When my Grandmother passed, I received the music that was found in her piano bench. I have so much joy playing the early 1900's music and thinking of what a wonderful person she was. I am sure the owner of this sheet music cabinet will have the same pleasure from this beautiful piece of furniture. Have a beautiful Christmas with your family.

I’d love a little cabinet like that as a file cabinet! So cure! Well done Trena!
Beautiful job, as usual, Trena. I'm a classical musician and I have NEVER seen a music cabinet of that particular design. It's a very sweet, practical and relatively compact piece of furniture. It could easily be stored in the nook or corner of a small music studio or den. I love it! You can't go wrong with a deep, rich, luxurious mahogany finish. After all, The Bombay Company created a whole business model around that look. Anyway, I glad to seeing you settling in to your new (old) digs in Saskatoon. As I mentioned before, Regina/Saskatoon are my old stomping grounds and I know the area and the people well. Of course, you fit right in. You have a bit of that Western hospitality built into your genes. Nice to see your dad getting his toes wet again, too.

It is lovely watching you working with your dad again. What a beautiful job you have done on this Music storage cabinet. I’m sure she would love to receive the music back if it has come from her family. Those things are so precious. Once again, your talent shines through and it is a pleasure watching you work.

That print they had on the wood sure had me fooled
Memories. Back in the 80s I helped a friend who did furniture restoration/small custom work. It is amazing how much abuse and damage can be undone on well built solid wood furniture. The one sad note was that some repeat customers subjected the redone items to the same abuse. The reference to Goudey stains also brought memories. In the 70s I crewed on an older wood racing yacht in Toronto. One of the owners was a principal in Goudey’s. Amongst other things he made up canned heat for the little gimbal “stove” we had. We called the stuff “Jacko” in his honour.
that looks so pretty with that stain
I love how the feet are shaped like quarter notes for a sheet music stand.

Yes very charming
I was given a vintage file cabinet from my old elementary school. Behind the draws I found old test answers and student behavior management techniques. If only I had those test answers back in the day! Good to see someone using a flat plate to stop the wood being dented when removing the nails. Very nice result. I'm wondering if it could be made to look fancier with better knobs. The wood ones are ok, but they look a bit Armish. You know what would work. Putting those on the lathe and turning a few circles in that domed front. Would just lift it a bit.

They say that restoring old furniture brings it back to "life". Trena can change the amount of "melanin" in a piece of furniture's "skin".

Sympa ce petit meuble,j’adore, le résultat est parfait,à bientôt salut Jeannot 🛠😉
I recogonized the treatment on the top of this. A set of pocket doors in my last house had only about 6 inches showing on each door. The doors had been stuck in the open position evidently for decades! Once they were freed, the hidden parts looked like your music cabinet top. Later on, I discovered that same finish on the staircase after stripping multiple layers of paint. That told me that it was the original finish on the wood when the house was built (1906) so it must have been the "IN" look back then. Someone had either painted or refinished the woodwork throughout the house once already. The pieces that were stained and varnich revealed it to be some georgeous yellow pine. I knew I was in for a treat with both the staircase and pocket doors. I sure miss that house. Anyway, I've enjoyed seeing this piece be brought back to an even better condition and loved the hidden surprises. I love your work so much and learn something every video! Merry Christmas!

STUNNING ! Looks big enough for even the director's copies. Please Note: If you find sheet music, no matter the date of copywrite or age, make sure to take care of it. Some of the first printings can be worth a hell of a lot of $$$. At 17:22 - That little dresser on the left looks almost exactly like one I carefully UN painted and applied a hand rubbed finish to years ago. One BIG difference though. Four different colors of thick veneer. No Staining and looked like nothing less than a custom masterpiece to me.
Well done!
Wonderful to see what you had to start with, and the lovely transformation, a joy to see, thank you.

Beautiful!
I was once surprised by a painted on finish which was kind of a bummer. More recently I found a bar cart that was in ok shape but I *think* was stored in a shed or or something that caused the shellac on top to bubble from heat. Just a guess. Overall it was in good shape though. I thought maybe I could reconstitute the shellac finish on the top and just clean up the rest of it. I was so careful to just use some denatured alcohol lightly on the top because I thought it was a painted on finish. It just wasn’t working so I gave up and stripped the top. Turned out it wasn’t painted on, it was solid mahogany with a beautiful grain. Ended up stripping the top, doing a sort of French polish on the top with shellac, and putting some poly over that because it will be in a location where I can’t keep the heathens from putting things on it. It’s a beautiful piece of furniture. Could have saved myself some time if I’d looked a little harder!

I appreciate the music you choose. So many of the channels I watch have mind numbing, computer generated, annoying music that I mute to escape it.
