyes.
i swear to God, some day, maybe in 60 years, i will buy a Sherman, the version doens't matter, i just want to be an old lad with an Sherman.
Considering your steel crew game play. Never let him get in combat in one. You will lose both Eta320 and the sherman!
I came here for the look of an inside of a Sherman.
I do hope that more of these vehicles get some form of restoration in the following years, but sadly I think these are going to be lost to time eventually since the museum is on a military base and won't get consistent public donations like Bovington and Kubinka.
I bet you got steel crew vr flashbacks lol

How about you get into making the IS-7 video?!?!?!
No way I got into a Sherman before Eta did lol, that’s crazy
We are so up
As a 5ft 2 piece of shit, I would love to be in a Sherman, but I would probably be stuck in it so I should probably sit in a Stuart instead.
It’s gonna be right after my birthday yippee
Again you should really go to the Museum of the American GI in College Station Tx, they have the original prototype of a Vietnam era bridge layer (I don’t remember the name) and a bunch of other cool tanks, and during our big two events each year you can ride in some of the tanks and see them in action
You luck lucky boi
maybe the exhaust blowing out on the tracks was to combat ice/snow buildup. the m5 stewart with the fording equipment with the long skirts and the track cleats kind looks like the water propulsion system they came up with for the m113. the action of the tracks through the tunnel formed by the skirts provided propulsion while floating. ill bet this is where they came up with that. awesome video! you are a lucky guy!
homeless Eta goes hard tho
Huh huh huh… Now…. This is Epic!
On the stuart with deep water fording equipment, i just wanted to point out that the modified track pads look very similar to the ones on the LVT. The little scoops on it were used to propel the LVT in the water by basically doggy paddling with the motion of the track moving. So i wonder if that stuart was using a similar amphibious propulsion method?

Its the Panzer IV 'Hydrostat' a special variant that was built in 1944. It used a very wacky hydraulic transmission system. I have a book somewhere that explains how it works but its very very complex. It's amazing because only one was ever made, and it's down in Ft. Moore and I got to see it!
you met tank mom? lucky
Sherman is a surname. If you weren't talking about a tank the title would sound very odd.

At 17:46, is that the Panther that was found in the German basement?
@mattsharkey311
6 күн бұрын
No, that panther is still property of the German government as far as I know and he kept on a German military base, but I’m not completely certain which one. The panther that is in the back lot of the Armor And Cavalry Collection, Fort, Moore, Georgia disassembled in the 1980s and pilfered for parts to repair other other Panthers and is in poor condition
