when i was a young kid, i went on a hike with my parents once, and i found this large pit that had a bunch of garter snakes. I had literally no fear as a child (which nearly got me killed several times) so i jumped down in the pit to get a closer look. It was so cool to see all the snakes slithering around, and a few of them were twisting around like twizzlers, and i was just enamoured! i even picked one up to scare my mom with it, cause i was such a nice child like that :P it wasn't until like a couple years ago that i learned that garter snakes gather in large groups like that to mate, and i just so happen to stand in the middle of a snake orgy

Omg I did the same thing as a kid but it was with pit vipers and when I ran back to my parents to show them the 2 pit vipers I had caught the look of horror on their faces told me everything lol they just freaked out and yelled at me to drop them. I had no idea the danger I was in and just calmly brought them back to their orgy lmao 😂

I was also a late bloomer when it came to most adult and 'mature' conversations/concepts. I met my bestfriend when I was 17 (I'm female) and he was 18. Some of his favorite moments was learning how naïve I was. One time we were in some shop, and I saw this really pretty book with ornate embroidery on the cover and I turned to show him. It went as follows: Me: This book looks really nice and pretty! I think I might get it! Him: That's the Kama Sutra, it's a book about sex Me: Silently puts book back on shelf, and wipes my hands on my pants as though they were somehow contaminated. Good times.

Can I give you a virtual hug? That was adorable! :D :P And here I was in 11th Grade, giving a 1 hr presentation on Kama Sutra with my friend, and how it was misrepresented in pop culture and media. If you are interested, essentially, we explained that only ~10% (I think it was 13%) book deals directly with sex, and rest is about how to live a good life. Of course, westerners took one look at that, and is the case with my most of my culture, misrepresented it as "HeHe! SaCrEd InDiAn SeX BoOk! ThEy aRe PeRvEtS!!!!" and now here we are today. :(

When I was younger, I genuinely believed that whenever I was watching a show or a movie of some sort. The actors or the voice overs were doing their filming at the exact same time I was watching it. Like when I was watching a show, the actors would literally be voicing things over and acting at the exact moment of the show while I watching it. It wasn’t until fourth grade when I realized that everything I watched was already pre-recorded and just put in.

Let's not forget that, despite her voice or her mannerisms, Wolfy is still an adult. I'm a little worried about if Mel will show some of the cursed things she found on Etsy, like breast milk flavored toothpicks (and other breast milk commodities) or anything much, MUCH worse. Also, one of my most cursed moments was pretty recent, when I already have the know-how and before my sister got married. Both my sisters slept in our living room, and she slept on a loveseat and on a TV tray was, and I'll say this without being too explicit, it was small, it has a button on one end of it, and when you push said button, this thing buzzes, if you push it again, it buzzes faster, and there are three speeds. I immediately dropped it and ran to wash my hands.

I can relate to your stories. My parents didn't give me a birds and the bees talk either. They wanted to preserve my innocence. My friends had to explain it to me later and it was in the most embarrassing way back when I was 14. I'm a huge bookworm and whenever I saw a new movie come out, I knew that, 6/10 times, the movie was based on a book, so I'd go and read it and later see the movie to compare the differences. My close friends knew about my trend and would ask me about my plans as sometimes they've read the book already and would tell me if it was worth it or not. At the time, I saw a lot of trailers for one particular movie, "50 Shades of Gray." If you know what it is, you already know where this is going. When I brought it up, my best friend's face went red and everyone else looked at me like I was insane. They had to sit me down and explain to me what it was and once I learned what I probably should've been told before, I quickly changed my mind on that plan. Even after that though, my friends have always insisted that I'm the innocent one. I totally get the whole not realizing until years later thing. I've felt that way a lot with shows I saw as a kid. I related so much more as an adult when I understood things better. I also had a LOT more questions in some situations. The most innocent realization I had was when I realized what I had felt for a friend back in the day was actual romantic feelings instead of what I thought it was, which was fear. In reality, I think it was a mix of both.

at the age of 12 my family and I lived in the city, I was a curious child (little too curious sometimes). One day I was in the kitchen getting a fruit roll up, my favorite childhood snack. When I noticed the boombox sitting on the counter plugged in and playing music, enchanted by the music I got closer and saw my dads wire cutters from work. Being the genius I thought I was I knew what these were for and I wanted to be just like dad. So I picked them up and cut the boombox power cord, needless to say sparks flew from the wire and scared me. I went running into the front room yelling "FIRE, FIRE". My dad went to check it out as my mom calmed me down, I heard a slap sound come from the kitchen and saw my dad come back laughing. He held up the wire cutters but the thin part of the blade was melted, no fire, parents thought it was to funny to punish me.

