I Found a GIBSON LES PAUL in a DUMPSTER...What Happened to it?
Ойын-сауық
A while back I found a Gibson Les Paul Gold Top in a Guitar Center dumpster. My first video about this finding this guitar has been one of my biggest videos ever on this channel, and the revenue from that video ended up supporting some local charities. My buddy Sean at Scar My Guitar contacted me recently and said he wanted to restore it, so I shipped it off to him. This is the entire story of what's happened to that guitar - the Guitar Center Gibson Dumpster Les Paul Gold Top.
At the end of the video, we'll jam the guitar out with "Brad and the Guitologists" thru my Roland Boss JS-8.

Nice job dude. Respect.
So glad you saved that gibson, that was pure sacralige of a guitar
Says SO much about that “manager” at Guitar Center. Butthurt about being exposed for what he did… not understanding at ALL that it’s what he did that is ridiculous. Typical these days. Brad, I’ve been meaning to tell you this for awhile now. I absolutely LOVE your intros where you ‘modify’ all of the movie/TV logo designs. Memories from my youth are full of those images. I don’t know how easy it is to do that kind of thing - but just know that it isn’t lost on me at least. I get SUCH a kick out of that. One man’s trash, even when RIDICULOUSLY & NEEDLESSLY DESIGNATED as “trash”, truly can be another man’s treasure. Keep diving, brother. Be well & God bless, Brad. 👍🏼

Well business is business… I don't think anybody likes being held up and paraded around for somebody else's quasi-moral crusade, that's kind of silly. How many reject Gibson guitars in a week do you think the co. destroys, I believe it's enough wasted by-product that Jack Daniels or somebody buys Gibson's scrap hardwood for charcoal to filter their whiskey. They do not save every possible guitar, to stay in business Gibson (or GC) maintain a margin. But KZread is really about entertainment so I get it why people stir up drama. Companies just have to deal with that.
Yeah, Brad!! It's been a long time!! Look at her! Listen to her! I can't believe what Sean came up with! She's beautiful!! And your finishing touches make it perfectly classy. Amazing recovery.

Killer moves on the funk jam.
I remember when you found that. What a great story, man. Glad to see it was brought back to life. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
The combination of those sick dance moves along with the expression on your face @17:54 is fcking priceless!!! Someone should make a clip and troll that GC manager with a neverending loop... clamp his eyelids open clockwork orange style and make him watch it for hours. 😅😂🤣

8 years... that long... far out, it was yesterday I'm sure... LOL your dumpster dives is what had me subscribe. Great human stuff. I'm old school Australian... our umbilical chords are made of gaffa tape... make do is what good countrymen do.
Great video. Thanks to Guitar Center for making this video possible. Great job by Sean @scarmyguitar rebuilding the Dumpster Paul... I have to say, I like Guitar Center. I've gotten some crazy good deals from them, including a Fender Tweed Custom Deluxe Amp recently
Two 👍👍to Sean. Great job brother! As for the demo, I'll quote Tommy Emmanuel when I met him after sitting in the front row of his show..."Did you guys enjoy yourselves? You sure looked like you did!" 😁😁
Great 'show' Brad. Enjoyed the entire episode. Nice to see that drummer's gettin' some chops! Keep him around. He'll always be able to tell you if the stage is level because the drool will come out of BOTH sides of his mouth! (I'm an old country & classic rock drummer myself.)
Mate, I can't believe I've only just recently discovered your channel! Great content, so well presented and narrated and you crack me up! Thanks for the videos 👍

Thank you Brad for getting your tone wet this time! That was a cool fun jam comp.
Absolutely dope ❤❤❤
Oh yeah I remember that vid, put all the GC dumpsters on alert. Fun to see a nice conclusion to the saga of the wayward Paul.
Great video - entertaining, nice jam😎
I remember you getting this guitar out 0f that dumpster, good onya now. It's journey can carry
That LP finally got a chance to rock. Great job!
Great story, with an awesome ending. Your humour, is also much appreciated here 😂🎸
I remember this original episode. Glad to see this.
Good job guys 👏👏👏👏👏
WOW, WICKED COOL VIDEO! FER-SHER... KILLER STORY... I GOTTA SAY OUTSTANDING RECOVERY AND STELLER REBUILD!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT STUFF LIKE THAT REALLY HAPPENS. I'D LOVE TO HAVE AN SG, BUT IT'S JUST NOT IN THE BOOKS. AND IT HURTS TO IMAGIN, JUST HOW MANY SG's GOT TOSSED IN THE DUMPSTER AT A RETALE MUSIC OUTLET. OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER... SUCH A PITY, WHAT A WASTE... YOU KNOW THAT GUITAR CAME OUT PHENOMENAL AND SOUNDS JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER... THANX FOR RESURRECTING THIS INSTRUMENT AND GIVING IT A CHANCE. KINDA REMINDED ME OF THE SONG " MIND BENDER " BY ( STILLWATER ) ONLY WITHOUT MARRING THE COMPITION, YA KNOW??? STAY COOL BROTHER... PEACE FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO...
18:00 had me crackin up! great video, Brad!
Good stuff brother Brad.
Been waiting to see this, he did amazing work repairing that guitar.
Brad , you had me rolling on the floor
18:06 Funky Brad is the best Brad ! ❤
It’s nice to finally see that guitar back and running!
Damn, I love your different intros. Pure nostalgia.
The black pick guard sets it off just right. Nice demos in the "Frog Leap Studios" style of one musician playing all the parts.😊
Someone did a great job
Thanks!
Very nice. Glad to see it completed! One less thing in the landfill is always a good thing. 😎 You're getting really good on the drums too, Brad! Practice makes perfect. 🤘

