I Found NYC’s Largest Loft… But Nobody’s Renting It

This giant loft is in an old factory building, and its probably the coolest apartment in New York City.

Best of both worlds: Rent a loft in the first, less expensive, building, and make a friend in the more modern building so you can access the amenities. 😁

My daughter lives in a renovated factory in Indianapolis, a 20 minute walk from downtown. She pays 1350 for a huge one bedroom with a full kitchen with bar sitting and has a huge walk-in closet. Her favorite feature, the underground secure parking that she only pays $100 a month for. I'd rather live in renovated buildings like this full of light, than a closet just to be closer.

Yeah in Indianapolis, say less lmao!! I fell asleep midway through your 2nd sentence thinking how bored she is. And I love Indy - that's my Momma's hometown, but she is overpaying by Indy Standards. She could live over by the fairgrounds in a bigger place for about 300-500 less. And still be 20 minutes from NOTHING aka downtown Indianapolis lol. Comparing Indy prices to NYC or any town folks actually go to for fun is some "Im from a small ass town in middle America" nonsense talk. Two different animals

@@JimBrownskiagreed not apples to apples but don’t have to be so harsh. I live in Birmingham, AL and pay $1309 for one bedroom with 920sq feet sitting over a small lake that I can see from my bedroom/bed and living area through floor to ceiling windows. Birmingham is a lot smaller than both and rent is just crazy everywhere these days. We have a putting green, benches/mini lake, multiple grilling sections, a pool and hot tub that sits over the lake, decent gym equipment, paddle boats for the lake, tennis courts, and walking trail around lake and in back of property. I’ve been here 5 years… when I first moved in I got a deal and was paying $750. I make 6 figures which is a lot for a single female in Alabama and I could buy a house but I travel too much for work and pleasure to want to keep up with a house and yard and it’s worth it to me to be able to call my maintenance guys just when my ice maker breaks or I want my air filter changed 💁🏼‍♀️

@@GalaxyFluke it is worth it to buy… IF you plan on living in that dry town ( be honest - Indianapolis is Manhattan compared to B’ham !) for a long time. You just pojnted out how your rent has doubled in 5 years and you are getting no equity. You have now excuse not to own making six figures in a boring Market where you can still buy a house or condo for under 300k. 1309 would only get you one bedroom in the projects of the Suburbs in DC- but luckily I bought in 2016 and refied when the rates were low in 21! You get no equity renting- buy somewhere dear- stop making your landlord rich. Hell you could have bought a downtown condo for less than 200k 5 years ago there!

@@willkirk9555 New York isn’t on my best places to live lol. It’s not on anyone’s list except for struggling actors/comics and bankers. So anywhere besides NYC is better than NYC lol. Boston, DC, Tampa, Austin Tx , Nashville , Chicago, Denver, San Diego , Houston, Charlotte NC, Raleigh and Durham NC, Asheville NC, Madison Wis, Kansas City. Oh and Portland Oregon. Miami, LA, DC,( my hometown), Seattle, Boston, and the San Francisco Bay Area are all super expensive but nice. But for best value ? Philadelphia easy! Only 2hrs by train from NYC or DC. Great food, very good public transportation by American standards, and waaaaaaay cheaper rent and homes than their nearby neighbors. I also really really love Chicago, it’s all the fun of NYC, just colder. Plus you can go from downtown to the beach in less than 10 minutes in the summer lol. State wise? North Carolina wins in a rout. Still affordable for now too! I mentioned my 3 faves there and each is awesome.

Best lofts I have seen ever. Units 2 & 4 are the winners for me because I would be able to stand up in the lofted spaces. Not too concerned about not having a dishwasher as I wash my dishes by hand as a single guy. And I don’t generate much in the way of dirty dishes either. Don’t need the amenities of the second building, the first building has just the right amount for me. Yeah, all around great units today.

The 2nd with the walk-in vault was definitely quirky. 1-4 were pretty basic but still nice. & so much room in each!!! Just not sure about the gas heat units. Probably put a carbon monoxide detector in each room for that reason

LOL! The Landlord didn't put too much money into these renovations! The first basement unit at $2850/month was only some gray and white paint, a bookcase from Ikea, a refurbished stove and fridge, and a few leftover cabinets from the other units! LOL! But ya know... I could work with it were it not for that loft space. If one cannot fully stand upright in a space then it's just aggravation, IMHO. However, it is a good space for the price. The second first floor unit at $3550/month was much better, and it's my favorite because those wood floors, exposed brick, and that safe, hooked me! (Loved the Mother-in-law jokes and it looked as if a twin bed would fit). The two bedroom (chop, chop, chop!) at $3550, month with the half window...no. That fourth unit at $3550/month is a much better option because of the diversity of space and what one could do with it. Also, I loved the isolated kitchen, those cabinets, and those wood floors! But, for $300/month more I would consider the last unit because of the amenities and balcony.

#1 has tons of space, but I'd hit my head in the loft. #2 is bigger and more finished, and except for the pipe the headroom in the loft is quite adequate, which explains the higher price. #3 could be shared, making the per-person price affordable for many. #4 has the pipe-headroom problem, but it has tons of storage and a bigger, separate kitchen. #5 is the most expensive and has nice finishes, and it's in a building with many amenities, so for a two-bedroom (plus loft) you get the most for your money.

The amenities of building 2are great, but building one- every one of those apartments was fabulous!

That niegborhood has so much character…. Reminds me of Portland Oregon before the pyros, junkies and homeless destroyed the city.

The previous video was interesting information about renting in New York City. The kitchens in 2 of thunits's would be totally doable for me because I already have a small kitchen area. My oven is nice and the refrigerator is new, actually. The sink isn't bad, big .But my cabinets are terrible. It's not in great condition or paint. So I would love those kitchens.

Second building has great amenities, but the first building has great charm. I'd definitely live in the first building.

I LOVE loft apartments so any of them would suit me. Each one was better than the previous one but I'm partial to #4 which felt like it had the most character. But where's the bathroom??? In general I think the quirkiness of the older converted building was nicer despite the amenities of the modern building.

Hey Jordan, my wife and I are wondering about moving to NY from San Francisco and maybe you have suggestions on where we should look to live? I'm a techie and she's a new graduate so very flexible budgets, ofc the cheaper options are better for now :)

I left NJ and live in NC we pay 1080 for a 3br 1.5 bath, in texas we had a 3br 2bath for 1750 in a full house with a backyard. I can never move back home, the prices there are insane. Move down south.
