I wanna know where people are finding magic cards. I frequent three different goodwills and have not found a single common.

I almost never find magic gathering cards at the Goodwill store. So this was actually a first for me. When I find Magic the gathering cards in these type of grab bags, it’s usually at savers/value Village.

Goodwill is 100% dependent upon who donates. Most people know MTG cards have a value not worth donating, even if they don't know how much they're worth, if anything.

Found some cards a month ago at my local goodwill for 20 bucks. Had a demonic tutor and snuff out in it. Pretty nice 👍

​@@MattcasterMageSame. Zilch from GW. But do have good luck at VV. One time in summer of 2021 I found a TON at a Toronto area VV. They had about 15-20 white sprtscard boxes in various sizes of Magic & Pokémon. Got about 10 of the Magic ones. Most of it ended up being a lot of bulk from Double Masters. But I still made out ok. Lots of full art lands from it. As well as some decent commons, uncommons & foils that when scanned, came up at about $1-3 each.

My best random buy was a "Mystery Box" longbox my first LGS sold for $6 back in 2011. It had a bunch of commons/uncommons/rares from all over MTG's history, including a ton of old goblin cards (King, Matron, Chieftain etc.) that I would eventually use to build a Krenko EDH out of, still one of my favorite decks, and still running many of those old cards I bought from a random longbox in 2011.

The first ”MtG product” I bought was a so called Kilo Box for 6 euros. It included one kilo’s worth of various commons, uncommons and occasional rares. Most of the cards were of no special value but some of them were so useful, that I still own and use them. : ) It was a fine way to learn to play magic and get some sense of dckbuilding and what sort of cards/mechanics I liked. Besides, I wasn’t the only one in my friend group who owned a Kilo Box. A short while later I bought Shadows over Innistrad Gift Box. It was a nice way to store my collection plus included some boosters.

Still nice to watch a treasure hunt. You never know if Mom gave away the Mox!!

My best purchase came like 6 or 7 years ago from a trailer park in an area of town locally called “Gunspoint” instead of Greenspoint. Lol. Paid like $140 I want to say and probably made 3K off selling singles. I still remember unloading a Zendikar playset of Goblin Guides from that purchase for $95 shipped well before the reprints. It’s crazy that that card is like a dollar now.

Greenspoint in Houston? I grew up a rich white kid in Memorial but would venture into Greenspoint Mall to buy Jordans and Air Force 1s way before it was mainstream. I felt like a badass haha

I watch these videos to live vicariously through Mattcaster. We don’t have Goodwill or really the equivalent here in England. I always trawl through Charity shops but nothing ever turns up. 🤷🏼‍♂️

because the used market has already been scavenged by investors and collectors alike. there's nothing left because some 350lb+ neckbeard has already plundered it, it's pathetic.

I tend to have pretty nuts luck with random lots. I pulled a 6th edition Vampiric Tutor from a 10 dollar card lot from mercari before. Wish you luck for your next video!

If you still have any of those cards, I’d be willing to buy some. I saw some insects I need. Also anything with insect, full, art swamps and forests too. To be honest, I would rather buy them from you than some store online.

Found 2 long boxes about 4 years ago, paid $20 for them, and pulled around $500 in value from it. My first eBay buy i picked up someones collection for about $500 and it was amazing. Liliana of the Veil, foil snapcaster, etc... Those were my only good "lot" buys. Since then I have broken even on most, got scammed a couple times (thankfully ebay had my back), and have mostly given up on any lot when I can't go through it. Goodluck Matt! My garage sale is better. Lots of cards that I don’t want but has value for players. I’m throwing foils as well. Honestly, this is so depressing. But you are fun and pleasant to watch cause you make it sound and look interesting even for a bad haul. 👍🏻👍🏻

Best random buy I had was a 17 lb lot I managed to snap up off of ebay for around 170. A gamble but I saw only a few old cards exposed. Turns out it had only pre-Invasion cards and some real heavy hitters including a force of will, dakkon blackblade, oppression, volrath's stronghold, mana vault and personal tutor. I think the total of >$1 was around 1100. Honestly, though I started playing in invasion but absolutely loved the rath and urza saga artwork so I nearly got full playsets of all of the commons and a good chunk of uncommons and bulk rares from those sets as well. Great memory

This is way better then gambling. Also you end up with something the kids can play with after Pokemon.

Great vid Resale throwaway cards as starter decks.

My best random Jackpot find was at a pawn shop. I needed a weed whacker for yard work, while my husband went to get a weed whacker i stopped to browse the games and im not kidding: Found a 300$ Gba game for 8$

Good will sorta through the cards already and auctions high value items separately.

Glad you like them! I used to buy so many collections on eBay, but there isn’t much for me to grab now in Canada.

I bought a 20.00 ziplock of cards. 160.00 card in it. Was a fun find.

Does America not have markets where people chuck up there old stuff or is it all companies holding the market

I think you need to use the CAD pricing as there were many over the dollar, and you spent 60 CAD so maybe get closer to the value back

My best random buy was maybe a 2 months ago 80NZD for 3 massive container boxes all full with cards and differnt product. Got maybe 600-700 NZD worth of cards

My best random buy was a bundle box full of cards I bought at a flea market in L.A in spring of 2022. Got it for $50 U.S. Ended up with over $1500 worth of cards including 3 Lily of the Veil (before they tanked in value), a showcase Horizon Canopy, a few khans fetchlands, a few RtR shocklands etc. Second best random buy was a 700 count white box from Valu Village about 12yrs ago. It had a Taiga & a Maze of Ith (from the Dark) as the hits in the box

Idk like how ppl who dont even play the game, now keep the cards, cause they know they might be worth money

So I used to do a lot of random buy collecting. The best random buy I ever did was a $25 backpack and inside it I found about $110 of value. I also did a buy where I paid 60 and got like $220 back. It was amazing. Mostly Facebook marketplace

Instead of random buys, I prefer to hunt poorly worded ebay listings and have won many lots for way under their buylist values. I keep what I want and buylist the rest, so I am basically getting paid to get cards I want lol

if they are packed like that, they picked thru it and re packed it. The people at goodwill got smart to tcg's lol

Believe it or not, right around my birthday one year I went in a pawnshop and they had a random ziplock of cards for 10$. (11$ after tax) I got it, and was shocked when I found a revised og two color land

My best buy was about 13 years ago. Bought a magic card lot from a garage sale for 100 dollars. all the cards were Alpha to Legends. Full power set, several og duals, multiple Tabernacles, moats etc. Sold 70% of it to 401 games over the course of 2 years and payed for 2 years of college and 4 years of uni. I still have a playset of beta underground seas (My retirement fund haha) I also returned to the owner of the garage sale a month later and gave them 2k cash. was the least i could do.

Goliath paladin is a buck.

Glad you don't make the cards if you think a 6/6 with trample for 4{GG} is mythic worthy lol
