Holy smokes, Noro yarn is some high-end stuff. Even $25 for 18 skeins was a steal. Where I live, Kureyon is usually 10€ for one 50g skein. Nice find!

That's a great gift! Concerning the Noro, it's a roving style yarn so not plied. Roving does naturally go from thick to thin. Even the acrylic roving like red heart unforgettable goes from thick to thin. That's one reason it breaks easily and the fact that it's wool. Once it's worked up, it's strong. You could always hold it with another yarn to provide strength. Because it was free, I wouldn't charge more than $10. But that's me.

I’ve never worked with Noro yarn before personally but I do know that natural fiber yarns can oxidize and become brittle over time. Here in denmark noro yarn is very expensive, about 20 dollars pr skein. When you are crochet ore kniitting with the yarn you start on a skein, and if it ends witg a purple color, you shal start the next skein witg purple color, then the color Will be so beautiful, so I it ends with a color, then start with the same color. You have to arrange the skeins so they wil start and end in the rigth order.

Your sweater is gorgeous! I guessed 75, so I was short. Roving yarn is an acquired taste. I think it's all about the spinning process. I was wondering how many yards were in a skein, and then you mentioned the meters. I like to know the price by the yard, so I know if I'm overpaying. That's sad it breaks so easily. I do a strength test in the store before I buy yarn, but there's no way to know if you order it.

AWESOME Haul!! so the "Banana Silk Yarn" is not naturally died from the banana leaf... its actually harvested from the bark (rotted outer layer) of a banana tree and broken down into pulp to make into yarn! the noro is a roving syle yarn where its thicker in some parts and thinner in others, also it seems the yarn is very old! it shouldnt break that easily, maybe your aunt had it for a very long time and who she bought it from probably did as well. just because something is on EBAY dosent make it a good deal, i found a furls odessy hook for $300!

We cannot have feral yarn running through the streets!! Noro is definitely an acquired taste. I've only done one skein of Noro and it had vegetable matter in it. And it's very loosely spun. I'd charge $30 per if I were you. That's $10 for the yarn and $20 an hour for your labor.

For the Noro you can make a blanket and use all the different colors by alternating. I made a crochet unending granny square blanket with mine, it was beautiful and easy to make and you stop when you run out of yarn. You can make a sweater out of the yarn don’t worry about the breaking, it holds as a garment. That is the nature of a single spun yarn. The thick and thin quality is also not a flaw, just a style of spinning.
