I did a rocky trek like that about 10 or 12 years ago to reach a lighthouse... not even for a cache, just to take photos! I'm going to hit 5000 on my Route 66 to GeoWoodstock road trip.

I don’t understand what you mean. Once you find a geocache you hide is back for the next person. I have been geocaching for 16 years.