When I was a kid, one of my neighbors was throwing away their daughter's toys since she was moving out to college. What we found were these Barbie dolls along with some clothes, car, and little shop set, so I gave them to my sisters. The other thing that was thrown was the original Game Boy along with 'Kirby's Pinball Land' game. It was awesome and I felt like the luckiest kid! The downside was that the Game Boy was missing the battery shell case, so instead I had to tape it to prevent the batteries from falling out, but I didn't mind at all! 😁

I have a little embarassing story like that. I was around 8 or 9 at the time and I lived with my parents and my younger sister in a two bedroom apartament (one was my parents' room and the other one was mine and my sister's). The parents' room had the only TV, so me and sis would often spend time chilling on the couch watching some cartoons. One day mom brought us home from school and went straight to the kitchen to cook dinner for us, while I went to play my dolls on the couch (bc it also had this super cool shelf thing in the corner and I loved using it as a dollhouse). There was some wird beige thing sitting there. When I came closer I poked it and it was kinda like jelly but not smooth. I just thought "lol gross" and at that moment my mom came into the room and saw me looking at this weird thing. She quickly snatched it from the shelf and put it in the closet looking embarassed. When I ask what it was she said something like "it's an adult thing", but I didn't know what that meant yet. To this day I have no idea what that thing was and I still think it's gross, but now I realise why mom was embarassed XD

This story was from when I was 15 years old. One weekend, I was at home with my family. My siblings were in the big bathtub, and I’m minding my own business while my parents were with them. As I opened the little cupboard in the playroom, something caught my eye. It looked like a pink pen, but it didn’t have that ink pointer. What it did have were a few studded diamonds and a white button on the top. I press the button, and it felt funny in my hand. It finally stopped buzzing after a few pushes. Confused, I went to the bathroom where everyone else was. Nervously, I whispered to my dad, “Hey, Dad. Can you please tell me what this is?” The moment I showed him what I found, he immediately snatched it from my hand. It didn’t take me long to realize what it was, however. Though I know what it was, I can’t tell you because of the KZread regulations. You guys might already know at this point.

Well now that you mention it, I do remember one time like that. As a kid growing up in the country, I used to explore the wooded areas around where we lived and there was this old house that used to have people living there but they had moved & the house became dilapidated. One day I'm exploring the abandoned place and as I'm leaving out the front door, I open it to see two people standing there (one man, one woman, probably teens I think) in shock because they were about to open it too. We were all shocked to see each other there because we didn't know each other. I ran away. I told my dad what happened and he had told me that they were probably there just the f***. I knew about the birds and the bees but it didn't fully contemplate it until later when I became more active as a young adult.

when I was maybe 10 or 11, I was on an airplane, INTENTLY focused on my pokemon game. My older sister was sitting in the seat behind me. She tapped me on the shoulder, (I still don't actually know what she wanted) and it startled me so badly that I screamed HEY!!!!!! as loud as I possibly could. For about a minute I was frozen, eyes wide open, in disbelief that such a sound had come out of my mouth. Then my sister very quietly whispered "Did you just shriek at the top of your lungs?" All I could do was silently nod in mortification.

This story is from my middle school bio teacher. He told us that one time when he was little and was wandering around his parents' bedroom, he found a box of rubbers and immediately thought to himself:" Damn, these balloons have not only beautiful colors but also a pleasant smell".He went on to share the box with his homies and before his parents knew what was going on,the bois took the rubbers out before blowing them like balloons and inhaling the amazing odor as adults nearby stared confusedly.

