In a report released in 2021, the World Economic Forum identified the fashion industry as one of the world's most polluting industries, accounting for 5% of total global emissions. That's very terrifying when you consider the world's current state, with disasters like wildfires and tsunamis becoming common occurrences. So, what should you do when faced with the need to update your wardrobe? Secondhand and vintage clothing. It is the most sustainable choice out of all of them.
Every year, the fashion sector generates around 92 million tons of garbage. Whether it's business or consumer waste, there are a lot of clothes in perfect condition ending up in the landfill. Because we operate through a circular economy model, it is important for us to try and reduce the number of clothes that are not continuing their long life cycle, by being thrown out into the landfill instead of finding a second home or being donated to those in need.
Gikomba market is the biggest open air market in Kenya. It was established in the 1960s . It specializes in mitumba, or second hand clothes, but also sells fresh fruit, vegetables, meat as well as local baskets and household items. The market is open throughout the week but is especially lively on Saturday.

Thank you ☺️☺️, I will plan and definitely come 🏝. I really thought that because the clothes always pass through Mombassa first. It should even be cheaper and they’d be more variety, because there’s no cost of transportation. Do you know what day’s the bails are opened?

The white bag is my favourite. I’ve worn it 4 times already. Yeeees we can go. I feel like in a month or so, there’s going to be lots of “summer clothes” because they are in a different season up north
