I Got A 5 Ton Military Truck For My Ghost Town!

There was a big surprise this week at Cerro Gordo. What started off as a casual Friday turned into a historic day thanks to a surprise visit from Heavy D and Diesel Dave. They dropped off a military 5-ton truck that is going to be huge for moving materials for the town. We also ended up going 900 ft down into the Union Mine, which also came with all sorts of surprises!

@@hoosierpatriot2280 There's a lot more to patriotism than just signing up to the forces. There are plenty who did the same but now vote against the best interest of their country repeatedly, kicking down instead of up. Patriotism is a lifelong endeavor and not just one where you serve and you're done. That's the wrong attitude. I also just watched your recent video and it's clear you don't understand the first amendment (don't even try to argue, you've already proven it with your recent video), and you listen to propaganda rather than fact-check. The 1st amendment doen't prevent a private company from limiting the content placed on their own system. This isn't "Tyranny". Using that word in this context is childish. KZread is removing vaccine disinformation, because it has encouraged millions to perpetuate the deaths of Americans instead of recognizing they are part of a community responsible for the health and wellbeing of the whole. As for the rest of the videoo, best wishes with your health, and thank you for your PRIOR service.

Brent, love what you are doing with the town and your videos are a lot of fun to watch. I used to run similar 5 and 10 ton trucks up and down mountain passes and one tip so you can stay safe and stop in an emergency is to ONLY use the service brakes for stopping. Always use the engine and gearing to maintain your speed when descending. If you've got a Jake brake or exhaust brake you can decent faster but always descend slow enough to gear down to whatever gear is needed to control the descend speed. Without a Jake or exhaust brake you probably need to use one or two gears lower when descending compared to climbing. This is normal with those old 5 and 10 ton trucks. If the engine rpm starts climbing and pushing slightly past redline, hit the service brakes and drop down a gear (or more if you are in a way too high range). It won't hurt the engine to have it screaming close to redline all the way down the mountain. BTW redline is probably somewhere around 2500 rpm for that truck. It is always safer to descend in a lower gear than required (and lower speed) and the more weight you are hauling, the lower the gear/lower speed you need to use. If you do this you'll always be able to come to a stop in an emergency. If you use the service brakes to descend you'll ALMOST CERTAINLY experience an out of control run away truck if you ever try to stop while descending a mountain grade. It might seem like things are under control if using the service brakes to descend, but because the brakes are already hot, if you try to actually stop they will rapidly overheat and instead the truck will take off down the mountain with no way to slow it down. Also on an old farm I used to work 40 years ago, we had a 100 year old crane system that used wood on wood for linear bearings (similar to your elevator). We used to always keep a bucket of grease and a paintbrush with us to lube up the wooden slides. You'll be amazed how much better greased up wood slides on wood. Hope this helps. Good luck with your adventures!

This channel captures history that people are trying to erase. The people and adventures are worth watching a commercial, because this is people helping other people because they feel the passion for this place, and have made it a collective effort that we can help out by watching commercials. But please Brent listen to me do something to that air cleaner housing, its intake is right up and that can suck rain and snow very easily and will result to damage the engine, I am sure it should have a hat or something like a chimney would have. Please take care if. Cheers.

Brent, I've been watching for a while. I think we both know its Blue Jeans that are your truest passion. And in particular that sweet sweet Levi Strauss. I've seen the love of blue jeans like you have only once before in my life, in 1986 East Germany, I used to smuggle them past Check Point Charley in my Real Ghostbusters lunch pale while in the 2nd grade. It was a great gig. No one ever suspected me, I also took a lot of Milli Vinilli Cassettes which were way more dangerous(those would get you ☠ in the old soviet block). Sorry I'm an idiot. Happy Saturday man.

What ever he makes he puts it back into the town to make it better. That is a big heart moment. None of these guys began the day thinking about how much money they need to make from filming. The help was from friendly wholesome friendships. Its not always about the money.