Yeah, I agree. I had not realized he was such a hot shit player. I knew he tooled around on amp's and other gadgetry and such, thus the moniker of guitologist, but damn!, that fella can rock!
That thing sounds great!
Nice jam at the end 👍
I have watched all the videos about this guitar, and the outcome. Between both parties. That restored this guitar is just amazing! JOB WELL DONE BY ALL!
That is fantastic noodling. Love those tunes. Especially the boop groove!
Nice! It turned out really well - looks like you had a lot of fun!
Good to see the happy end to this story! It turned out great! :)
Great job Brad…!Nice tone, good arrangements, descent mix…
This was a wonderful collaboration and I love the look of the resulting instrument. Play authentic with your "Dumpster Paul"!
Wish I could find gems like that at my GC! GR8 job Scar and Brad!
I found you from watching Sean's show when he did this guitar. I've been waiting to see the completed job! As ironic as it may seem, you now have one of the most famous Gold Top's of all time!! Best sounding Dumpster guitar I've ever heard! LOL!! Looks great with the speed knobs and the pick guard and of course the cream tip.
You have the best intro in the industry hands down, reminds me of old James Bond vhs tapes when I rented them as a kiddo😂❤❤❤❤
Wow, incredible sounding Paul! Good job both of you, salvaging it and doing it justice it deserves :))
Missed the live , but you gotta love REWIND .. 😂😂😂 🤠🎸🎶✌️
Dang that's cool! I sure wasn't expecting to see the old dumpster Les Paul resurrected today. It's like Easters morning😅 !!! Chancho....Let me borrow some sweats!
That guitar kicks ass !
WOW what a repair job to that SCARED GUITAR,Right on SEAN the guitar looks great and right on to the guy who saved it from the DUMPSTER (BRAD THE GUITOLOGIST) Great video and GREAT TUNES !!! THANK YOU BRAD !!!
Sounds good and looks good
What a great story a that was some great jamming man . Love how he fixed it with ingenuity and mostly harbor freight tools skill is in the hands an head an heart ❤️
Cool licks 🎸🎶🥁
History of this guitar makes it awesome.
Ok the real unsung hero here is your bass tone. It's killer!
Good stuff Brad God bless you bro😎
Awesome vid. Love the hofner bass ❤
Awesome!
Glad to see that poor guitar was rescued and brought back to life.
You had me dying during those jams!
What a great job on the restoration. My local music stored had a Squier bass that was cut with a band saw just sitting in front of the register. Apparently, the owner had stripped the truss rod nut and tightened it to the point that the skunk stripe was popping out the back. The owner called Squier warranty service and was told to destroy it. He didn't want to, but he couldn't get the customers warranty fulfilled unless he did.
15:14 "mixed-race pickup bobbins" 💀
"Dumpster Paul & the Triplets" I remember the GC Dumpster dives too. Thanks Brad ! !
Anyone wearing a Flatwoods Monster hoody has got my full support…great conclusion to a rather sad beginning…nice guitar…
Got a kick out your comment @10:59. Guitar never had a chance to Rock, just made it to GC. Well, it finally made it to D, Big D that is (G,C,D). Sorry if someone already posted that. Great video.
Brad, I really think Sean did a pretty damn good job on the LP!!!!!!
😂 Love the mouth wah action. Funky
I guess we’ll never know, but I am pretty sure Big D would have salvaged the original neck (even I would have tried it). In any case, Sean did a great job. And she looks and sounds great. In many ways, this reminds me of the Jared James Nichols 52 Gold Top that got salvaged and restored after it got destroyed in a Tornado.
Sean did a great job on that.
Great story
the 3 brads comming to a stadium near you..... loved this awesome brother... she now can sing. the guitar that is. great playing by the way offta may.😎😎
Since the original vid, I've made almost a weekly run by my local GC. I have gotten so many things. Cases, Mic stands Drum stands and parts, Karaoke mixer, and surprisingly a full analog 12 channel mixer in a road case. I call it the local GC Salvage. Other co workers I've jammed with laughed at first, but then they saw was I as gathering up.
That was entertaining. I'm glad Shawn fixed up this peice of wood so I could end up on your channel. Guitar sounds awesome! (nice touch with the president in there 😂)
I'm glad to see you donated some money to a worthy cause from this. Good deal!
that is soooooo cool!
