I went out today and picked up a 19 book run of Cerebus (1st series) for $0.50 each. 27-45 Score. 45 year old books.

Not a fan of bags with old price stickers on them. It is more work, but a new bag and board with the correct price, or peeling off the old price sticker is the right way to go. Heck, even putting the correct price sticker over the old one is better than the customer thinking they are getting a deal and then finding the real price. I wish I could find a new booth of that size around here!

Another good voice over vid. Nice job. In my experience, you rarely find any comics worth buying at an antique shop. As you point out they are typically over priced. Glad you were able to score a few.

Out here in the Phoenix area, I haven't really found comics at flea markets. The big one, Park 'n Swap, had one vendor with one partially filled long box of low quality 90s stuff. Nothing that I wanted. There's an antique store near my house that sometimes has comic books, but as you noted in the video, always overpriced. I was there last weekend, and there were a bunch of $2-3 books with prices in the $8 to $10 range. I think some of these guys look up the price for a 9.8 slabbed copy and stick that on their 5.0 to 7.0 raw copy because they don't know any better.

FYI, the Captain Carter you have, had a print run of about 3,000. There is a virgin variant of that one which had a print run of about 1,000. But still a cool cover.

Ya these books were "over priced." I wonder what the cost of the booth is, or does the vender have to pay a % of the value to the antique mall? To me I usually pay a bit more on some books even at a comic shop. Only because of 2 things. 1, I like to support the local shops, and 2 I really like the fact I can hold and look at the book I am thinking on buying, and just go home with the book and not worrying if someone is going to steal my books off my front porch. nuff said....

I don't think I've ever been to the Sturbridge flea market. Definitely look like a lot of fun digging there. Prices seemed a little on the higher side but I'm sure there's some good gems in there hidden. I do like when they play around with the trade dress like that gives it a unique look to the cover

Agree on those prices. I'm amazed X-men 25 went down soooooo low! I didn't get mine when it came out. However, I have to finish story arcs I love. When I finally found one, it was at a very high price, $75!! However, I had to have it to finish the story. I think when I found it it was about 1999. Still highly sought after then. Or I got ripped off. 🤷 The only saving grace is it's hologram is very blue. Not sure if the error has to be all blue or if it varies. I'm not 100% sure if it is or not but it appears to be the rare blue error version. You have to hold it a certain way to even get a hint of the yellowish green color that is supposed to be in it to give the 3d effect. If so it was definitely worth it in the long run.

  • @packerhead007

So awesome to see the cool and unusual places you find cool comics. When you come across the "Fatal Attractions" series, which has X-Men 25, look closely at the holograms. There are manufacture defects with some of the holograms which make them rare and valuable. I have found several "blue" colored ones which look really cool!

The majority of those comics are dollar comic, I bought a massive lot of comics of similar quantity, the original owner of the comics was asking for $3,000.00, I only paid $300.00, never pay full price, these are all overpriced and not worth buying.

$5-10 prices doesn’t seem to be to bad for some of the books. Not sure getting minor keys for $1 is realistic. I thought the vendor did a decent job with some of the prices. It is just me or is every KZreadr wanting books for basically free so they can brag about the deal or resell to make a huge profit? I guess it’s all about bragging rights but what do I know.