I was a very naive kid, mostly just because I never thought much deeper than I thought was needed. Everyone kinda just assumed I knew what sex was when I was really only given the period talk. Got told the egg gets fertilized but not what that actually meant. Didn't realize what sex actually was until I was 13 and found Fma yaoi fanfiction. Also did not realize that my aunt and the friend she lived with for over 20 years, who she shared a bed with, and described their relationship as "like sisters" were really a couple until I was a teenager and thought about it for more than 5 minutes.

This is so relatable 😂 especially the last one. I was a bit of a sheltered kid so when I hit middle school it was a big shock 😂. I often got made fun of for not knowing dirty words and the kids would ask me if I knew dirty words they would say to me. One time they asked me in class if I knew what p**n was. And it was a loud room so I thought they said CORN. I replied,” yeah it’s a vegetable.” They did not let me live it down for the rest of the year 🥲

I find the story of me first learning how to tie a bow in the bathtub pretty embarassing ._. I was simply tying a broken bath sponge's carrying string onto one of my old bath toys, and decided I wanted it to be a fancy kind of knot, like those bows you put on a christmas present. Instead I ended up tying a perfect bow o.o. I was SO surprised and instantly called for my mom to come see it, now I use that same method to tie my shoelaces. :)

I remember when I was younger, I as in the tub and I found my mom’s hair removal cream and I didn’t understand that it would burn if I had it on my skin for too long. I though it was like normal soap and would add bubbles. My mom luckily came in the bathroom before it was too late and she smelled it and told me to get out and get in the shower instead. She explained really quickly what it was and I went into the shower as soon as I heard it was dangerous. I also remember when I was like 5, I saw some pads in the bathroom and I decided to take one out and put it on the sink as if it was a child and my cousin would put it back in the package of pads and I would take one out again and it would just go like that over and over again 😅

I remember a time in my life where I didn't understand how getting older worked. I have a distinct memory of being really little and wrestling with my cousin at the beach. I was three and my cousin was four. He was bigger and stronger than me. I couldn't wait until my birthday when I would be four and then he wouldn't push me around. The next year at the beach, I proudly proclaimed myself to be four and it turned out that he had become five... which for some reason was a shock to me.

I recall once as a young child ( around 4 or 5) I was in the grocery store with my mother and we had stopped over at the pharmacy to pick up some medication or something and i remember seeing these boxes of really pretty gold wrapped 'candies' on the shelf and begging my mother to buy them for me. She of course told me "no", which only got me asking harder. Making the line of adults snicker. She eventually told me they were not candy and not for kids and that she would explain later, hoping I would forget about it and i basically demanded an explanation the moment we got out to the car. I can't recall what her explanation was at the time or even if she ever gave me one but it ended up being those pretty golden wrapped 'candies' were a box of condoms.

I'm sure I"m gonna regret this one, but, here goes. Growing up, I would be waking up Super early every morningm like 5am early, before school to watch Sailor Moon. I don't know why I was facinated by it, but I was always up and ready to watch it. Was also in Martial Arts and Boy Scouts with the mentality of "I'mma be a Hero". Both my parents were working early morning jobs that had them out of the house by 6 at the latest, so I would take the bus to school with my sister. One Day, an episode came on where one of the main heroines was in a big pinch, defeated and kidnapped to the bad guy's stronghold. Something had snapped/clicked in my head to say "I'mma go save her". So I stopped getting ready to wait for the bus, packed up camping supplies, some Martial Arts Gear, and tried to walk to town to the library to be looking up where their town was for me to freaking Hike there, FIND teh big baddie boss, and somehow FIGHT THE MAGICAL BEINGS AND SAVE THE SAID HEROINE!!!! My parents were called by both my neighbors when they saw me hiking up the road and the school when I wasn't accounted for. They searched all over the place to find me till my dad saw me exiting the library to start heading to Japan...............not sure how I thought it was close by or within hiking/backpacking distance. I was in so much trouble, I didn't watch any tv for a month. This is absolutely my most cursed childish moment, as it's become an embarrassment bane of my existance ever time I'm reminded of it.
